Title: Thoughts? Opinions? (post-Day One)
Post by: Jack on June 14, 2005, 11:06:39 PM
Well, now that we have a day of HA2 under our belt, what do you guys think of it? Any suggestions for new features? Improvements? Any complaints?

I'm all ears!

I still disagree with the whole "no more 'view online' and 'view members posts'". I have dial up internet...yes I know I live in the 20th centuary and it takes me a long time to find everything. It pretty much takes me 3 minutes to go from North Castle to Ruto and by then there are 4 new posts. So I say bring those back. That is the only problem I have.

Well, I guess Rugger points out both a good thing and a bad thing. Bad thing: yes, I cannot imagine wading my way through on dialup. Even with Cable internet I get some server lag here and there (where all I need to do is re-click and it usually gets me to the next area).

But the good thing that's pointed out is how HUGE this place is! It's gargantuan! Seriously, I'm already addicted. There's just so much to explore, though it seems like between Rugger, Darilan, and Grenada, a lot of it's been scouted out. Quests are actually pretty hard now, even if you have some tricks up your sleeve. But the size is wonderful. Now I need to start paying more attention to the work Narrator put in, reading things more carefully (i.e. place descriptions, etc.).

Speaking of quests, last night I spent a good deal of time trying to find both the Mayor's Trophy (pile) and the Rito child's toy. Can you tell me just this--do they even exist yet? (Yea, I'm that desperate).

Well,to find the Link Doll, you have to go to the Flats and search the whole place. It takes patience and luck,my friend.*Laughs*It took me a long time before I accidentally stumbled on it...

Well, admittedly, it was (relatively) a whole lot easier to find when it existed. ^^ Made me happy to see the little thing.

And I assume that the Mayor's Trophies are still unattainable by natural measures at the moment (unnatural measures being to break into shop.php/asdfklaldfas=13 or whatever but that'd be robbery XD. No worries)?

Well do to some circumstances I won't be able to participate anymore in the game, so if you want to make Rugger a NPC then go ahead.

I will be able to stay on the forums though so you haven't heard the last of me.  ;D

Whaa? You'd still be more than welcome to stick around even if you only post a few posts a week... keep that in mind?

That would be pretty pointless in my opinion the way people are leveling up. It would be better if my character was a NPC.

*fatherly tone*

Now, Rugger. I'll tell you the same thing I told Crambert yesterday.

Out of the average "fast leveller" who has around 4 TP right now, only 1 of those 4 had anything to do with level. Someone could have 3 TP right now with only 3 posts; assuming they were clever enough to unearth the hidden items. Seriously ((1) "I found your doll, 2), I found your bundle, 3) I found your trophy"))! Posting, to me, while the level up every 50 posts is a good incentive, I find that it's more of an important tool to character creation.

All in all, I don't think that lack of power is too much of a concern. Lack of a multilayered Rugger? Maybe...

Hope you can get some interest on those 2 cents ^^. And you're always welcome to swing by on a quest and lend a blade.

Well I just don't have the time to be an active member in the game anymore. So I will just have Rugger be an NPC and show up here and there like Wyndisis.

I'll still be around, just an NPC who makes guest apperances and gives out advice  ;D

 :'( Now I'm sad...

Show up often, Rugger. If you don't I'll be forced to miss you, and I'll turn into a very crazy gorilla-like beast with 5 arms. And crazy 5-armed gorillas end up in the zoo/circus and no one wants that either. If that happened I would have to wreak havok on the entire world(through the use of massive banana-nukes) which would lead to a time-space continuum collapse therefore ending the existance of everything in existance and I doubt many people want that. So now you can see how your NPC'ing in HA2 affects the future of humanity. In other words, show up as much as you can.

Oh boy I better make sure to post often then haha. I think I might post my NPC in Hyrule Castle but I am not sure. But I will have him pop up here and there and of course if you guys are ever in a jam, your favorite Dragoon might show up to help  ;D

Yay, that would be sweet. I'm looking forward to seeing Rugger's special guest appearances, and it would be really cool of we got to have a battle or two alongside Rugger.

Your departure is too bad Rugger, but I'm glad you joined for as long as you did.

Well if you still need me to Mod, Jack, I can still do that along with being a NPC. Unfortunatly I just don't have the time to be actively involved.

Post by: Darth Wyndisis on June 19, 2005, 09:29:15 AM
Being an NPC as Rugger is a good idea as far as I can see.  I made Wyndisis an NPC because I can't have him start over as a weak character.  Right now, he is getting close to being insanely powerful (what goes up has got to fall though. ¿Verdad?)  So him starting new wouldn't make sense.  Same sort of thing applies to Rugger.  As an NPC, you can make him as strong as you want to be, as long as his power doesn't mess up the game (no going on quests and slaying every monster before anyone else can).  Also, like Wyndisis, Rugger needs to be towards the top, making you, bgrugby, commited to raising/keeping him there.  So, after all that blabbering, here's my suggestion:  If you wish, get a new character, one that is passive and does not need to be strong, a scribe perhaps.  That way whenever you find a good amount of time you can stop in and play as an actual character, even go on a quest for the fun of it.

Good point Shadow, I probably should have made Rugger as a NPC from the beginning. I also got an idea for you Shadow, perhaps a meeting of our NPCs  ;D

Excellent idea.  Actually a long time ago I was pictureing a big fight between Rugger and Wyndisis, after Wyndisis turns a bunch of people into fiends that resemble Dark Link, all black with red eyes.  You would be walking through the streets of a city full of these evil people, all of them standing on the side of the road between the tall buildings.  Wyndisis would step out of the crowd into the road about 50 paces in front of you and say, "Mr. [insert your last name here] welcome back.  We missed you.  You like what I've done with the place?"

That would be AWESOME!!! Rugger vs. Wyndisis PART II!!! If you guys want, I can dig out your stats from HA, I have them around here somewhere(Just to add that realistic edge).

Brings back such good memories, and reminds me... we need at least one good rivalry. Anyone volunteer to be my rival?

Yeah you are pretty screwed  ;D

Anyways Shadow, I was thinking of an epic battle as well...something like Anakin vs. Obi-Wan. We will have to plan that for the future.

Wow... I can't wait. Nostalgia overflow!

. I miss that rivalry ^^. I just might have Korind attending the fight, if anything (Rugger: "Korind, stay back. This is between me and him.") Good times indeed!

I've been thinking of a quest, at Nardora, the evil land Wyndisis has resurected, and will so become the ruler of.  He wants to turn turn Hyrule into the same thing.  It will be a quest where we throw away our stats and everything.  I will essencially make myself in control of what happens to whom.  Don't worry, I will be fair.

Hmmm and I wonder who the number 1 character to have something happen to them  ;D

MG, your a mercenary right? Well I(Denning) hate mercenarys, they do things for money unlike clerics whop are good and do it to help. I can start something maybe.

Narrator: :P You're all jealous, aren't you? But how am I supposed to beat The Almighty Narrator? I must think of the greatest Narrator defeating plan ever.  ??? Anyone have any ideas? Other than stealing his Pen...

Rugger: I can't wait for that, t'would be so sweet.

Shadow: Your quest better be as fun as your HA quest...

Weien: Yep, that was a very good and cool rivalry, very classic.

Marin: Yeah, that's right. Our meeting spot at Evan's would be a good place to start since it's already started, and there's no one there so our character's would create a more realistic RP'ing rivalry. (If you do start something, try not to make it too obvious)

I don't think I quite get your last post there, MG... sorry ><.

But I was thinking about Rivalries (and how we need some), and it seems to me that for a good rivalry at least one person (of the feud) needs a good offending trait. In the case of Rugger vs Wyndisis, Rugger disliked how Wyndisis was taking over the world and Wyndisis disliked Rugger's trying to get in the way. Which made for a scrumptious rivalry.

Grenada vs Narrator... I dunno. Neither are the offensive type XD (as far as I've seen it so far). Even just any negative trait isn't necessarily enough (i.e. Arco's zombie-like qualities) save in some special cases (i.e. "I hate all retarded people!"). Now, if we had some racist characters, then we'd be talking!

Just my tuppence.

Grenada vs. Narrator was just a joke, Korind...  ;D But you're right, it would be near-impossible due to both our character's ways.

Whew... that was close... I gotta make sure to stay away from those Hammer of Deku Smashing +45's, those sound dangerous. I was going to say that I needed to get me one of those, but if I accidentally hit myself it wouldn't be pretty.

See but you have been saved from my SECRET WEAPON!!! I like to call it the "Parchment Vanquisher 5001.0" and when used it would destroy all the paper in the world, and than you couldn't write... anything... down. Haha.  :P

NEW CLASS REQUEST

We should introduce PROFESSOR as a new class.  The RPer could choose two paths.  The first is to choose talents that allow one to overload enemies with knowledge, and the second is to choose talents that would make one a really cool professor that is easy to understand, and you can spread knowledge of an enemies weakness.
