Julian repeats the words inside his head as he tries to stem them together as if they were some kind of puzzle waiting to be solved. He rubs his temples as he becomes entranced in a mental chanting of the words.

OOC: do you really think I would let slip something like that. You'll have to find out. It would help if people would continue to post here... but I might have to start getting things moving elsewhere too. I don't just like to tell my stories, I drag everyone else (kicking and screaming, ideally) along.

OOC:Your right. My mind just sort of rambles with ideas. I can't control it. Well, it would be a good idea to speed the pace up a bit. I would hate it if people started losing intrest in your character.

OOC: Psh, I wish I could do that. My story hasn't gotten much attention, but I'm not aggressive enough to force people into it. I have to use more.....subtle means (hint hint). Anyways, sorry I haven't gotten around to posting here. I guess I'm just lazy, until now:
IC:
Victor walked slowly into the house. He knew situations like this were better left to officials, but his curiosity got the better of him. Stepping gingerly around the body, he headed across the room, sparing only a passing glance towards the couple surveying the body.
Victor decided to take the hallway around the corner, which had seemed to be ignored by the others...
OOC: There you go, Sheng Long! I hope that Julian's fictional stairs didn't take the place of the original hallway.

Narration:
Victor mounts the stairs and looks into the bedroom where he sees Julian musing amidst a disheveled bed and an open chest. The light streaming through the window stretches his hunched shadow out, long and flat, to spill at your feet...

OOC: Okay, the bedroom it is! I'm going to delve into the past of this topic yet again and refer to the original description of the room.
IC: Victor walks into the room, waves a quick sign of hello at Julian, and then picks his way around the scattered bedding. He reaches the far wall, and silently begins to inspect the wash stand.

A ceramic bowl sits on the stand next to a hairbrush and soap. A few soft cloths are folded next to the bowl. The smell of clean linen and floral soap drive away the reek of gore that has been clinging to your senses since you entered....

Ah Ha! The game is afoot!
A playful slap on the arm, No puns darling.
I can endure anything if it but brings a smile to your face.
Careful not to step in any of the gore, The Lovers move around the body. The woman removes a linen handkerchief from the inside of her bodice and hands it her husband. Crouching carefully by one of the bloody footprints he places the white cloth over it; Laying the handkerchief aside to dry with the evidence on it.
Moving slowly, with a soft sway, as though they are dancing the dirge for the dead, The Lovers approach the chest. Examining it closely: The latch and the handles, (OOC: Stop me here if there is evidence) before raising the lid to peer inside.
OOC: You mentioned a time restriction. Do you want me to post a list of things I wish to examine or do a one by one check?

Victor inspects the bowl and the cloths, looking for anything that may be hidden. He also checks the hairbrush and the soap for any signs of tampering.

Baffled by the puzzle, Julian gently places it in his robes. His eyes scan the rooms bland atmosphere and rises up from his hunched position, his back cracking as he straightens himself. His indigo figure walks toward the northern wall.
'Quite a nice spot to put a painting.' Julian mutters to himself absentmindedly as his fingers brush on the walls ruff exterior. He looks up and down the surface of the wall as he searches for a secret compartment.
'Why would a woman not want to decorate this wall. It seems so bland. There must be something she is trying to hide. Why would some one want to kill her if she didn't?'
OOC: Sorry for the late post Sheng. I thought you were going to post after Victor's.

OOC: so did I Julian. Lovers feel free to search as much as you like in a single post.
Narration:
Bedroom: The wall is old and the paint is flaked in spots but nothing of interest here...
The wash stand also appears to hold no secrets.
Main room: The chest contains a tea service and some china but other than these there appears to be nothing.

"Well...the girl has no personality from what I've seen. If you don't mind, Victor, I think I'll just take a quick rest on her bed. It's not like she'll care or anything."
Julian steps across the barren floor and sits down on the comfortable bed. His head droops down and he eyes begin to drag aimlessly across the floor. The hood of his cloak drapes over his eyes and facial features as he rests silently on the soft sheets.
'This girl deserved to die. She left nothing of remembrance and a forgotten life is a life not worth living. At least she left this scrap of paper.' Julian thinks to himself as he removes the parcel, his hands quickly unfolding to once again lay his eyes on the words.'
Smiled sw...
rosemary...
courage...
OOC:Sheng, you are dragging me way too much. I'm going to die if I don't find something fast. This is brutal. Have some mercy, will ya?

Frustrated, Victor left the wash stand and began to pace nearby. It was then that he spared a second glance at the Zora.
Victor saw Julian with the paper in his hands. His curiosity peaked, he walked over. Without bothering with salutations, he asked:
"What'cha got there, Julian?"

"Hmm. Oh, I found this in that chest. I've been trying to decipher its meaning but this doesn't give me a lot to work with."
Julian extends his hand toward the bard. "Here, you try. My eyes begin to tire anyway. Give it to me when your done." The Zora pulls his hood back over his face and continues staring aimlessly at the floor.

Victor takes the paper and pours over it's contents.
"'Smiled sw...
rosemary
courage'?"
He stared hopelessly at the writing.
"That doesn't make any sense. Oh, wait. I see! It's ripped! Okay, now it makes more sense... but what does it mean?"
He looked at Julian.
"If we could find the rest of the page, then perhaps we could figure it out..."
