Dogura's careful walk finds no fault in the structure of the flooring; the boards creak a bit, but it seems that none of the supports are going to give. It's safe to assume that the building's construction will hold up. Opening the doorway similarly presents no problems. Yet the moment he opens it and peers inside with one of the mythical Checks, the samurai must apparently be struck by some sort of strange sensation, for he suddenly is unaware of everything (4+9 vs. 15 Fail)! Perhaps he should have simply tried looking into the room, rather than employing the mythical but not-always-necessary Checks.

( OOC: Yes, you did fail the Check, and yes, I did want to poke fun at you, but I also did this because I've misplaced the document with all the details for this topic. I'm afraid I don't remember what this room was supposed to be... XD; )

Leth also has troubles finding anything worthwhile in the Children's Room (2+3 vs. 15 Fail). The bedroom really doesn't have anything stand out to him; maybe it'd be a good idea to move on for now.

Alpha, on the other hand, catches a lucky break as his careful gaze takes note of something (13+4 vs. 15 Pass). It's hard to say what exactly it means, but as the Sheikah examines the door he finds his eyes drawn to the door knob. For some reason, the knob has the letter 'A' on its front. It's designed in such a way that it's easily overlooked, but there nonetheless.

Before he can announce this discovery, though, a new figure appears: Derek. The cleric has scaled the rope with ease (14+5 vs. 12 Pass). Spotting the newcomer, Horren rushes over and offers him a hand up. "Hey there, don't think we've met. I'm Brigadier Veldam of the Hylian Knights; what brings you to our humble neck of the city?"

* * *

Saber's prayers are answered almost before he's even started them (20+4+3 vs. 15 Pass), and the light of the goddesses once more surround him with their healing energies (+22 HP Saber). Now fully revitalized, the nomad can turn his full focus to scouring the area for any enemies...or so you'd think. But the man must obviously be exhausted, for his senses still seem a bit dulled (7+4+3 vs. 15 Fail). Nothing pops out of the barn when he sticks his head in, though; it all seems pretty quiet. At first glance, at least, the area looks safe and sound.

OOC: ZV, I'll try to find that doc before my next post here. If I can't, I'll just make something up for it, so don't worry about continuing to explore that room. :P

OOC: Oh no, by all means, post away! The map merely details what each room is; I still remember all the major puzzles and tricks. Basically, I don't know if the room ZV's trying to search is a library, a study, or a room filled with golden doubloons. But I do recall anything of any importance to this topic that would've been found in there.

And honestly, you guys are almost there anyway. Why, if someone was smart (and remembered stuff that's happened in this topic so far), you all could be in the next house in, oh, two or three more rounds of posts. :D

Feeling good as new, the mercenary stepped softly into the barn, looking about. Nothing leapt at his throat, so he assumed things were safe for now.

Hard to believe I went this far off course...maybe there's still something I can do from here...after all, this may be the only other open building in the town.

He looked all over the interior of the building; checking for the path to the loft, any equipment laying around, and of course any signs of life. [Nomadic Awareness L2]

OoC: Sweet.

IC: Since there appeared to be nothing of importance in this room either, Leth simply walked to the door on the other end and opened it, taking walking back into the main upstairs hallway. (Or, if the door happened to be locked, he walked back around where he came from and entered the main upstiars hallway.) Choosing the room that had not yet been looked into, Leth tried the doorknob to this last door, hoping it wasn't locked.

OOC: RG, you might be saying a bit too much there . . .

IC:
Alpha blinks in surprise as the letter on the doorknob suddenly jumps out, becoming clear as day amidst the fancy design of the handle. The letter 'A'? What could that mean, and why was it on the door to begin with? He couldn't shake the idea that it was an important find, but neither could he pinpoint exactly why he felt that way.

He turned away from the door; hopefully one of the others would be able to figure out what he was having such trouble with. "I've found something," he called to them. For those in the hallway at present, he motioned towards the door's handle. "There's an 'A' molded into this handle. Any idea as to what it could mean?"

Dogura's attention narrowed in on Alpha's call.
"I've found something! There's an 'A' molded into this handle. Any idea as to what it could mean?"
Dogura stared at it for several seconds. Why would it mean anything at all? This wasn't even the house they were interested in. "It's probably the last initial of the family that lived here." The samurai commented, turning his attention back to the previous room. Of all the things to call us over for... He thought as he entered the next room. I wonder what caused him to put so much attention on a door knob... Maybe he knows something we don't.

Dogura wrote:"It's probably the last initial of the family that lived here."
Alpha cocked his head to the side; that was certainly a possibility, but why would it be emblazoned on a random door upstairs? Wouldn't it make more sense to have the family initials on the front door or something? Somewhere more obvious . . . that would've made more sense to the Sheikah. But he couldn't deny the possibility.

Still, something irked him about leaving it like that. He could feel it -- there was something important to be found behind this locked doorway (after all, wasn't that always the case? Yes. Locked doorways always held the best stuff). He thought for a moment, then snapped his fingers as an idea hit. There was a simple way of seeing if Dogura's hypothesis -- that 'A' was the family initial -- was true.

"Who's got that diary we found downstairs?"

Surely that had the family's last name listed somewhere, right?

Derek turned to Brigadier Horren Veldam after he got his bearings from standing on solid ground again. That rope climb took a bit out of him. "Brigadier, my name is Derek. I'm a wondering priest and I seek to help those in need. The calamity that has befallen the South has drawn my attention as of late, as have the soldiers and adventurers who seek to reclaim it. I wish to offer my services in whatever capacity will be of assistance. But, my business in Saria Town, if this place can still be called such, is to find any evidence of the whereabouts of those who once lived here."

He looked about, and saw that there were adventurers checking the rooms, although none of them had noticed him yet. Derek raised the volume of his voice slightly, as though hoping his address would be heard by others in the room besides just the brigadier. Although he spoke to Veldam, his question was posed to the whole room. "I take it at least one of you tried to use magic to get into that secured house next door? I suspect that more information can be found within that manor - information that might reveal the location of those who once lived in Saria Town. Or at least information revealing what it was like living in the isolated South in the early years. But enough about my quest, how may I be of assistance in the now, Brigadier?"

OOC: I'm sorry to not take an action here, especially given the significant delays this topic has experienced, but I'm honestly convinced that Derek would wait for orders or at least figure out what everybody else was doing before he began to contribute. Sorry, everybody.
