Unfortunately, summer is rapdily drawing to a close and soon we'll all be crammed back in that blasted desk. So, tell me, who has to face school again this September (or earlier?!) and in what capacity?
Myself: starting senior year in college Sept 7. (Despite being the last year *, not really looking forward to it :-\ )
* Excluding the imminent two years of Law School that shall follow.
Also September 7th. But I'm only a Junior in High School.
Shouldn't affect me too much unless AP Lit decides to be a killer, though. ;D

One of my biggest pet peeves durring the summer is when they start putting up those damn 'back to school' advertizements up in the middle of July. For frig sake, let us live without having Lucifer breath down our necks saying, "School's a-comin' Johnny, best gather up yer school supplies." And all those evil people act disappointed 'cause summer is almost over, but they are really extremely happy. I hate all those reminders about how fast summer goes by. It seems like those advertizements make it all the quicker. AH! Leave me alone!

Well "going back to school" of course has a different meaning for me. While many of you are going back to learn, I have to go back and teach. So remember before you give a teacher a hard time remember...THERE IS ONE HERE AND WE KNOW ALL ;D

It has a guy swimming, and Jaws music playing in the background, then a locker jumps out of the water at him! He let's out this horrific scream, and the screen flashes "it's coming" or something like that. Has anyone seen it? I thought it was clever.

I go up for college on August 19. My college has it so that students move in order by their last name. I think my roomate movies in the day after I do, and I read somewhere that it's proper to wait for them to come so you can see which bed or desk or what have you they want.

Flipin August 16!!!!!!!! We start so freakin' early, and I have registration in aweek and my sisters baby is due soon which is going to living in our house for a couple of months!!! So I shall take it easy for the next couple of days, but not today I have plans.
And I hate back to sholl ads in july too.But I get like 25 dollar target card for "school supplies" I only need five but it good to just have some money.

here's some things i do in school:
Don't do homework untill midterm, if grades are slipping, do homework and raise them
Find out classes your favorite teacher teaches exclussively and take them, makes the year better for you.
In a way, i start Aug, 7, because i do band camp! lol. but the real first day is friday, aug. 25 with the first football game, but we don't start high school classses till 28.

well its not really the practice that sucks, its THE WARM UPS AND CARTIO! AHHHH! we have to do 160 jumping jax 100 situps 80 leg lifts ( the hurt really bad ) and all kinds of stretching...

I do a TON of sports and I'm afraid that it is going to send my grades for a loop because between practices and games, I'm not going to have much time for homework. I've been going to pole-vaulting and basketball practices all summer so I feel like I haven't gotten a break at all... :'(

So will I my math teachers name was Mr. Selph he was so cool! everybody who had him loved him. He loves the dodgers like I do so when I went to the game I brought him a souvenier. Once he tried to pick up a two liter with his teeth and chipped it and he looked like a rabbit. He was kinda cute too, just a little...not really that much but I'll miss him.
Also my english teacher miss pariament was really nice, she was young so she was awesome and did more relvant stuff to our lives. She loved my writing too.

Study blocks are your friends. I used them to do homework. Often, that homework done in my study block was due next class. ;)

My freshmen year wasn't all that bad, minus the locker room incedent, I was ticked with the buly who kept on picking on me, so I threw my shoe at him, and he hasn't bothered me scence, I think I can say that my sophmore year is going to be much better :)

I'm not sure. I asked my dad, and he said that there are standards that degree programs have to follow, but he's not sure if the state sets them. Ask again in about a month, and I may have an answer for you.

Ugh, marching band started today, 9 a.m to 1 p.m. There is a silver lining though. I am more than likely going to be a soloist this year.

yay I made varsity tennis and I am only a freshmen but I am so sore and so tired because we had to practice from 2:00 to 6:00 today and we ran two miles also.

We have a 2 week timetable and we don't get to choose what we do till Year 10 where we take GCSE's.(I just finished year 8 and am starting year 9 in september).
The annoying thing is we dont get to choose the sports we do so we are stuck with like 10 weeks gymnastics(which I hate) and only 4 weeks basketball (which I LOVE!)
We just do ALL the subjects and choose which ones we want to do further in year 10 then 2 years later we choose 3 or 4 we want to take for A-levels!

No public school, I had to take a test to get in though.
During a 2 week rota we do different lessons each day (5 every day, each an hour long).
But for example we will do Maths about 6 times in every 2 weeks.
It's annoying cos I get a bus from near my house to the train station where I get a train to near my school where I walk, and on the first day last year all us train peeps were late!
i take a city bus to get to scholl, but sometimes its doesnt come and im late.

Me too, because some kids arn't athletic, and then they don't do well, and then would fail those classes, and then do it again, and again, and again, and again, and, I think you get the point. Lol.
Well they are elective I think.
I'll be a senior at my school. I start in about a week, and my schedule is a little missed up. We go by 4 blocks per semester and I actually have to take spanish III before Spanish II, which is resp. 1st and 2nd semesters.
School where I am is a total joke, most of the people are really retarded and the teachers will sometimes give the students a 20 or 30 point curve, or drop the test scores entirely. That sorta sucks, because I usually get the highest scores in my classes. And last year, our US history class which was honors was retarded, we barely did any work in the textbook, so all we had was 'cheat sheets' which are read: cheap. I always got a 90 at least on those tests, but everyone else would fail, and the teacher would just drop the grades. THAT SUCKED! I wanted to get a higher gpa from that class, but the teacher always gave me 95's for the six week grades. Whore that lady was.
This year, most of the good teachers are leaving, which is a total loss.

THat teacher's retired now, which sorta sucks. Only one person signed up for AP Chem. so they decided to drop that class, which is EXTREMELY RETARDED.
I've also been in OSS (True suspension) for 6 days in the past two years. I may be smart, but sometimes I'll willingly break the rules because they are stupid. Like uniforms. I tried to sneak past those guys with a sweater on, didn't work forever though. :'( :'(
But hey, at least I got a 4.49 gpa and am 4th in my class!

Well, no, but it was much easier than the other AP science: AP Biology. NOw Biology is all that's left.
That teacher was the head of the science dept. And he taught chemistry, which is required. He was a very good teacher too, explaining things thoroughly and using everyday examples. One of the truly good teachers at Anson High.
I got the highest scores in the following end of course tests:
Chemistry
Physical Science
US history (only like a handful passed, and I was the only one to make a 4 on the scale)
Precalculus (not state test)
2nd highest:
Geometry
Algebra I
Algebra II
English I (97)
There are some others, but I can't remember right now.
The only person that got a reward in english from my class, was magmarfire, which tells that she isn't very good, he is so smart compared to some of us in my class. My other friend is ususaly getting high grades in english, but not this year, he did very bad because she isn't very good, I ususaly get highs scores in english too, but because her the past years, I sucked because she is so boring and I can't concintrate(Spelled wrong) school is going to be tough this year. I made the honor roll 4 times in a row in english untill I went into her class, and squeked out a d-. which is almost failing.
I wrote a monologue for Drama, I was a famous film star!
I hate not choosing my sports. We have 2 hours a week. one is our Games class and the other is PE.

Its so annoying because if it is exercise surely it doesn't matter what we do! I hate Gym. It is all Handstands and Cartwheels. I am almost 14 for gods sake I don't wanna be standing on my freakin' head!

Mine are Art and Math, also really like English. In my state, we only have to do PE for the freshman year, then if you want, you can go on to advanced PE in later years. I never wanted to do that, heh.

Okay, first of all, the science Dept. Is virtually defunct. AP chem. is gone, heh, Advanced Biology is in ramshackles.
The best bldg, K, has now been taken over by Freshmen only. K bldg had everything, a studio, a kitchen, and almost everything needed for science, like the chemicals and other stuff. But now a lot of teachers have left. I know that this is gonna cause a huge problem before I know it. And no way we can go with the science we used too.
We were in an assembly this morning, soI kept cupping my mouth and saying things. Didn't get caught though. But I'm really pissed off at the principal and administration. I kept saying 15 =/= 25. We're sunk. Too bad no one heard what I was saying, heheheheheheh.
I am going to audition for the play! Its Peter Pan! I am also going to the football game!!!!!
Argh are only school play is for the whole school. So the 6th formers get all the good parts cos they are all damn brilliant at singing. I am only half decent at it, I can act though. Last year it was Les Miserables.

I have long homework in like every subject each night! Luckily a lot of out quizzes were on friday so I only had engliish and biologybut, my english is: Read a very long story, do activity one, activity 2A and 2B, do a hundred word summary, define ten vocab words and a 2 min. speech, all due on monday. Yeah sadly I lucked out this weekend.
I have an all-purpose solution that cannot be beat: Simply do your homework in class, couldn't hurt to look and see if the teacher already has HW assigned on the board...
We generally dont have time to do anything in class and this time we did and I didnt even finsh the story it was so long.
And my solution is to keep everything, my speech is supposed to be autobiographical so I dug up one of my old ones and I will just doctor that.
We are gonna get a ton of hw this year due to SATs.
They take them way Too seriously at my school.
We have end of year exams every year so we are used to it.
And they are in May, and we don't doo much in class afterwards, so ya know, its cool.
well you all are extremely lucky I have tech systems class and we have to build a robot from scratch. :'(

I start my first day at community college today. I have a math class: intermediate algebra. I got through pre-calc in high school, but I want to relearn some of the material.

the system the use for calculus and math a and b is like you can retake it on eyear if you need.I dont know if they do that all over or just in New York.
They suggested the class based on my ACT score. I though it was a good idea because I never fully understood some of the concepts. You can't continue learning in math if you don't understand the prerequisits fully.

I went back to school today as well. I almost threw up like 3 times. 1)they wouldn't let me go straight to the band room like they have for the past 6 years
2) they said that we actually had to eat in the caffeteria (which i am seriously deathly scared of) and 3) they gave me <h4>ONE<h> book and my bookbag wieghed tons! grr. so how was your day?

I gotta tell you, I took the SAT back in June and made a 1930. 710 for math, 650 for reading, and 570 for writing. Beat that.

Yeah, you wear it over a shirt/blouse (white for boys blue for girls.)
It looks just like a jacket you would get with a suit.

I should know the horrors of wearing uniforms, My school is a public one and really poor and very low performing. We have to wear blue, white, or orange polo shirts. I hate polo! The material is so freaking itchy! And the Khaki pants make everyone look so bloody dorky.
I tried to pull through the loophole of the uniform policy, but I nearly got caught, so I can no longer do that. I've even been suspended, SUSPENDED, for not tucking my freaking shirt in. I hate those guys so very very much...

Ahem, changing the subject, when you get to college, get every single free thing offered, especially if it's food. Now only if the textbooks were free.
sorry changing subject again. What is offered in all your schools cafeteria? We have regular lunch, salad bar, arbys, blimpie, godfathers pizza and like a little snack center thing. I get salad bar pretty much everyday. Also we have chicken tendor thursday, they are super good, but they are $2.50....so me and my friend split them.

How the heck is that even possible?! Since when do school cafeteria's have a food court? WTF! Seriously, all we have is cafeteria food, but we are so very very poor. We have the same stuff on mondays, same on tuesdays, etc. Just different things each day. Like monday we'll have cafeteria pizza, tuesday we'll have chicken nuggets or fillets, and friday we have hot dogs or fish fillets.
My high school could've put in a train station and I wouldn't have noticed. For my last two years, I didn't go into the cafetaria unless I needed to.
I cant stand our cafeteria, I don't go. I sit with my mates on the fields and eat our lunch watching the dudes play soccer.
Before the holidays, it was hot so we bought loads of water with us and we had huge waterfights, we got told off when we arrived in class soaking wet though...
Anyway we all bring our own lunches because the food in the cafeteria is just: baguettes, pasta, set meals etc. Fries are served once a wekk, and burgers and chicken nuggets are banned.
We can get just fries everyday if we want....its pretty cheap too.
my shcool had nothing but hamburgers and pizza. Thats it. Never anyhting new, really.
Our cafeteria is cramped and bland, I hate it. We eat in classrooms or on the fields. If we are in the classrooms we have to hide the food behind our backs when the teachers walk past. Our form room is in the language block (If it is the same one we had last year) so loads of people walk past.

I'm a real skater and man it sucks I have to wake up at 4:30 in the morning and be at the school by 5:00 to go to rockport for our football game witch is a three hour drive at least we are riding in a fancy bus. :)

Our school musical is Annie, I might audition for a chorus part, If I am feeling brave I may go for a solo, because even if I dont get in I can get a chorus part. Because everyone who auditions gets a chorus part so that there is a bigger cast.
Soccer practice was HARD!!! We did drill after drill and now i have 3 sores on my foot.
I wish it was time for baseball season, I don't play anyother sports, I turned down basketball, don't want to do it realy.

proofs are actually quite hard at first, but they help somewhat in what your trying to define in geometry. They help you out because they give you reason to support your answer.
if you guys think factoring and proofs are hard, wait until your a senior and have to work in AP Calculus and have to understand limits! It can get very confusing sometimes. Got a test tmw, hope I don't screw up.

A weird thing is I was put in a group for Science/ICT/Music. None of the other girls in my class were in my group and I didn't like the boys. But today in Music I was talking sooo much to a boy in my class called Jack. He is actually really nice! He has been messed around by my mate who has dumped him like 10 times over the three years at school. But he is really nice...
And anyway yeah our school is a Grammar school (ie you have to pass a test to get there) so it doesn't get much money. The government puts all their money ionto "under developing" schools.

My Physics claass took the EOC online, but answering 92 questions with loading times is inherently flawed, took me over two hours to get it done... WOn't even be counted either cause my physics teacher is lazy. Oh well, no need to worry about that crap anymore...

I don't have to take the finals in History and Math. I don't have to take History's final since I haven't lost a single citizenship point (which means you act appropriately all the time). Because I'm in math for people 2 years older then us, We haven't learned all the stuff on the test.
