Don't you think its odd that the desert is right next to the biggest body of water in hyrule in OoT? And also they have that big water fall thing and little fish pond too...
Not really. The desert gets far rougher and harsher an environment the further away from the waterfall you get so this shows the effect that the water has on the land. There are many continents that have deserts starting next to the sea so it doesn't seem that unlikely. And besides, this is Hyrule, a land blessed by a group of Goddeses', anything can happen (Besides sheep flying).
Yeah I guess your right Iwas thinking more in the sence of rain but oh well.
Imagine if it rained at Gerudo Fortress.All the Gerudos would be running around with buckets,trying to collect raindrops. ;D

Yeah, they don't actually live in the desert. They live just outside of it. I think the desert extends much father to the west than we're allowed to travel in the game. (The sandstorm blows us away)
