[Event]The Mayor Drunkenly Grumbles

The Mayor of Ruto sits in his office as always as you walk in, grumbling over some piece of paper that he's reading. He tosses it aside as he notices you enter, and if you're quick enough you might notice the King's seal is present on the message: this is probably the note from His Majesty concerning the fact that adventurers will be arriving in the upcoming days to sign up to join the Hylian Knights in slaying the Gohma.

"You one of those adventurers I've been hearing about?" the Mayor asks irritatedly, one hand rising to grip his forehead to quell a headache. "Well I'm not sure you're cut up for the job!" he says with a sudden jolt, leaping up from his chair...and then collapsing back into it as his drunken haze nearly causes him to hurl after the sudden exertion of his muscles.

Seeing that you aren't about to leave, though, he waves his hands in submission. "Fine, fine, be that way! You wanna join the Knights heading down into the Pass? Well, how about you make it worth our while to allow you to come, eh?" He leans forward, cringing as another wave of head pain passes through him. "Here's whatcha gotta do. There's a special type of flower, only grows on the beaches of Parapa. It's a crucial ingredient to that little antivenom thing that the docs at North Castle cooked up, and we don't have enough to keep everyone from getting poisoned. You bring us back a handful of that stuff, and you can have a bit of the antidote for yourself. Deal? Good," he finishes without hesitation...and then promptly falls forward onto his desk, snoring lightly as the drunkenness claims him.

Sovelis looked down at the drunken man that had just exploded his anger at the Tempest. "Find some flowers you say? Find some stupid flowers? Who do you think you are, you drunken, fat, lazy moron? I should just burn your fat carcase and feed it to the crows! Do I look like an errand boy to you?!?!" the Last Tempest said, pulling his hood off his head and leaning on his staff angrily. He fastened his gold-tinted gaze on the mayor, and gritted his teeth.

OoC: Erm...RG? I have a few questions to go with this post.
1) Have you put the flowers out yet? I couldn't find them.
2) In Alpha's FoG:CL, Sovelis assisted the Hakiem tribe and thus, became a traitor to the royal Family. Does this mean that someone might try to arrest him? which brings me to my last question
3) Because of the events in FoG, could you or someone have a few of the soldiers recognize Sovelis as the red-cloaked mage from said event?

Sheila walked into the office in an almost foul mood. She seemed to be a courier for her uncle an awful lot lately, and she was getting tired of it, but he kept on promising that he would soon let her go off on her own, so she waited patiently for that day. But for now, she hid all signs of her bad temperament as she presented the flower the drunken mayor had asked for. "Here you go, sir," she said, trying not to breathe in the alcohol. "Go ahead and give my dose of antidote to someone else. I'm, um, well, I'm afraid of spiders, so I'm not going to be helping fight the gohma." She blushed a little bit, but didn't really expect the mayor to care about her arachnophobia.

OOC: I know I'm not RG, but 1) the flowers are indeed placed. Try looking again. 2 and 3) Why are you going to make RG do more work than is necessary? I know you all want to interconnect all the stories on HA2, but frankly, I think it's near impossible. We all have different views on the world of Hyrule, and it doesn't really seem to be worth the hassle to get everyone's view to fit together.

Speaking of RG doing his work, how about getting back to Ultrasonic Silence? Sheila's waiting to tear off a keese's wing. Also, except for the jerkin, sword, and items needed for Syrup's potion, could you clear out my inventory? Kind of don't need those items, you know?

Worru panted as he ran into the office, his second time in the town itself. He was barely ever up in the mountainous region, only helping people get items they either lost, wanted, or needed, and always feeling stronger and happier as he did, though he also had a feeling that there wasn't much for him to do that was left. After hearing about the Gohma, though, he was filled with a want, no, a need to help, a need to show that he could be strong. And with that feeling, as well as needing to clear out his satchel, he took out the red flower, and presented it to the Mayor, knowing that this would help him further.

The Mayor wouldn't tolerate such behavior. Never in his wildest dreams - which were rather filled with alcoholic substances - would he imagine being called such foul names. He wouldn't have it: he yell his lungs out as it was a common event, summoning the guards to throw the man in front of him, the Tempest - something the Mayor would know if he had actually payed any attention to his surroundings - into the rotting depths of the Ruto Prison before he could be escorted to the gallows in North Castle. He would see to it. Those actions were what he would do... if he had been awake at the time. To Sovelis' accusations, he remained fully asleep, a light snoring emanating from him as he was ignorant - or at least feigned it - to what surrounded him, even if the Tempest's tone was rather loud and audible. The last dose of alcoholic beverages must have been rather potent.

However, the man is jolted with energy as he hears more people hitting the door to his office and walking in rather loudly. He raises his head in disgust, mumbling incoherent babbling about adventurers and lack of manners, taking rather a while to understand exactly what they're telling him. Immense hangover, one would conclude. As he notices them with the fabled rare flower in their grasp, he, between beastly grunts presses a button on his desk. Moments later, a Hylian robed in white and with the symbols of the goddesses carefully printed into his uniform entered the room carrying a large amount of vials with a red content inside - the antivenom produced from those plants. Grabbing two, the cleric hands them to the adventurers in exchange for their flowers, exiting the room quietly afterwards. "There you go. We're just waiting for the Hylian Knights to do the first scouting, and your... assistance... will be accepted soon. Now just go and leave me alone!" - he grunts, before the light-headed feeling settles in once more and he falls asleep once more. Now would be a good time to drink the potion... and as you do so, a strange sensation of flame and burning invades your body for a few moments - pain settling in - before vanishing as fast as it appeared, having gained new defenses.

Sheila and Worru now are immune to Gohma's poison

OoC:

1) As Sheila has already explained, the flowers are most certainly out there... though no-one said they had to be in a post. You'll just have to search further, Sovelis.

2) / 3) If you recall, your character siding up with the Hakiems in Alpha's FoG was witnessed only by two of the Hylian Knights besides the adventurers. And if you notice, no wanted message has been issued to the Hakiems Tribe, perhaps out of fright. Whatever it may be, it's fair enough that no-one else knows about Sovelis' little side-change there, eh? 8)

Oh, and HnS, sorry for not replying there earlier. Working on South Hyrule has been rather tiring and I failed to notice your post. Will take care of it soon. And about your items, consider it done.

Raven's mask did a good job of hiding the look of disgust which leapt onto his face the moment he entered the room. Seeing a man who supposed to be the mayor in such a state added to his belief that Hyrule was ruled by inept fools.

I can't believe I've become a florist. He thought, as he placed the red bloom on the table in front of him, coughing politey as he rose. Although he had a fear of spiders he realised that his fear had deminished as he got older and smaller spiders, no longer bothered him. However if he was able to take on the mother of all spiders then he would know that he had fully overcome his fear and a potion to make him immune to Ghoma's poison sounded like a good place to start.

by Kasei
Kasdei walked into the room at the same time as Sovelis, and heard the drunken mans order. "A flower, eh? Why? They all look the same to me, i'm no herbist." He said quietly, but still knew that the flower would be vital, so he left the room, and the building, and the town, to go to Parapa to look for said flower.

OOC: If I may add to what RG said, Sovelis, the Mayor of Ruto is too much of a drunken bum to recognize a wanted man. Even if said criminal was doing something obviously illegal, like, say, slitting the mayor's throat . . . XD

So yeah, don't worry about it for the sake of this little event. Once South Hyrule's open, however . . . you might want to be watching your back. 8)

Tatsu normally doen't ever come up to ruto offten. until he heard of goma. tatsu always wanted to fight that creatur. so when he heard of the plan he came to sign up. " A flower?? where am I sopposed to find a flower in a dessert. I live there and never one have I seen flowers in the dessert." tatsu said with a look at the drunken mayor. tatsu turns around and heads out the door. " Oh and don't drink to mutch. if yah weren't so drunk you could get your own flowers." Tatsu said as he left the door.

Kasei returned to the mayor's office almost half a day later, sweating with exhaustion. It was, of course, impossible for a normal man to cross such a distance so quickly, witch is why Kasei utilized the rift. He walked up to the mayor's desk and dropped the red flower down onto it. "There, your herb, I hope I got the right one." He said through gasps of air.

Orpheous entered the mayor's office with the flower. He removed it from the pocket of his cloak, and threw it light heartedly on the mayor's desk. "I heard I needed to give you this for the vaccine for Gohma's venom. So when should I get the vaccine?" asked Orpheous, hoping it wouldn't take long.

The mayor is jolted out of his slumber as he hears more people hitting the door to his office and walking in rather loudly. OoC: What would happen if We DIDN'T get the flower? would we be unable to go with? Or would the poison slowly and steadily drain HP? Thanks Alpha...I'll remember to keep an eye out for your insidious plots.... And...Can I actually attack the mayor? That would be fun!

IC:
Sovelis turned around quickly. This sudden movement seemed to whip his bright red cloak around him like the red flowers that had been brought in to the drunken mayor "I will return shortly. You'll get your damnable flower even if I have to rip every inch of the desert apart looking for it." the Tempest said, his mood growing even more foul with every passing second.

A few hours later...

The Tempest slowly walked back into the mayor's office, a small cactus blossom clutched in his real hand, his staff in the other. It seems as if the search for this rare bloom has worn Sovelis's temper down to normal. He placed the red flower on the desk, and he noticed that it was the same shade as his cloak. Hmmm...perhaps I could find some more of these for the dining room table...They'd look nice.

"Here is the flower needed to make some of the anti-venom. I hope that is enough. If not, I will go back and get more." he said, remembering that he didn't need to walk very far. Just right out of town, into the rift he and Kasei used...or even Shifting would work. That might take some mental energy though, and Sovelis wasn't in the mood to be wasting his power.

OoC: Well, it seems that I found it after all. It took me about ten minutes, but I did it. Three points for me!!!

Azador walked in the office,a few grains of the desert sand was still in his brown hair.
He totally ignored the other adventurers and sat down on a chair in front of the desk.
"You asked for these?" he said showing the bundle of the red flower to the half drunken Mayor. Azador was irritated by the mayor's appearance.
Shouldn't he be an example for the people? he thought.

Victor burst into the room, dripping with sweat and panting heavily. It looked like he had run, sprinted even, to Ruto Town from North Castle. In fact, he had. Between labored, wheezing gasps of breath he managed a few frenzied words. He overheard someone mention a fear of spiders, a woman he hadn't met, but ignored her for now. He was more concerned with the King's words.

"Did I hear right? Is the antidote finally here?! Can we get to South Hyrule now!?!"

Seeing the others in the room, the Bard became quiet. He expected to be the first one there, he had run as fast as he could after all. He was embarassed now, and tried to regain his composure: weakly he ran his hand through his windblown hair. It didn't do much to fix it. He mumbled,

"A flower is all we need, though? Well... will this do?"

He pulled a crimson cactus flower from his satchel and presented it to the Mayor, placing it on his desk.

"Is that it, then? Well, I s'pose I'll be needing the antidote now, eh?"

As he waited for the antidote Victor decided to make some conversation, addressing the arachnaphobia comment from before.

"Well, I'd bet a lot of us are scared of spiders, I know I am. It's the burden of an adventurer, facing our fears on a daily basis."

At this, he straightened a bit, puffing out his chest.

"But, you're only a girl, so I suppose no one expects you to deal with any bugs, eh?"

Victor chuckled, and seemed to regain his composure finally, settling in with a smile to await his antidote...
