Title: Races and enemies.
Post by: alical on July 03, 2006, 10:30:00 AM
From the screenshots, vids and general information here is a list of known enemies I think I have seen:
-Lizaflos/Dinoflos
-Keese
-Bokoblins
-Stalfos
-A bird with a hooked tail ( some sort of guay)
-Deku babas
I have also seen something that looks like a dinoflo on steroids. There are loadsa new enemies that I have seen.
Now you can mention any enemies (new and old) and maybe races you have seen.
Descriptions are fine!

And of course there's bound to be staple monsters, stalfos, like like, octorok, tecktite, etc.

You forgot to mention the Twilight creatures.

I haven't recognised any twilight creatures, there hasn't been as many videos/screenshots of the Twilight realm.

Ghoma is in it.  Or some large spider with one eye that resembles Ghoma.  It's a hallway chase battle.

Also, there are some weird fuzzy skeleton animal things, and a new type of Skulltula/Tektike/Spider thing, with a skull pattern on its abdomen.

Then there's that Goron that Link is seen fighting.  At least it looks like a Goron.  Has a bunch of markings.  It might be an uncurled version of those brown explosive enemies from MM in Garo's Valley.  She punches like a boxer though, and I'm fairly sure it's a Goron.

There are also those Weird Cirular-Horned blue Sheep that Link tames at the farm.  Not exactly an enemy, but a creature.

I think the enemy riding the boar in the Horse demo from E3 2005 was a Moblin.

also there is proof in the game that Goron's are good and - EVIL. :o
In the E3 2006 trailer they had shown Link walking through a village. There in the background u can see a Goron selling stuff. - good guy.
In the second trailer released they had shown a goron fighting link- evil guy
In the demo at E3 2006 the level is called Goron
mines... i'm guessing u r doing good for the gorons there - good guys
But in the E3 2006 trailer there was also a picture of a rolled up boss that clearly resembles the peice of concept art of the really mean looking Goron - bad goron.

So they're good and bad!!!!!!!  ;D

We don't know that battle is for real. Tell me, if it's for real why is he only using his shield?

He could've been forced to be disarmed. They're probably trying to "kill each other like civilized people." :P ;D

However, it's probably just a friendly boxing match or something. I may be wrong, but I'm sticking with that until I either get proof that it's wrong or until I find out myself.

non! I understand what u are saying and have considered it, but following this there is a goron boss so there is quite a big chance he is evil.

The Goron could be naturally evil or he could have been hypnotised by Ganon.
People who have played the demo of the Forest Temple have written reviews and there is this big Baboon with a "parasitic cap" on which makes it evil and you have to fight it as a miniboss to knock the cap off and make it good again. he then helps you in the final boss battle!
It could be the same sort of thing with the Goron.
Or MAYBE it is like a tribal initiation cremony so the gorons trust Link.
Or MAYBE he is just plain evil!

Are Gerudos in this game? It's no good without Gerudos!

It all depends on the time period.  If it takes place before or around OoT time, we could be seeing Zoras, Gorons, Gerudo's and the whole gang.  I wouldn't be surprised to see some new races as well.

Very true....it can never be the best w/o gerudos!

It says TP takes place several decades after OoT.
Therefore it is no more than about 90 years after OoT. Races would take a lot longer to completely die out.
Title: Re:Races and enemies.

Yeah, usually it takes thousands of years, or maybe even millions.
But if the Gerudos arn't in it anyway, so help me god.....!

It can easily be 200 years. Besides, they don't have to die out not to be in the game. If they don't fit in the game Nintendo won't add them. I must also add that civilizations has in the past been completely wiped out in just a day, or so. Atlantis, anyone? So the Gerudo could have easily met their end before TP.

And remember that Aonuma said that TP is between OoT and TWW way before the delay (a few weeks earlier he said he didn't know where it fits, and a month earlier he said that it's after TWW), so the information is somewhat outdated. Back when he made that statement they were still making changes.

Take the Twilight Realm for example. At E3 2005 it was black-white, and everyone who entered it turned into animals. A few months later Link was the only one who changed. At E3 this year the black-white of the Twilight Realm was gone and now it's a very strong orange colour.

oooh calm down it was just a thought.

Anyway, If it was like 200 years they probably would have had said centuries. We will find out when it is released.

Maybe he did say centuries. Translation isn't always perfect. Plus, he might have said decades to mislead us.
Title: Re:Races and enemies.
Post by: Pale Dim on September 03, 2006, 04:48:04 AM
Well, it would take centuries if they were being hunt to extinction, but other than that....
Title: Re:Races and enemies.
Post by: alical on September 03, 2006, 06:17:01 AM
Yeah, but even if they were there would probably be some who escaped. I think the only reason some of the races would not be in the game is if Nintendo just decided they didn't fit and they just didn't show themselves. I doubt they will not still exist.
Title: Re:Races and enemies.
Post by: Evilslayer on September 08, 2006, 05:50:04 AM
Many fans seem to think the new races are extinct in the old games. How do we know that? How do we know that the Tentari/Parapa Deserts aren't inhabited by Gerudos/Zunas? How do we know the Ruto Mountains isn't inhabited by Gorons? How do we know the forests aren't inhabited by Kokiris/Deku Scrubs?

The Gerudo may not be in TP, but I'd bet you anything they're not extinct any way. In OoT they only have a fortress and a temple. There's no way that's their whole culture.

In reality they would have towns, or at least villages. Even if they consist only of tents, they would still be there.

Top Bannana...

Anyway, I have now seen Iron Knuckles as well, They look seriously awesome, they have great swords!

Title: Re:Races and enemies.
Post by: Evilslayer on September 17, 2006, 10:01:11 AM
Or maybe they're DARKNUTS. :-*
Title: Re:Races and enemies.
Post by: alical on September 17, 2006, 12:05:52 PM
Yeah, I know iron knuckles usually have axes, but this one looked a LOT more like an iron knuckle than a Dark nut.

It had the chainmail and the helmet looked very similar to an iron Knuckles. But the sword looked very Wind Waker esque. With a weird glow.

How can you say it looks more like an Iron Knuckle? The ones in AoL are identical to the Darknuts in LoZ. :-*
Title: Re:Races and enemies.
Post by: alical on September 21, 2006, 11:16:43 AM
Sheesh, take a chill pill!

I meant it looks amolst the same as an OoT Dark nut.
So stop jumping on loose ends all right?
You seriously need to calm down.

Noticed the  :-*-smiley? It means I wasn't entirely serious, anyway. :-* I think they look more like the Darknuts/Iron Knuckles from LoZ and AoL, and for that I'm happy.^_^

I hope they turn at least one old baddie race in an official race. Like what LA/OOT did for the Zora, MM for the Deku Scrubs and TWW for the Moblins (even though that was only Moe). I always love it when they give us a bit more insight in the clearly more intelligent ones.

Somehow TP looks like a sort of remake of the original Zelda64. Not saying it is, but I do see some interesting similarities. If that's even slightly the case, then we can't tell for sure whether it's a Dark Nut or a Iron Knuckle. Why? First of all, Dark Nuts and Iron Knuckles are like Deku Babas and Boko Babas. In Japanese, both their names end with "nakku". Secondly, search google -> images -> early iron knuckle. They could be trying some small redesigns.

You're saying something. The new Darknuts remind me of the gold-armoured Darknuts from the old Zelda 64. The only big difference is that their armour is black.

As for baddie races turning into NPC races, I agree completely. I think they could bring back the Goriya and Daira (neither of which I believe are minions of Ganon) and make them into tribal peoples.

I'd also like for the Darknuts to be given their own races. Kind of like in a fan fic saga I'm planning to write. In that saga there's a tribal human-like people (I haven't decided their name) that's been worshipping Ganon for centuries and prior to his return they moved to Death Mountain where their Elders prophecied would be the place the Prince of Darkness would open his portal to the Light World. The Darknuts are a group of knights offered to Ganon when they are only a few years old.

Yeah. Being a fan of AOL, I really miss them. But I'd also enjoy seeing a bit more of the "original" river Zora. I think they're incredibly beautiful.
(Why don't you consider the Goriya and Daira Ganon's minions?)

Tell me when that fanfic is finished. I'd love to read it.  :)Pheh, I think the Darknuts as shown in TWW look like dogs. If I can't remember their name, I call them Anubises.

I agree, Gorons are known for feats of strength, they were probably just boxing so Link could earn the respect of the Gorons. It looked kind of like a Darunia-ish Goron

Actually, the Gorons have been having dissagreements with the Humans, and the Goron's have been on guard duty, so that humans cannot cross death mountain. Terrirorial issues if you will. They are by no meens evil, they've only been ordered to fight.
