Title: OOT=minish cap?
Post by: flaminghalo on July 04, 2006, 03:02:32 PM
when i played minish cap,i noticed that OOT contributed a lot to it.

for instance, when you start a new game,u will notice the song is to that of the ending theme in OOT. second,u get an ocarina that teleports u to pedestals.and third, the last level in the game is dark hyrule castle, similar to ganons castle.also,in the light hyrule castle, there is a courtyard to get through without getting caught by guards.

minish cap and oot arent EXACTLY the same, but they share many similarities.

Yes, those things are true, but there are similar things in many other Zelda games.

Firstly, the ending theme for OoT was, indeed, reused (YAY!), but many other themes were reused, too, such as the Overworld Theme in many Zelda games, Saria's Song in MM, and many others.

Secondly, the Ocarina was reused, too, but a similar tool was used in LoZ, ALttP, MM, TWW, and probably others.

Finally, there are stealth levels in a few other Zelda games as well, like TWW and MM. The Dark Hyrule Castle one is probably related to only Ganon's Castle.

Yeah, the Ocarina of Wind was more similar to the Flute from Link to the Past.

Hmmm...maybe I'll check it out now cuz I love OoT!

I will say that most of the Zelda games have a lot in common with other Zelda games, but the also have a lot in common with popular fairy tales and stories. For instance, when Vaati put on Ezlo's magic cap, he could get his wishes granted. This sounds much like that Mickey Mouse cartoon, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice".

Heh, yes, I found it interesting that the Ocarina of Wind plays the same tune as the Warp Whistles in SMB3 XD

Nintendo sure loves to hand out the Easter Eggs.

Mmm! Easter eggs! Also, the Song of Passing is just a slower version of the Sun Song if you listen closely.

Since we're on the subject of TWW music, Aryll's theme is just a counter-melody of Zelda's theme. And Ballad of Gales ends the exact same way as Minuet of Forest.

I assume these are much more well known and not really worth mention, but: Windfall has hints of Kakariko, Outset is a "bouncy" Kokiri Forest, and Forest Haven is a mix of Kokiri Forest and Lost Woods. Hyrule Castle theme is probably the most obvious.

I wonder how many I've forgotten...

Also, notice how Gohma is in WW and OoT. But in WW she looks more like a roach, and in OoT she's a spider.

Gohma was in TLoZ, LA, and OoS as well.

Come to think of it, after seeing what appears to be Gohma in TP, perhaps it'll give some insight as to how she ended up the way she was in TWW?

I think that since we're branching out into the other Zelda games, I'm going to send this to the General Zelda forum.

All those beatings dented and misshaped her body. I'll bet that this last time in the lava did wonders for her complexion. ;D

1. Zelda's Theme was first used in ALttP, not OoT.
2. That Ocarina reminds me more of the Flute in ALttP.

It's SMB3 that copies. The Whistle Theme was first used in LoZ.
