Title: Gas Saving Tips
Post by: Darth Wyndisis on July 31, 2006, 01:01:39 PM
http://www.howtoadvice.com/SavingGas

I figured I would post this for anyone who drives.  We all know the gas prices are crazy.  There are thirty good tips on there on how to save gas.

Have the gas prices affected the way you drive?  Often when I am on the freeway and the traffic isn't too dense or too fast I will cruise at 60 mph.  It saves a lot.

Whoa!  This is getting way off topic.  It is about saving gas, not whether or not you have driving priviliges.

off topic:  I can't get the modify button to work on EmeraldLink's post.

on topic:  I'll have to get a job soon to pay for gas.

Just remember this, too, guys: NEVER use cruise control while going up or down a hill; doing so will waste fuel.

Really?  I think there are two types of cruise control.  There is the kind that keeps the speed the same the whole time.  I can see that wasting gas because it uses more gas up the hill to keep the same speed.  Then there is the kind that gives the car a steady flow of gas and therefore will slow down going up and speed up coming down.  I don't see that wasting gas.

I have a job, but know car to use gas money on ;D Why can't I have a car, my friend already has a car. Anyways, how much do you think gas will cost in the next year?

Oh, don't remind us! :-X

As for you, DW, I was talking about the cruise control that keeps speed constant.

Some of the major gas companies (I forgot which one, but I think Shell was one of them) was supposed to be investigated by the government.  They thought that the three gas companies they were investigating were meeting and setting the prices, which is apparently illegal.  My Gov't teacher said the price of gas would go down a little bit, but I don't remember that happening.

Someone told me that if we boycott major fuel companies like BP (BP has the lowest gas prices, so it is tempting to buy) they will have to further lower their prices, and it somehow the other companies prices go down too.  Yeah, that's what I interpeted it.  I don't know crap about economics.

I like the one about how to buy gas at the coolest time of day because of the change in density.  That is good to know.  Good thing I live in a cool state.(kinda)
