Lone General

The drawbridge closed slowly behind a hooded figure as the sun set lazily in the west. He limped haphazardly through the empty streets. A cart clattered in the distance. Dogs barked and whined. The night was coming.

He slipped easily through the merchant's stalls, overflowing with goods and wares, even on his injured leg. A faint whisper came from the alley. "You seem like you could use a hand, my friend" and a bag of rupees tumbled out. "Who are you?" Skaar asked, but the voice was gone.

It was replaced by a new voice, coming from the alley behind Skaar. "I see someone has some heavy pockets tonight. I wouldn't want you to have to carry all that weight."

"And perhaps your neck would like to be relieved of the weight of your head." Skaar retaliated.

Skaar whirled around just in time to lean back and avoid a wild punch from the thief. His hood fell from his head revealing a scar over his right eye. It began just above the right temple and continued down into the upper right part of his eye. It left the eye continuing in a straight line ending just before his nose forming a lightning bolt with the eye as the center. As the thief paused to stare at his terrifying appearance. Skaar drew his weapon and calming removed the man's head from his shoulders.

As he stopped to catch his breath a second thief leapt from a nearby rooftop landing on his back. A dagger penetrated deep into his left shoulderblade. He felt the pain lance through him and with the last of his energy, and a snap of the fingers. He incinerated the thief and collapsed to the ground.

OOC: Alright everybody, this is my good buddy Skaar. I finally talked him through the difficult rules, and I convinced him to join. Also, in the part where you say: "As the thief paused to stare at his terrifying appearance." it should be a comma, not a period. Don't worry though, you'll get the hang of it.

IC: SNAP. The poorly woven sack broke open. The next sound heard by the apprentice was the rattling of makeshift tools and the thump of food as the content hit the rocky pavement. The third time this week. That merchant didn't deserve to be in business anymore. He may be the only guy in town who distributes sacks with his merchandise, but half the merchandise is useless because it falls out of the poorly designed sack.

The name of old teen was Simon Grendel. He was a scribe, just like his mentor, Orpheous. Not only that, but the two shared a rare ability. They could word-mance. In other words, they could coax things into and out of written documents. All it would take was a description of the item, and it could be summoned right from the written inscription. Of course, the level of effort and difficulty ranged from the complexity and size of the item(s), however, it did take less effort that regular summoning, so the two find it to be beneficial.

Simon wore his usual cloak, his hood down, unlike his master's style. Underneath was his tunic and his cotton pants. The only weapon with him currently was his trusty staff. On his wrist was a shiny Terminan watch.

Picking up his items briskly, the sharp-faced, long haired human looked around and noticed a man who had just collapsed of exhaustion. Upon further inspection, he looked like a Sheikah. After stuffing the items into his own personal sturdy sack, he walked closer. Then he saw the burnt, fainted victim, as well as the decapitated man. Clearly there was a fight.

He came closer to the man, knelling by his side. If the man wanted to ask the boy what he was doing, it would be useless. The boy ripped out the dagger, but instantly replied with his other hand, and numbed the figure's body with magic before anymore pain could be felt. He then used a quick life spell on the man, hopefully getting him good enough to limp back on his feet as opposed to flopping on the ground. He then undid the numbness spell, letting the man feel his body once again, even with the slight traces of pain. The man still appeared drastically injured, but it appeared to be from something older than this brawl.

His voice spoke calmly, in case the man was innocent. "It appears there was some kind of incident here. I think these two are thieves, so I don't blame you. However, we much rather prefer you alert authorities than make a bloody mess. No offense, you appear to be quick skilled. My name is Simon Grendel. Need any help?" He didn't think the man would reply immediately. After all, people like this always draw in a huge crowd (enter somebody else).

OOC: Yeah, Simon is an non-main character of mine. Anyways, welcome aboard. Good job with the profile, but now we have some editing to do on it. Contact me about that, we'll take care of it. ALSO, you might want to add what happens to the burnt thief in your next post.

"Is there some kind of problem here?" A regal voice called out, and the assembling small group of people parted to let through the figure of a man that should be familiar in the eyes of all; Kasei D. Gobi. "Well, hello there, Simon, what brings you here?" The Rebel Flame asked. The Mercinary approached. "Thieves, eh? Well, give 'em here, then! I can probably make a buck or two on them." He said, smiling.

The thing about Kasei, he's a mercinary, a violent one. But, deep down, he was secretly the servant of the gods, aiding Hyrule from the shadows. And, thieves were, in his mind, no more important than animals for the slaughter who deserved death. "Here, give 'em over, mah boy."

OOC: If this is before the war, than Kasei is still a mercinary, and not a general. ;)

Skaar's eyes opened wide. He grabbed Simon and pulled close. Whispering "The unit.... what about the unit..." before falling unsconscience once again. But not the unconscience of the wounded, but just the unconscienceness of the overwhelmed traveller

A member of the crowd brought one of the thieve's heads to kasei. The blood dripped slowly out of the neck. But the second thief had run off screaming curses as he was engulfed in flame. The flames would undoubtly scar him for the rest of his life even if he survived.

OOC: sorry for the short post, but I wanted to leave what happens next mostly up to you guys.

Simon was puzzled. People said weird things when they were trying to break out of unconsciousness. However, Simon had no clue what this unit was or why it was important. He could however tell that the wounds hadn't caused this fainting episode, but rather exhaustion, probably mixed with shock.

As the thief ran away, trying to put out the flames, Simon gazed over at him momentarily, before thinking the situation through. They needed to help this guy as of now. They would find the thief later.

Simon thought it over, "Come on, Kasei, help me get him inside," he stated, pointing over to a nearby tavern (no, not the Ornery Cucco, just a nameless tavern, I'll let Skaar name it if he chooses). He walked over to the figure's left flank, and slid his hands under his back, which he would soon hoist into the air as soon as Kasei got his legs from the opposite flank.

Meanwhile, a figure in a black masquerade beaked mask walked away from the scene. No one else could possibly have detected where exactly he showed up at, but he was at the scene as soon as Simon was. Now he slowly walked away.

OOC: The importance of the last paragraph exists not as of yet. However, it will in time.

Kasei approached the collapsed man, eyeing the escaing money . . . . thief. Whatever. "Heave-ho!" He said, grabbing the man by his legs, as Orpheous hoisted up front. The Rebel Flame grunted a bit as he tried to move the man into a position in which his feet weren't lodged in the shiekahn's chest.

"So . . . uh, the Tavern, then?" The man grunted, with one foot still in his chest. He started manuevering towards the building.

Miles away

Aria raised her head from her paper. "Kasei's about to go to a bar." She screamed, shocking nearby people.

Skaar opened his eyes slowly. He could tell from the faint smell of alcohol that he was in a tavern of some sort. He could just begin to make out the shapes and figures of a crowd around him. "So much for coming in quietly," he thought to himself. He had been seated in what could be identified as a standard wooden chair. He began to stand and felt the pain lance through his body as he remembered his previous wounds. Deciding it would be better to sit back down for now.

He calmly calculated out the situation. Seeing as how he wasn't dead, he decided that he wasn't in any immediate danger. "Where am I?" he asked the crowd, "and does anyone have a glass of water?"

"NO no no...owh! How Dare you seating your puny self on my piece of fine furniture! You brigand!" Edward yelled at Skaar sitting on 'his' chair.
"that's just typically! I've been waiting for the barkeep to finally give me the liquorice of my choice... and when I return to get this fine wine, a vagabond like yourself pops up out of no where stealing my chunck of well crafted wood!" In anger he smashed down the glass on the table nearly crumbling it in the process.
"So what do you have to say furniture stealing bandit? Spilling you filth all over the place, huh? huh?.. TELL ME!?" He cried while leaning so close Skaar he could nearly smell his breath.

OOC: Welcome Skaar!

Simon sighed as he set down the limp figure, who regained conciousness moments later. He didn't expect the man to weigh that much. He could tell the fellow was a Sheikah, however, he wasn't sure if the man was a full blood one though. They were a rare race nowadays. However, he concerned his time not with that fact, but more about finding out information on the figure.

Before he could answer the man's question, or pose questions of his own, Edward showed up. Simon listened to the mage's rant, and only shook his head once, in a manner that suggested, "Why do I have to put up with these people." However it was subtle and, for the most part, unnoticeable. He spoke to Edward, "Hey, Edward, relax. Kasei and I put this man here, and we were unaware it was your seat. However, he probably isn't in any condition to be moved again. He was just wounded pretty badly in a fight with some thieves, which he won, and he was unconscious when we brought him in."

Without giving the mage time to respond, he fetched the figure in the chair a glass of water in a mug. He turned to him, continuing to speak in common, which he had been using this whole time, "You are in a local tavern. You were injured pretty bad in that fight. Need anything else?"

Skaar stared at Edward skeptically before stating calmly "I just want my water."

To his surprise a water was handed to him by Simon. He glanced up at Simon. "No, this water will suffice for now but I am still full of questions. What is this land? Who are you? And where can I find a signal fire? I need to signal my unit to rally to my location."

He stood up, taking a deep breath, and walked over to Edward. "Sorry I bled on your chair, it was an accident." He proceeded to sit back down in a different chair, waiting calmly for someone, anyone, to answer questions.

Kasei held in a laugh as Skaar posed a question, a ridiculous one. "Where are you? Where aren't you!? This is Hyrule, mate, the land of the gods. If you didn't know that, then i'm quite shocked. This man here," He said, nodding to Simon, "That's Simon Grendel, I believe. My name is Kasei D Gobi, i'm a mercinary around here."

He looked over at Edward. "Chill out and take a seat, mah boi, there's plenty of room here anyway." He joked, motioning to another chair as Skaar finished questions. "Signal fire? My freind, if it's fire you want, I know someone who can give it to you. Here's some hints; he's tall, Blue-haired, and wears a lot of red." Kasei said, pointing to himself.

Skaar spit in his glass. "I have no need of gods and the like. They work against you more often then not. If it were truely by the will of the God's would I have THIS?" he demanded, pointing to his scarred right eye. Also, his right eye was a deep shade of red while his left eye was a stone gray.

He paused to let them take it in. As he calmed down from his rant his right eye slowly receded from deep red into a dark purple. "Now I see you all to be respectable people. But a signal fire is not a normal fire. It's a special fire I can use to contact my unit although it seems you don't have any on this island. In the mean time is there anything else I should know about this "Land of the Gods?" he inquired. His eye flashing red briefly at the thought of his scar.

"Hmphh..That's just splendid, you common people have no idea how long it took to find a clean and taintless chair fitted for a gentleman such as I." Grumbling Edward sat down facing Skaar, frowning as he Heard the stranger's speak.
"Owh.. please mister 'Vagrant' you shouldn't be so pessimistic.. blaming all miseries of life on the gods. There is also a factor called fate or destiny.. and no god can change such a thing." He replied while taking a sip of his wine.
"And you said you wanted to know some more about this country? well this land is filled with adventure, and where there are quests there are adventurers, most of them.. with long histories, they come here for salvation, vengeance, to learn.., in search of a cause..." He explained, sounding different then just a moment ago.
"I myself have come here to look for a very special person... though he is desperately hiding from me. So.. Good sir why did you come here, if I might ask?"

Skaar sighed, becoming increasingly tired of this man's holier-than-thou manner. He considered challenging him outright but stopped himself realizing that in his wounded state he would be destroyed by the mage. He thought bitterly to himself, "one day I will regain my honor, but today is not that day. And perhaps this man is not all that he seems."

"Fate is a lie, if it is by fate that we act then why do we live? We must choose our own path through life. Fate and the Gods are little but excuses," Skaar replied casually, "And I came upon this island by accident. I was shipwrecked while doing a routine sweep of this newly discovered island with my unit and another unit. That's why I need a signal fire, to reconnect with my unit. Who is it that you look for good sir, and why do they hide?"

Kasei stood almost emiediately. "First, my freind, this is no island. A continent would better classify Hyrule. As for fate and the gods, I happen to believe in both of those very things. And I should, too. More than enough people have encountered a holy being, so there's no point doubting their existence. What you spout is atheism, my freind, and you will be punished for it." He said, with a wink.

OOC: Orpheous may have not told you, but Kasei is a servant of the gods, not-so-secretly-thanks-to-Sovelis, and he will defend their authenticity.
