Blank considers buying one, but gasps when he hears the price.

Twenty-five rupees for a flute? I know it's beautiful, chum, but that's not money well-spent. I tell ya what, when I get rich and famous, I'll return here, and you'll have yourself another customer.

Rose smilies at the Flute Boy. "Flutes, huh?" she says. She pulls her out. But it is not wooden like the ones the Flute Boy has. It is made of the finest silver and lines of gold curve intricately around the instrument. "I think I'll keep a hold of mine." She puts it away. "Best of luck selling what you have. Maybe someday you can afford to stock flutes like mine."

Xokorn approached the Flute Boy, completely under the spell of his magical music. The song was cheery, joyful...

It reminds me of the past... he thought, a tear forming in his eye. Reminiscing about his deprived childhood, more tears forming, he walked away, not looking back...

You played wonderfully, and I would buy a flute, but I am low in rupees. Thank you neighbor.

Lyos and Hurin began to notice a depreciation in the glowing green light permeating through the thick canopy of leaves as they draw closer to a clearing in at the end of the row of trees. A beautiful sound reaches their ears and fills their bodies with the warm glow of harmony and overtones.

Oh wow brother, it’s so beautiful. I can't even stand it.
I know, and it looks like he's selling replicas of the flute he's playing.
Aw how cool would that be to have one.
Well would you like me to buy you one?
Really! You mean it?! But I thought we didn’t have much money to spare?
Yes, well I figure it’s only fair. I’ve got my theorbo, now you’ll have you flute.

Taking out the 25 rupees, Lyos exchanged them with the boy for one of the hand carved flutes. Turning it end over end many times he inspected the whittled instrument. Though light-weight, it was obvious that the instrument was sturdy and well made. Bringing his lips to its smoothed mouthpiece, allowing the pungent aroma of cedar to fill his nostrils, he began to play a short harmony of the flute boy’s song. The two continued in their duet for a few minutes, until they made it back around to the tonic and Lyos bows out.

Wow… Hurin softly breathed. Where’d you learn to play like that?

Lyos smiled at the awestricken expression in his brother’s gleaming eyes and handed him the slender piece of carved wood.
Years of practice. Yes this’ll be a great introduction to power of music.

Eyes shining with eager anticipation, Hurin gently takes the flute as if it was made of glass and might shatter at any moment. Placing his fingers on a few of the holes, he inhales sharply and then blows the tiny instrument with all his might. An earsplitting screech tears through the serenity of the clearing and all there stop to look at whatever had caused such an awful sound. Lyos lets out a good natured laugh and pats his younger brother on the shoulder in attempt to cheer him up.
Well it’s a good start. he said with a warm smile.

Somewhat misty-eyed Hurin looked down at the instrument as if it had stung him.
Could you teach me how to play like you?
Sure, lets start right now. Lyos exclaimed as the two made their way toward the edge of the clearing.
Your first lesson is in breath support.
I know how to breathe! Hurin exclaimed indignantly, all vestiges of dejectedness dissolved.
