Aqua walked briskly. Her hair looked recently washed, her clothes looked brand new. The boots that she wore on her feet were no longer two sizes too big for her, but rather the right size. The only thing that she carried was a small bag in one hand and a sword on her back. It gave her a slouched look, but she didn't look any shorter. Maybe that's why people were staring at her. Like they have never seen a girl so tall before in their life. It was hereditary. Her father was tall, her mother was tall, her older brother was tall, and she ended up tall. No short genes in her family.
Well, if they weren't staring at her because she was tall, it had to be the star on her forehead. The one that had been given to her when she was attacked by magic when she was young. Only at seven years of age. She didn't really remember how she got it. Maybe it had to do something with a lightning bolt. Either way, she ended up with a scar in the same of a star that glowed with the presence of magic.
It was currently a bright orange.
She rubbed her forehead and growled. A little kid that had stopped and stared at her soon ran away. Aqua paid no mind to that. After being in Rauru Town so long, she had forgotten about her friend, the person that she had decided to leave the stupid village to find. She couldn't forgive herself for that. Even though people started to treat her better after Keychain had disappeared-not to mention her whole family. Even Kristen started to talk to her again.
Being treated differently didn't change things. She still hated Kristen even though Kristen didn't mind it so much. That is, until she yelled, screamed, and did anything else at Kristen. Then she started to become hated again.
Aqua thought that she had even punched her. Kristen did have a broken nose the last time she had seen her before she left.
The girl sighed. She rested the bag on some random steps and sat down on them. She ran her long fingers through her deep brown hair. Her amber eyes stared down at the ground.
Anger welled inside of her. Anger at herself and the pure frustration at how she couldn't find the single red head in the place. Sure, there were a few red heads here that she had seen, but none that were as short as Keychain or any that had such a deep red color.
Red. Every time Aqua thought of Keychain's hair color, she thought of blood, but not the fresh blood. More like the blood that had dried, but had fresh mixed in it. She always thought of death, death and morbid. Maybe it was just her style. Before she had met Keychain, she was like that.
"This is maddening!" she shouted loud. Her anger rang through her voice fierce and strong. "Where the hell did you disappear off to, Keychain?"
"Aqua?"
"Holy salmon!" Aqua fell off the steps as she whipped around in surprise to see who had appeared behind her. In all her glory was her friend, Keychain. She blinked her amber eyes as Keychain blinked her blue eyes.
"Aqua?" Keychain questioned again. "Is that...really you?"
"Nooo, it's Hero of Time," Aqua said with sarcasm dripping from her voice like venom. She got to her feet and dusted off her leggings and skirt. "Wow, I never knew that dirt could be so accumulated in one place."
"Who's the Hero of Time?" Keychain questioned.
Aqua opened her mouth, closed it. She pointed a finger at Keychain, opened her mouth again, and then closed it. A sigh rattled her body. Instead of continuing to point at her friend, she rested the hand on her forehead. "I've been here shorter than you and yet you don't know anything about this place, I bet."
Keychain continued to blink her eyes at her friend. Like any moment she would suddenly disappear. "What are you doing here?" she finally questioned after a few dreadfully quiet moments.
"I'm here because you need my protection. And people like to be snobs to me," Aqua replied. She slung an arm around Keychain. She actually had to lean downward to reach her friend's short height. Her gaze flickered around the area. "Say, have you noticed how people are staring at us? Me more than you."
"It might be that glowing star on your forehead," commented Keychain. Aqua rubbed her forehead and scowled.
"God dammit, I wish I could see it." Keychain was scowling at her. "What did I do? I didn't--oh! Sorry, I did promise you that I would stop cussing, didn't I?" Aqua grinned a toothy grin that looked positively evil. "It's just how I'm like, Key-Key."
