At every step he took, his feet sunk in the sand; every step needed the effort of ten. His breath was hard and heavy, yet he needed no water, for his race endured the hardest conditions. Vor knew the sun was burning his head, but right now he was concerned on other business, like his newly acquired treasure. They looked like gauntlets with spikes, and seemed to fit perfectly his Goron hands, they shone with great intensity, for they were polished to perfection to the last detail.
But there was something wrong with them, there had to be a reason for the tight security they were being held in, and yet they had displayed no extraordinary properties, except for the fact that had not a single scratch on them; even after the conditions in which they had been put into, they still shone with the same appearance as they night he stole them.
"Ah! Piece of crap!" he yelled as he was about to throw them away in desperation, when he caught a glimpse of something half buried in the sand and he stopped on his tracks. He fell on his back and suddenly he had sand in places he thought impossible to be reached. Whatever that thing was, it reflected a blue and metallic light.
He rushed towards the object that had caught his attention in the endless patch of sand. As he knelt down, he noticed that what caused the blue light was somewhat round and soft, and for some reason it was cold too. Curious, Vor got into a digging frenzy to get out of the sand whatever it was. Curiosity gave place to shock as he discovered the face of a young girl with blue skin; she was unconscious, but still breathing. The Goron dug as fast as he could to get the girl out of the sand, he then knew were that metallic shine was coming from, the young Zora was holding a scepter with a weird design at the end of it, it somehow reassembled a crescent moon with an emerald in the center. When Vor tried to remove it, the girl, despite being unconscious, held it as tight as she could and the scepter remained in her hand.
After a few minutes of struggle, Vor managed to completely dig out the Zora, she was definitely in her teens, probably 15 years old, she was wearing worn out robes and other than the scepter, the only thing she was carrying was a blue pendant on her neck. Vor looked at her with pity, she was going to die if left there, yet he had no desire of carrying with her as a burden. She was going to die anyway, so there was no case in trying to save her. But that scepter did look quite well crafted; it had to be worth something in the black market. Vor knelt to try to take it once more, but as he tried to do so, a faint voice came from the Zora's lips.
"Wa...er...wa...er" she said as she held to the scepter like her own life. The Goron tried harder but the girl wouldn't let go, she would just start begging for more water. Vor scratched his head as he watched this behavior; the little Zora sure had a strong will to live.
"Wa...ter...pl... ease" said the girl again, this time slightly opening her eyes and raising her head, just to collapse again.
"Oh well, what are we going to do about you?" said Vor as he lifted her in his arms. Her limbs were cold, but her chest and forehead were scorching hot in fever. The Zora embraced the scepter and held it tight against her body, she trembling due to her body being in such an unstable state, her breath was deep and quick. This, however, didn't bother Vor, who started walking again in search of a refuge from the noon sunlight.
...
They arrived at a series of rocky formations, the biggest one taking the form of a cave big enough for several people to fit in. The inside was shady and cool compared to the desert outside, so Vor decided to rest there.
After kicking around some rocks to make the floor more comfortable, he gently left the Zora in the ground. The Goron still had some water left, and since he could go without the liquid far more than a Zora, he raised the girl's head with his hand as he put the water skin in her lips.
"Here, drink it all up" the water spilled on both sides, but the girl drank most of the precious liquid. After drinking half of what was left, Vor found a place for himself in the cave where he could rest too. All that was heard was the now regular breathing of the girl. Finally after several minutes, Vor too fell asleep.
He woke up some hours later when the sunset painted the sky of its characteristic colors. What had woken him up was the sound of a rock rolling on the ground; the Zora had awoken, she was sitting in the very place Vor had left her. Her eyes were wandering around the cave, looking for something that would call her attention, that’s when her eyes met Vor’s; the Goron had never seen such intensity in the eyes of such a young person, which only raised more questions about the girl’s identity.
“I see you’ve woken up, who are you?” Vor asked.
“Who are you?” said the Zora apparently ignoring the Goron’s question.
“Don’t act all grown up on me brat, I asked first” replied Vor, slightly raising his voice.
“But I want to know first!” Vor was amazed that the young girl tried to impose herself to a Goron.
“I just saved your life back there, tell me your name!” Vor was starting to get impatient.
“I… I… I am…” her imposing sight gave place gradually to confusion, and then to desperation. The girl repeated the same couple of times more under her breath as she knocked gently her head a couple of times. She started searching her robes to find anything that could give her a clue, from her pockets to her chest and finally her neck, where she found the pendant. She took it off and saw the emblem printed in the blue jewel that was the pendant. The emblem consisted of a hollow drop of water with what appeared to be serpents sprouting spikes, one on each side of the drop. After this she turned to Vor and yelled at him “Who am I?”
“You mean you don’t remember who you are?” Vor said oblivious to the fact he was being very insensitive about the Zora’s amnesia.
“Tell me who I am!” she insisted.
“Why should I know? I just found lying in the desert, I don’t know anything about you” Vor said as he crossed his arms once more.
“Please, you must help me!” the girl started crawling towards Vor with tears in her eyes.
“What? No way!” said Vor as he started to stand up in order to avoid the girl. “I have my own business and the-” the Zora had caught the Goron’s leg with the same solid grip she had used on the scepter, which was now lying in the ground.
“Please! Let me stay with you! I don’t have anywhere to go!” Vor shook his leg his leg violently to get rid of what he thought an unnecessary nuisance. The Zora finally released his leg and rolled on the ground; she looked directly into the Goron’s eyes, and begged once more, she wasn’t crying anymore, but she wouldn’t take a no for an answer. “Please! I won’t get in the way! I promise!”
Vor looked at her; she did have a strong will. “You promise you won’t get in the way?” he asked, the girl just nodded. “… then do as you please”
“Really?” her face suddenly illuminated.
“I said do as you please” he said.
“Uhm…” the girl started to play with her hands as she slightly blushed.
“What is it now?” Vor said annoyed.
“I was wondering if you could… uhm… give me a name” she said looking to the ground.
“Wasn’t it enough with saving you?” he asked more to himself than to the girl. After a few seconds, he snapped his fingers and said “How ‘bout Emma, like the emerald in your scepter?”
“… I don’t like Emma” she said “Pick something else” she demanded.
“I don’t know… Kira! It’s short and easy to remember, and I don’t want to memorize a difficult name” Vor crossed his arms in a gesture that made it clear that it was his last offer.
“I like Kira” she said smiling “My name is Kira! My name is Kira!” she started chanting the same phrase over and over, which annoyed Vor to the point where he offered the last of his water to the girl, although offer may not be the right word, as he threw the water skin to the girl, missing her head by some inches.
“There! Drink what’s left before I change my mind” he said, keeping his frown on the face.
Kira quickly grabbed the water skin and drank its contents in a matter of seconds, cleaning her mouth with her sleeve, after which she said “You’re a nice guy! What’s your name?” she asked in a smile that showed her sharp teeth.
“It’s Vor” he said as he returned to the spot he was resting earlier.
“Vor, what kind of name is that?” Kira said, taunting the Goron.
“Why you… just go and rest some more!” Vor said, obviously proud of the name he held. “We have a long way to go tomorrow, so stay put and shut your mouth” the Goron yawned, it had gotten darker since Kira woke up, so there was no point in going anywhere else today.
“I want to sleep with you!” she said, and before Vor knew it, Kira had placed herself by his side, hugging him. The Goron was about to hit her with his characteristic titanic force, but he wouldn’t bring himself to do it. Instead, he slightly caressed the girls forehead.
“What is it Vor?” she said looking at him.
“Just shut up and sleep!” he said frowning.
“Whatever you say… Good night!” Kira said before closing her eyes and resting her head against Vor’s arm.
Vor looked at her as the last ray of light extinguished, and for the first time in long time, he smiled.

Man! What a pain in the but is to go with a character without name for more than half a story!
