I saw this trailer for TP and the characters mouths were moving, and there were no subtitles. I wonder if this means that Link will talk. :-\
There was probably no subtitles because it was a trailer. Since when do they have subtitles? And I doubt they can be called subtitles. They are more like speech bubbles, and if you saw the footage for the Goron Mines demo, you would see them. Also, I doubt Nintendo will have Link talk. I think they would prefer it if we supplied a voice for him instead of them supplying a voice for him.
Well, if they make the other characters talk, that would be okay too.
Funny I have developed his voice in my head from like his shouts and stuff...The adult one is a lowish tenor.
Yeah, and little Link has this little squeaky voice. ;D
but of course...yeah I know it is kind of weird but I can imagine him talking.
Sometimes kid Link sounds like a girl.
Yeah sometimes I do like the other one though.
I've never been able to picture him talking... only 'HA!' 'HUP!' ect.
What excatly is the trailer in question?
I dont know....I just imagined mine...
He talked in when he was in that cartoon for the Super Mario Bros. Super Show. But I don't think he'd sound like that.
QuoteSometimes kid Link sounds like a girl.
His voice actor is a girl. :-*
Which is OK because Bart is voiced by a girl. And no one will talk, they will do their grunts and screams but thats it.
In Wind Waker, he says "Come on!" when you call Medli or Makar. So he sort of talks.
I have an idea of Links voice in my head as well. It would ruin it if there was a voice actor and there voice was nothing like I imagined it!
I don't ming the grunts and stuff, but they have to be nice and manly for TP link, cos he IS a teenager!

Totally I dont want him to talk.
Then he might never stop talking!Between him and Navi!I'd have a perminent migrane! What would he have to say anyway? ;D
I don't really mind if Link never talks, just as long as Navi never has any speaking roles!
Is navi even in TP?
And besides, I would kinda like it if Link talked for once in the games, ya know? ;)
Nah, I don't think she's in TP, but Link IS going to have a fairy in PH.
I seriously don't want that to happen (voices). Not only would it ruin the game, but do you people realize what that will mean for the non-japanese release dates? Because I don't think the West wanna hear Japanese, but English. And dubs take a lot of time in a game as big as TLOZ. That would be a huge delay. Small random stuff like the "come on" and "listen" is fine.
I suppose. ::) But I really would like to hear him talk! :(
Well, this isn't PH, now isn't it?
I was just watching a preview of TP and Link is still baking his grunts as he attacks, but they don't sound like any of the ones from other games. Also Midna makes girly noises at the beggining of when she talks to you.

Oh. Well, you mentioned it, so I.....
That's alright! ;)
Anyway, back on topic.....

I always imagined her voice sounding boyish for some odd reason.
Yeah, but in this she sounds quite high pitched.
I imagine Link (I'm talking about WW Link) to sound like this boy I know in the Newspaper Club.
lol, its wierd how TP Links voice is deeper... :'(
Deeper than adult OoT Link, you mean?
Yeah :-*
Remeber that Shigeru said, that Link will age through the game? His voice will then change a little. I also noticed that in the Wii version, Link's voice is deep, but in the NGC version, his voice is the same from Adult Link OoT.
I like that voice.
You mean from the NGC version? What was his name again, him who is playing Adult Link's voice in OoT?
I don't know. But I think the person who did kid Link's voice was Koji...something. I think.
i've never herd o koji before
Woah!!! His voice will change through the game?! :o

Koji Kondo is the man behind TLoZ music.
Ohh... Now i remember! Nobuyuki Hiyama is Adult Link, Fierce Deity Link, Soul Calibur 2 Link and TP Link voice. Fujiko Takimoto is Young Link's voice. And Sachi Matsumoto is TWW Link's voice.
Do you know guys, that they made Tingle from Koji Kondo? They look very alike.
no :-[
:-X really? :o :-[
hey guys, can i post TP news on the chatboard? on not? cause i got some really exiting news
You can talk about anything on the chatboard, I believe. Go for it! I wanna hear the news! :)
ok! ;D ill try.
If it is a spoiler, then remeber to put a SPOILER warning please.
Well people will say things like "Oh what's that?" to link so he may make the motions of speaking but he won't be able to speak. Miyamoto said this in one of his interviews.
Really? Darn it! >:(
Why? I think those minor sounds are charming. Real voices could be nice, but I don't know. At least it will delay the game's release and create a distance between the player and Link.
What about subtitles? :-*
Miyamoto said that many people have different ideas of how Link sounds, and that if it is different from what they thought they may be slightly turned off from the game.
Still, they could give him some actual lines. It doesn't have to be much. Like if someone asks him what his name is, he could just simply say, "My name is Link." I'd be happy with that.
Yeah. Well, you kinda do talk, only not out loud. 'Cause like, when you in a shop, and you talk to the owner, it says, "Talk to shop owner." "Browse"
True, but I tire of the "..." thing while Link is answering.
I saw a video of the game. There are subtitles, not real talking. The only thing that could've set you off is how there mouths move while the subtitles are in the picture.
This game does not feature extensive voice acting. Why?
Mr. Aonuma: We've obviously carried this on from the previous Zelda games. We can express what we want within the game without having to use a lot of voice acting. While I can't say for certain it will always be like that with Zelda games, the way we've done it for The Wind Waker is suitable for the world. Also, as people have played Zelda over the years, they have formed their own ideas of how Link might sound. If we were to put a voice in there that might not match up with someone's image, then there would be a backlash to that. So we've tried to avoid that.
This is a quote from an interview
Well, it's not so much that I want voice acting. I just want to see Link answer questions without seeing ... all the time.
Yeah but if link says something people may think cheesy or stupid it will tick some people off.
Like what?

Tough luck, then. It wouldn't hurt to add that much more realism to the game.
Well, if they do add voices into the game, that would just give Nintendo ANOTHER excuse to delay the release date.
Except they'll never add voices to the characters, and that's not what I'm asking for.
But still, if they were having them just say little words like "Hey", "Hi", and "Bye", they would probably have to take some time to find people to do those voices.
Or they could simply do it themselves. I highly doubt you need to be a professional to have someone record you saying hi.
I know one person that talks!!!
Who's that?
Let's put a little bit more depth to our posts. And I'm glad link doesent talk. He does in some games a little bit. Ive heard him say "Come on!" and he says things in Japanese. :)
Yeah, in WW when he calls Medli or Makar. But what does he say in Japanese?
I wouldn't mind if they added a voice to link. I have practiced his voice and you know what? It sounds like it's from Ocarina of time. I don't usually use that voice though; it's embaressing. :-[ But honestly, I wouldn't mind. It would be nice to hear link talk for once. ;)
Yeah, especially if it is subtitles.

I have a pretty realistic Vaati laugh. And I agree, it would be nice to hear Link's voice.
Miyamoto:I don't mean to deny the value of more photorealistic graphics, but the more realistic graphics get, the more unrealistic things such as bumping into a wall or getting hurt might seem. If not expressed properly, it seems out of place.
This was stated by Miyamoto during an interview for the Wind Waker.
Hmm... never thought of that. :-\
