Seeing Lon Lon Ranch in the distance, he walked forward, after hearing about Bessie before, and looked sadly at the Lantern. He apporached the ranch, seeing Malon looking after the cuccos, and when she saw him, her eyes were hopeful. He drew a deep breath, and said, "... I found your ox near the North Forest... she's gone..." He wanted to say more, but he knew that to many words could make the concept worse. He handed her the Lantern, and backed away wordlessly.

Lady Rose listened to Malon's plight. She took out the lantern she found with that one pile of bones near Tantari Desert. "Malon, I'm sorry to tell you that I think I found Bessie's bones. Here. Was this the lantern around her neck?" She extends the lantern towards Malon.

Malon looks at Azador in shock. "Missing a cucco? I don't think we are; let me go check!" Anxiously, the beautiful farm girl rushes over to where the cuccos wander around aimlessly. She begins counting, and you can barely make out the words. "...Fred is seven...Bill is twelve, Juliet is..." She finally straightens up, a relieved sigh escaping her mouth. "No, they're all here. I guess your cucco must belong to someone else."
