IC- James turned to Kasie and said“Sure thing. I ain't got anything better to do.“ Just then a male mage about the same age as James dressed in an orange shirt and grey pants leaped from behind a rock towards James with his staff pointed at James while shouting “You're mine!“ James turned with enough time to roll out of the way[/]

Ooc- I don't want anyone in this fight. This is a battle between me and the NPC(Which Nogare has control over for now.)

OOC: Oh man, I feel terrible.... I've had little access to the internet for the past week, and before that I was simply ignoring this topic. But I shall no longer!

IC: Each person stats are as follows...
STR: 2 + 9 (staff)
DEF: 2
AGI: 1
INT: 6
SPI: 5
SPL: 12
HP: 20

James barely rolled out of the way. He was caught completely off guard.

(4+1+9 [roll+AGI+Weapon bonus-staff]=14 > 1+2 [AGI+DEF]=3. Strike!)

11 DMG to James (9+2).

James: 9
Josh: 20

OOC: Dude, how will James counter-attack

James winced in pain as the staff made impact.

James then healed himself and attempted a fire spell on Josh.

OOC: Sorry, ML. I'm back for this.

IC: James shot the fireball at the other Hylian. This, however, did very little, and cost him too much of his willpower.

James: 10 HP, 4 SPL

And furthermore, James did not have enough willpower to cast fire, and thus could not make it in time to attack.

OOC: Josh's turn.

Josh then counterattacked with a fireball of his own

Half of Josh's willpower was shot from him as he did this attack. And lo! James was able to barely evade it thanks to his reflexes (19+5) (Roll+SPI). By amazing odds, he took absolutely no damage, and avoided the attack in time to save himself. All that willpower was wasted for naught!

Josh:
HP: 20
SPL: 6

James:

HP: 9
SPL: 4

OOC: ML you don't know how lucky that roll was! That is so hard to do! Look at the rule...
Conversely, to hit an enemy there are two distinct ways to do so. For magic, you cast a spell and hope the target does not resist the magic and mitigate the total damage you can cause. For physical, to see if an attack lands, one calculates Weapon attack bonuses + Talent bonuses + AGI to a d20 roll. If your attack chance is higher than the target’s total Defense roll (as detailed above), your attack lands and deals the DMG of your weapon plus any applicable bonuses.
And furthermore, look at this!
Damage for magical attacks is calculated as follows: (caster’s level + base class) + INT. The base class factor is 3 for Scholar, 2 for Vagabond, and 1 for Grunt. Example: a L1 Scholar with 5 INT cast’s a spell, DMG would be, using the formula, (1 + 3) + 5, thus 9 DMG total. At L2, the DMG would be (2 + 3) + 5, and thus 10 and so on. For Physical attacks, your DMG is the weapon DMG rating + STR bonus.
That could have done 13 damage to you, and would have finished James off instantly! That is amazing!

OohC - Dude your earlier post confused me. Anyway let us resume.
IC - Josh accidentally cast favor of the goddesses on James without realising it.
OoC - I planed it where Josh spent several days awake(will unfold later)(this is also a reminder for Nogare (incase))

OOC: Just basically, James did something that is not very probable, and pure luck. He could have died, but he lived, thanks to the luck of the die.

IC: Fortunately for Josh, he lacks too much SPL to cast the spell, and thus James still remains still remains with the same amount of HP as last turn.

OOC: ML, how about for every post you say each of their their turns. Savvy? :D
