This is a topic for the strangest of the pervearse. Are there any thoughts as to the identity of the deku scrub that's frozen in the beginning of Majora's mask?
I was always haunted by that twisted face...
Seems that we know the identities of the other mask transformations. But in both of the other cases, they are dead and horribly scarred.
What horrors must have befallen the twisted face of this child?
Well, after Woodfall Temple, if you return the Deku Princess to the Deku Palace, you go can to the side and meet the Deku Butler. Keep up with him and you'll get the Mask of Scents. He'll say that you remind him of his son. Then, when you beat the game and if you sit through all of the credits, you'll see the Deku Butler kneeling by the frozen Deku Scrub at the beginning of the game. So the frozen Deku Scrub is the Deku Butler's son.
Gah, it's been many years since I've last played the game. But you gotta wonder how the Deku Butler's son got out and died in such a gruesome manner.
I don't think he did. I think that Majora, controlling Skull Kid, killed the Deku Scrub and took his essence. When he came across Link, he just put the Deku's essence into Link, transforming him.
So, you're saying he didn't die, but Majora killed him... Technically, I think you just contradicted yourself, buddy. ;D
I think I meant "did." ;)
maybe hes just a lost soul, who turned to stone at the day of his death. Maybe he like the flute player in AlttP, maybe he was tranported to the dark world.
Wait, there was a Dark World in a parallel world? :o
all things are possible i guess
anyhting is possible. It could be, i dont know, its juts my theory on this strange thing.
Ok, I'll explain as best I can.
When you chase after Skull Kid in the beggining of Majora's Mask, and you come across the tree that looks like a Deku, it is, but Skull Kid probably came across him first, and probably took his soul. Then when he says something about Epona, he makes you a Deku, that is probably the Dekus soul. And that tree/Deku is the Deku Butlers son, so at the end of the game (when u beat Majora's Mask), he's kneeling down in front of the tree/Deku. So you see, it's his son.
How would the Deku Butler get through the steel door beneath the Clocktower? It was sealed shut.Anyway,I think it was his son.he looked like he was crying over the tree-like deku.(The Deku Butler I mean.)If you L-target,and talk to Tatl, she says, look at this tree,it looks so sad.Or something like that.
she says exactly that, and TP Zelda makes a very good point.
Yeah!i think she's absolutely right! :)

But maybe it was Skull kid who put that door there, and after all the bad things went away, the door disappeared or opened or something.
The deku butler came a loooooong way to pray at the statue.I thought ALL the curses were broken afterwards? :-\
It said that Skull Kid killed that Deku child to make the Deku mask. So there was probably no way of bringing him back. Poor deku butler. :(
Poor Deku child! :'(

Look at it this way. Link does something different everytime he sets back time. However, everyone else does the same thing unless Link interacts with them. That means Darmani still dies in his attempt to save the Goron village and Mikau still dies from his attempt to take back Lulu eggs. Of course, those weren't exactly curses caused by Majora's Mask. So I'd assume the curses were lifted. Or that Link went around Termina using his Song of Soaring and lifting all of the curses before fighting Majora.
As for the Deku in the beginning, I believe he was killed. And you can't bring the dead back to life. You can reanimate them, but they won't be alive.
I just look at it this way: Link only goes back three days in time. Anyone who died before those three days, or got in a situation that would inevitably cause his death later, cannot be saved. The Deku child was killed before those three days, Darmani was and Mikau got in the earlier described situation. Being killed is not being cursed. Curses can be lifted, dead = dead.
And for the fact all things Link did for others happened in the end: I think this has something to do with Termina. It's obvious that place has a strange link with time (Clock Town anyone?) and therefor I think that influenced time in MM. Or it could be that is the true effect from using the Ocarina Of Time. After all, Link always used the Master Sword before to travel through time, not the Ocarina.
Poor deku child :( :( :( :( :(
it makes me sad :'(
Yeah, evil once again rears its ugly head in a horrible fashion. Makes you wonder... People arent born meen, or evil.. What happenes to them that warps their mind so?
Fear and betrayal can do nasty things. Or even the most stupid of accidents. And then there's the wish for power.
or a wish for help if your in the situwation like the deku child
In TP there was a cut scene where the light spirit Lnayru shows Link a telepathic movie of what could happen if he's not careful. It shows Link, and his friends finding the dark power, and then turning on eachother in hopes of ruling it. Power does nasty things indeed.
ok .I dont know what to say to that ,maby thats a bit weird maby not. i dont know :(
