why does in link to the past, link has PURPLE hair??was it meant to be like that,or was sumthin wrong with the graphic pixels??
It could've been a technical error. I mean, in the instruction manual, Link's hair is golden blonde, isn't it?
Something like that. Maybe Link dyed his hair.
all i know is it looks extremely stupid.. obviuosly an error in development of the game
I think it makes Link look unique. You know someone's the hero when he has purple hair. :P
it looks funny.pretty fatal error for the main character, huh?
strange...it MUST have been a technical error.i mean they shoulda at least made it brown.but it would be cool if link had silver hair or sumthin...
Well, as Oni Link, he has white hair. But I digress.
Yea, but hes supposed to have whit hair, lol. He wasnt meant to have purple! ;D
i wish he had blue hair
i like it purple lol >:( ;D
i wish the the tunics would change your hair.it would be wierd cuz he will start out as green hair.
It would make you like saria I think you should get to pick at the start of a new game!
then again,i wish you could choose your hair color at the start of the game, and even cuztomize the rest of link!
Yeah that would be awesome!
i no.u might even get to choose ur sword!
that would be so awesome!
strange, how did we get from link having purple hair to customizing ur own character?
I guess it could've been because you had another choice of hair color over purple hair.
Really, though, I don't know why his hair's purple. ...Hmm... He's not a Metamorphmagus, is he? ;D
Maybe he isn't a Metamorphmagus and he just dyed his hair purple. And it's like I said earlier, you know someone's the hero when he has purple hair.
a...metamorphigus? whath that?
Read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and you'll find out.
i have da book, but i dont read in da summer ;)heh heh...
Purple is a fall colour. What season is it in the game? ;D
I didn't think purple could be associated with a season. And I think it's either spring or summer. The only games we see signs of winter in are MM and OoS.
yes,but u see snow in zoras river as an adult.
Yes, that too. But technically, the snow in Zora's River is from a curse, and the snow on Snowhead is a mixture of a curse and being high up on the mountain.
i dont get it,y dont the gorons just move from snowhead?
They probably do during the winter, but remember, it's supposed to be spring up there. The winter was brought about by Skull Kid wearing Majora's Mask. Also, we're getting off topic.
back on topic, his purple hair was pretty funny ;D I noticed it when i was real little.
I have another theory.
Maybe Link was being bullied by someone, and the bully dyed his hair purple against his will. ;D :P
how do we keep losing track!? ???

I believe his hair is pink, but it's not very bright pink, so I can see how it's purple. And they didn't make it blond in the GBA version. I mean, I can see how it would be that way in 1991, but in 2002??? My theory is that it came out in April, so as an April Fool's joke, Ganon put pink hair dye in Link's shampoo. ;D
Well, for the GBA version, they wanted a pixel-perfect translation, so Link's hair had to stay the same color. Although, calling it pixel-perfect is somewhat foolish, since there were small changes, but the overall style of the graphics were the same.
i want link to have blue highlights in his hair .yey that wil be good
isn't it just a technical glitch? But if it was, it would be fixed in the gba version. How very odd...
Link was a rebellious young child;his uncle just never understood him.
i never really paid any attention to the color of his hair, nor did i care
I always thought the light purple/pinkish was really weird and...unsightly. :D
But I think sometimes they change colours so they stand out when there isn't a lot of detail to work with. I do remember seeing something (I know that's not terribly helpful!) once, a watercolour by some Japanese artist, and the girl in the picture was supposed to have light brown hair. Instead, they painted in a similar purple/pink. Although that definitely wasn't pixellated, it might have been sort of the same situation.
I don't know if there's some illustrating technique that uses specific colour switch-outs, or something.
another wierd thing: the game shows link's purple/pink hair, but the official art shows link with blonde hair.
They could only have so many colours in the system. It's because there wasn't any other colour to choose, I assume.
Yes, I doubt highly that they did that on purpose.

Roffle waffle!!oneoneone!
They wouldn't have run out of colors to choose from, because colors are determined by hex codes, not by people making them.
No, more likely they tried to make the color for the dark world Bunny-Link a more reasonable choice. I mean, a blonde rabbit would just not fit the mood of the game.
That, or they thought it would look like blonde from far away.
I always thought the purple was part of the hat...
