Title: Not Photoshop, but I think it's good
Post by: Hi no Seijin on July 21, 2006, 04:36:18 PM
I know it's not Photoshop; it's a photo touch-up program on my computer.  But I think these pics are neat:

Here's Hryule Field; looks like an old photograph, huh?

The rest I have to link to:

A photonegative of an Iron Knuckle. (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/IronKnuckle4.jpg)  I applied a solarized effect for this one.

An antique Iron Knuckle. (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/IronKnuckle3.jpg)  I applied an antique effect to this one twice.

An Iron Knuckle using a sepia (whatever that is) effect. (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/IronKnuckle2.jpg)  I think it sort of looks like a cut-out from an antique photograph.

Thanks.  I may take the rest of Hyrule and do the same that I did for Hyrule Field.

Well, I know what I'm doing today. :D

I have some sketches of Link.  They don't come close to artists such as Melora (her works can be found in the Museum of TDC) or Louisa (the webmistress of Indie Zelda), but I think they show a quality far better than what I normally do.  I can scan them into the computer and post those too.

Edit:  Here are some more photos I modified.

(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/GerudoValley.gif)  As you can tell, it's Gerudo Valley with the parchment map look.
(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/KokiriForestandLostWoods.gif)  Here's my favorite place in OoT, Kokiri Forest.
(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/LakeHylia.gif)  Lake Hylia isn't my favorite place, but it wouldn't be Hyrule without it.
(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/TheAreaofCivilization.gif)This is what I called the Area of Civilization.  Hyrule Castle, Hyrule Castle Town, Kakariko Village, Zora's Domain, and Goron City are all in there.  The Gerudos are in the desert, so they aren't included, and the Hylians don't know about the Kokiri, so it didn't make sense to include them.

Finally, here's Link riding Volvagia. (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/LinkRidingVolvagia.jpg)  I think this was official art, I'm not sure, but I modified it anyways.  I applied the sepia effect, the antique effect, and a soft glow effect.

Edit 2:  Whoops!  I took a couple of wallpapers and modified them.  Here.

A Metallic Link to the Past (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/AMetallicLinktothePast.jpg)
Old Map of Termina (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/OldMapofTermina.jpg)

Feel free to use them, but if you want to submit them anywhere, give me credit.

Actually, that was a photo touch-up program on my laptop.  I'm not that good of an artist.  I'm flattered you think that's real metal, though. :)

Well, I have nine more pics for you.  So here goes:

First up are oilified versions of existhing pics.

Number 1 (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/TheHeroofTimeinOils.jpg)
Number 2 (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/OilifiedDownslash.jpg)
Number 3 (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/HeroofTimePortraitinOils.jpg)
Number 4 (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/DefenseinOils.jpg)  And that's it for link.  But here (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/HyruleFieldinOils.jpg) is an oilified screenshot of a TP screenshot.  That blurry white streak is the IGN.com tag, by the way.

Now for some more modified screenshots, these coming from OoT.
Number 1 (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/MetalLinkBeforeMetalGanon2.jpg)
Number 2 (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/MetalLinkBeforeMetalGanon.jpg)
Number 3 (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/MetalLinkandMetalTwinrova.jpg)
Number 4 (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/MetalGanon.jpg)  A rather nice metal effect, don't you think?

So do I.  I just wish I could do more with it, but programs like that are beyond my reach right now.  Hmm, actually, there's Paint.

Um, okay, sure.  If you don't mind ruining your computer.

Man, TWW screenshots don't do modifications so well.  Here's some more of my handy work.

Quite interesting little things. But when you say 'oiled' what do you mean? Usually I think of oil painting, but those pics don't exactly have the quality of oil paint...

Quite interesting with the metal work. It's almost like metal engravings. There was a particular dutch artist that make a LOT of detail in metal prints. And that's saying a lot.

Hmm, now if only I could find a way to a downloadable program for such photo mod programs... hmm...

Okay, I'm taking pics and modifying them with a photo touch-up program.  I'm just going by what it says.  I could care less if the oilified pics have the quality of actually oil paintings.  I just care if it looks cool.

Anywho, I have more!
Metal Wolf Link (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/MetalWolfLink.jpg)
Oilified Wolf Link (http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/OilifiedWolfLink.jpg)

I have loved that screenshot since I saw it!
The metal effect really works with it.

And I loved oiled outset island.
Great!

It's not Photoshop.  Nor is it my photo touch up program that came with my laptop.  I actually drew the thing below.  I hope to get some more of my actual drawings up soon.  May be a couple of months until I get a scanner.

Is ... is that supposed to be Link's head?

And the "oiled" pictures look really cool.

Thanks.  I seem to have an eye for spotting coolness as I modify pics.  And yes, that is supposed to be Link's head.  I was basing it somewhat off of this emoticon:  :o

Don't worry.  My other drawings are slightly less crapier. :P

I like editing pictures too. I usually set the contrast really high, then I mess with the tint and saturation.
Title: Re:Not Photoshop, but I think it's good
Post by: Hi no Seijin on January 30, 2007, 09:40:35 PM
Hmm, I wonder if changing contrast and stuff like that beforehand will make pictures that didn't really seem all that cool modified look cool after changing contrast and stuff like that.  Now I have something to do besides play video games before I go to bed. ;D

Ugh, sorry for the double post, but hey, I'm showing you some more of my handiwork, so it's okay, right?

Anywho, over the past couple of weeks or whenever it was that I worked on these, I took some Fire Emblem sprites and modified them to look like characters for my fanfics.  And now off we go!

(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/Avatars/RoseAvatar.jpg)My character, but Blank was the one who actually modified it for me.  Titania from FE 9 looks like Rose Hillmound, the main character for The Land of Legend.
(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/Other%20Sprites/Modified%20Sprites/BarisHillmound.png)Baris Hillmound, deceased husband of Rose.  He was modified from Artur from FE 8 (the sprite, along with other FE 8 sprites, was ripped by Snowyiji).
(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/Other%20Sprites/Modified%20Sprites/JillHillmound.png)Jill Hillmound, Baris's mother, which makes her Rose's mother-in-law.  She was modified from Louise from FE 7 (sprite ripped by Megaluigi4).
(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/Other%20Sprites/Modified%20Sprites/DoyleTarm.png)Doyle Tarm, King of Tarm in the land of Holodrum.  Modified from King Fado from FE 8 (the only FE 8 sprite ripped by Rc5).
(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/Other%20Sprites/Modified%20Sprites/Veran.png)Veran Left, Rose's sister.  Contrary to popular belief (which I'm not even sure is popular or if anyone believes this), she is not the Veran from OoA.  (Modifed from I don't know who from FE 6, sprite ripped by Bonzai.)
(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/Other%20Sprites/Modified%20Sprites/Onox.png)Onox Left, Veran's son, is also not the Onox from OoS.  Either way, Veran and Onox are a dastardly duo.  Modified from I don't know who from FE 6 (sprite ripped by Bonzai as well).
(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/Other%20Sprites/Modified%20Sprites/OlderSheilaRantil.png)(http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/Hi-n0_Selj1n/Other%20Sprites/Modified%20Sprites/SheilaRantil.png)Sheila Rantil, a (so far) minor character in TLoL and my character for HA2.  The one on the left is Sheila as she would appear in the fanfic; the one on the right is her when she was a few years younger.  (The one on the left is modified from I don't know who [again :-*] from FE 6, ripped by GWIA; the one on the right is modified from Farina from FE 7, ripped by Megaluigi4.)

And that's all I feel like showing for now.  Maybe I'll show you all some more later.

Yeah. :P

Still, the sprites do fit the characters well...
Title: Re:Not Photoshop, but I think it's good
Post by: Hi no Seijin on September 14, 2007, 07:58:56 PM
That they do.  I'm still a bit surprised that I was able to find FE sprites for them all (well, with the exception of Rose, but she's always been a special case :P).  I'm especially pleased with Veran's sprite; whoever that woman from FE 6 is, she not only portrays an accurate picture of Veran Left, but Veran from OoA as well.  I can easily imagine OoA Veran once looking like that.

Hrrrm... well, in regards to the earlier works you did; you could download Pixia or GIMP. They're like photoshop, but free. I've heard GIMP is better than Photoshop, but I opted for Pixia instead. They're pretty easy to use, actually.

And your sprite editing skills are pretty good. I... can't do that. It's like... impossible.
