Russell has dark brown, wavy hair that ends in spikes. He smiles and laughs a lot, and prides himself on his ability to charm any woman. He is a mage, but he seems to be more interested in the opposite gender than the Mystic Arts.

Russell is quite a disappointment to his family, who are all tough, uptight mercenaries. His father used to say in a scathing voice that he should have become a bard instead; Russell would flippantly comment that they seemed to lead happier lives than he did. Russell can never seem to please his family in any way, so he left their mercenary troupe to seek his own fortune (and a girl or two) wherever it may be.

The only thing his family has every praised him for was his cooking; many harsh days on the road were sated by his culinary talent.

Russell will not, and cannot, return home until he breaks a curse that was put on he and his family a few years ago; he fell in love with a witch's apprentice, a beautiful girl with dark brown hair and an easy smile, which angered the witch. The only way to break the curse, as the witch told him, was if he got a girl with dark hair and eyes that was aligned with Chaos to fall in love with him. That would have been no problem for Russell, but apart from cursing Russell so that he would go insane when he turned 21, she cast a strange aura on him that repels many people.

Russell met a Sheikah matching that description at Sovelis's house, apparently his newest apprentice, and believes she will be the one to help satisfy the curse.
