I believe the only ones so readily available are the flute and the hurdy-gurdy.

How do you give the Deku Wood to the Goron Merchant?

All you have to do is RP that you gave it to him (I.E type that your character gives the item to the goron.)

Umm...no you don't scholars work with Sage Artorius and he's East of here. Use talentpoints that you get through quests. We have quite a few. You just have to read what people say. Invest them in talents that your class wants like Mages need elemental explosion. You invest them by PMing the Royal Guard and please ask questions in the newcomers forum or here but preferably in the newcomers forum. I'm sorry for saying here in the PM. I guess I forgot.

And, currently, we can't go all the way to Mido Town. One route's been blocked off by one of those nasty boulders, and the other's being guarded by a Gohma.

To work on your class, do what Julian suggested, and then head straight east. Before long you'll find Sage Artorius; he's the one to talk to about getting your rank.
