Title: The Gerudos
Post by: Nabooru on July 03, 2006, 08:29:29 PM
How do the gerudos live in a place thats all dungeons and cells. I mean I know there is one room with chili or something but seriously! Theories?

My theory is that somewhere like behind the horse back archery game there is a door where you can go to the rest of gerudos fortress with like a street market and pretty houses and things that you have to be a real gerudo to get to.Because I think after link defeated gannondorf they let people in to that part.

Maybe it toughens them up! There is probably an extra bit where they live. I mean would you really want guards strolling around your bedroom?

I agree with Nabooru.  We don't get to see that actual living area of the Gerudos.  But I think that they live in tents.

Tents? Wouldnt that like make them indian? By houses I kind of meant like apartment like things made of the same stone.

I agree with Twilight Zelda.  The Gerudo are a tough race and they can handle living conditions that other Hyruleans can't handle.  I bet they are pretty happy living in tents.

Hi no Seijin siad the part about the tents...and are you really that closed minded to think thats all there is to the gerudos, and that they just let people patrol in there bedroom!?

I believe that the Gerudu were origionally a nomadic race, in that they travelled around and in the desert moving as resources became scarce. Perhaps Gerudu valley was just the least harsh place to live in, due to it's close proximity to a river and quite flat land.

I know.  I was agreeing with here about the part about the environment toughening them up.  No, I don't think that, I think they have a tent village somewhere with tents for individuals without guards intruding.

I agree with this.  Perhaps the Gerudo were once nomadic.  Besides, I don't think the desert would have enough stones for everyone to have a house made of one.  And stone absorbs heat, so it's going to get really hot inside.  Cloth, on the other hand, can have more air blow through it, thus keeping it cooler inside.  And when it gets cold at night, as most deserts are bound to get cold at night, it helps keep warmth in.  Tents are more beneficial for the Gerudos to live in.

(SPOILERS)I know it's not canon, but Dark Link's Eloze, found in the Library of The Grand Adventures (http://www.nintendoland.com/zelda) portrays most of the Gerudos as a nomadic tribe, showing what I mean by it's beneficial for Gerudos to live in tents.

What better way to torture their prisoners a little bit?  A prison is a harsh place, and the stone reflects that in the desert.  Their tents are their homes, and stone in the desert isn't exactly homely.

It's like what I said earlier.  Stone gets hot easily.  It's not going to be cool in that fortress.  If you're going to live in the desert, would you want to live in stone?  No; it's going to be unpleasant.  That's why the Gerudos don't use stone for their personal homes.  Tents are much better to live in in the desert than stone is.

Not true.Stone is cool when it's dark and I highly doubt that there's sun on every part of the 'fortress',all day.(At least they'd be able to sleep at night.I hate it when it's hot at night!)

Then they would freeze unless they have a lot of blankets.  Either way, I wouldn't want to live in the desert in stone building.

A tent allows both ample space for circulation to go on so the air doesn't get too de-oxyginated (Stuffy), can be sealed for cold climates and helps give shelter from the constant heat and sun. What more could one want in a desert?!! (Besides a large Oasis)

Fair point, but I think we thouroghly discussed the Gerudos' living situation.

Maybe they live in burrows like grounhogs. That would be cool, but very uncivilized.

They have animal skulls(especially bulls)around the fortress. So,they must have a lot of skins and furs for blankets. :P

Nonsense.  Just because they live in burrows wouldn't mean they are uncivilized.  Living underground would be part of their culture.

True, but they would have thousands of tunnels and passageways.

If the Gerudos did live underground during the time of OoT, they would've probably been there years before.  Living underground that long would teach them a few things, one of them being how to prevent cave-ins.

I still dont think they live undergroundbut I beleive we have discussed all on our mind as of now so *locked*
