Saber saunters into the dojo, tired form his last job but curious to see this Orca. Training with ihim could only make things easier, after all. He walked up to the old man. "Hello, I was wondering about training....?"

~Pyre walked in just behind Saber, with quite the same thing in mind, but it seemed like no one was there to do the sparring. The hylian shrugged his shoulders and turns to Saber. "Well then. Are you up to doing some one-on-one sparring? It seems as if Orca won't be back for a bit."~

Saber was surprised at the voice behind him--he really had to work on his awareness. He recognized the voice, though, and turned to face Pyre. "Sure, why not? It could help with the raid on Fort Damon..." He drew his saber and walked to the middle of the mats. "So then...shall we begin?" He leveled his saber, pointing it towards Pyre's chest.

~"Lets." The hylian drew out his scimitar, and like his opponent also raised the blade ahead of him. Pyre wanted to make the first move, so he started attacking only an instance later. In many battles, one doesn't want to make the first move, but wait patiently and then counter. But the ranger could see that his friend was no stranger to the blade. As a fellow blademaster, he knew that momentum would be important, and didn't want to lose it.
For the same reasons, a head on attack would be pointless, so Pyralin went for something more insidious. He lashed forward with his blade, from left to right, hoping that Saber would intercept it. At the same time he took a step to right to put more weight behind the strike.
Hopefully his opponent would block the attack and see the attempt to flank him, and make the appropiate move to counteract that, turning his body to face his adversary. If so, Pyre had an unpleasant surprise for him.
As he made his preemitive attack, he also went into a croutch, changing the angle of the attack and making it harder to parry and still keep ones balances. Plus it was a more defensiable position. Who knew what Saber had up his sleeve though. The ranger was quite looking forward to this spar.~

Saber was taken a bit off guard by the sudden offensive, but wasn't fazed much, and still got his blade into position. He skipped backwards, staying sideways, and used his free hand to grab the sheath from his belt. He used both sword and sheath, one on each side of him to block both methods of attack as he skipped backwards, closer and closer to the wall.
I just have to keep this up until I find my hole...then comes the counter-strike...
As he neared the wall, his back arm began to tire from the stretching it had to do, and he turned so he could use his saber to block both sides.

~The hylian watched carefully as his opponent shifted his weight. It was time to launch the true attack. Instead of leaving himself directly facing Saber after he turned, Pyre shifted to the right, and then took a quick step directly towards his opponent. Using all of his weight, combined with the momentum of his previous attack, he twisted his wrist and attacked with a pommel bash, aimed at his opponent's face.
Hopefully the attack would break through Saber's defences, for otherwise it would leave the ranger wide open, and he would have to reveal some of his tricks quite early in the spar.~

Saber acted quickly, twisting to the right so that the pommel crashed into the wall, then used the sheath to pin the hilt to the wood to delay Pyre. A single drop of sweat ran down the side of his face, and he pulled the sheath away, skipping around to trade places with Pyre.
He lifted his saber over his head, the tip pointing towards Pyre's chest, and he stabbed it forward, hoping that he would dodge it. Although, if he did dodge it, he was in for a shock as well..

~Pyre saw the blade rushing towards him. It was the perfect oppurtunity for Saber. The hylian was pinned to the wall and off balance. It would be hard to dodge, and that seemed to be the only option. The ranger however wasn't about to dance around his opponent. His free hand slipped down to his belt and wrapped around the hilt of his dirk. As his hand gribbed the familiar wrap and the blade came free of the sheath, everything felt right. This was the style of fighting that he loved.
Pyralin quickly raised the dirk, and intercepted the incoming saber. At the same time he lean in towards the wall relaxing some of the pressure on his blade, and then pressed off against the stone to barrel towards his adversary. He hoped that this would free his sword and put the ranger in an advantagous position.~

Saber smiled. Pyre hadn't seen it coming, and now he was going to regret it. The stab was a feint. He barely let the dirk kiss his blade before he pulled back. He spun on his heel, the blade arcing around from it's high position to swing beautifully across waist level. Then he got scared. If Pyre couldn't stop his momentum and block it in time...He slowed the attack down and turned his blade over, so that the flat of the blade rather than the edge was facing his opponent.

~Pyre wasn't expecting the second strike, but in his adventurers if he hadn't been ready to adapt to surprises he would have been long dead by now. As it was though, he didn't stop his momentum. Instead he increased it. His dagger barely shifted as it once again moved into position to stop the saber. Unfortunately for him, as Saber shifted his grip, the blade slipped around his guard. They hylian was forced to make a desperate dodge at the last moment, throwing himself to the ground, as the blade whished over his head.
Even then his mind was racing. He stabbed his dirk into the ground, and grabbed his opponents leg, as he rose to his feet. Pyre hoped that this would result in his opponent crashing to the ground. It didn't seem likely though, and his scimitar was raised and ready to parry and oncoming attacks.
The hylian had gotten a little roughed up from slamming to the ground so quickly, but he hoped that it wouldn't impair his ability to fight.~

In his mind, Saber sighed in relief. That had been a close one, he would have to be more careful if he wanted to have a sparring partner for much longer. Then he felt his leg grabbed, and suddenly he was parallel to the ground. Tricky, very tricky....this guy's good...
He put a hand out and caught himself, and while Pyre held on to one of his feet, he kicked out with the other as he twisted, aiming to knock him back a bit so he could regain his composure.

~The kick did well knock the hylian back, but Pyre wasn't about to let his adversary regain his balance. Instead, he lashed out with his scimitar, trying to bring his opponent's saber into a more akward position, and making even more unbalanced than before. Then he would have no problem following up with a dagger thrust.
As it was though, the ranger was in a fairly unbalanced position himself. He didn't know for certain that if Saber parried he would be capable of following the attack. It might even open himself for a counterattack. Though it was by no means a bad move, Pyre had wished that he had regained his balance instead of pressing the offensive. It may have cost him the win.~

Saber barely caught the scimitar as he rose, nearly falling over again, just catching himself. Then he thought of a plan. He trapped the scimitar by hooking his saber around it, and began to twist it around and around, eventually slipping it into position underneath his enemy's hilt and twisting upwards to disarm him. If all went well, the weapon would fly away and leave Pyre helpless. If not, at least it would stun him for a bit.

~He felt his hand lifting upwards, and was alarmed at the looseness of his grip. He knew that if he tried to grapple in this position, he might just end up breaking his wrist, so he let go of the blade, but far from abandoned it.
Instead, his now free hand leapt forward, grabbing the flat of the saber, while shooting his other hand upward, and catching the scimitar hilt with his dagger, sending the blade whirling towards him. He let go of the saber, and deftly caught the blade, jumping backwards and ending up on balance with both weapons, ready for his opponents next attack.
It was unfortunate that he wasn't able to make a counter to the disarming move, but he figured he was lucky to still have his weapon. He would get a chance later.~
