I don't know but who is majora's mask? who is majora, what meens majora. Do you guys have any theori's. I have heard on a site that long ago in termina a evil wizard called majora appeard. With his magic he destroyed many villages in termina. But one day the four gaints heard that termina was in danger so they fought the wizard and won. The sealed the wizards soul in a mask and called it majora's mask. The people of Termina threw the mask in the a dark abyss. It rested ther for thousands years till a mask collecter found it and so the legend of zelda majora's mask begins. What do you think about it?
Well, it says in the game that the mask was used in "an ancient tribe's hexing rituals", whatever that means.
Also, someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading somewhere that "Majora" is how you say "Magician" in Japanese. I don't know if that's right, and it probably isn't, but it makes some sense.
Regardless, I too like to think of Majora as an ancient wizard that was trapped in his mask. I've been writing a story that talks about that, but it's going to take me a long time to finish at this rate.
maybe nintendo makes someday makes a game that ells the history of majora's mask, i really think that its a wizard or a demon that is traped in the mask, and takes over the body of the one that wear's it
Majora is NOT from Termina, so he can't have been an ancient Terminian mage. I'm tired of people claiming he's from Termina.
If you actually pay attention to the game then you would know that the Mask Salesman was in the FOREST when the Skull Kid stole his mask and the way he told Link that he had been following him hints that he's never been in Termina before.
I think that the Majora's Mask is an evil wizard (the mask having it's powers), NOT from Termina, but from some other land, who was locked away by the ancient tribe that it used to belong to because it's evil powers were destroying everything and it was too unbearible to keep. Then, thousands of years later, The Happy Mask Salesman found Majora's Mask while traveling. He eventually got to the forest, when Majora's Mask was stolen by Skull Kid. Then Skull Kid took it back to Termina, where he lives. Of course, we already know that the person wearing Majora's Mask is filled with evil powers, so Skull Kid started making chaos and whatnot. Then Link came along, got his horse and ocarina stolen and then, well you guys know the rest. (Link gets the giants, the giants stop the moon, ect, ect,ect.)

Thank you, Evilslayer! I wholeheartedly agree: Majora isn't a Terminian mage. For all we know he isn't even Hylian; he could come from another world entirely.
And actually, Pickles, your theory comes close to my own. I would say, however, that Majora was locked away by the Triforce itself. This is feasible, since it would have happened at least a couple hundred years before OoT.
Maybe it was locked away by the Triforce, but like you said, Alpha, we don't know if it's Hylain or Termanian or whatever. Of course, they NEVER mention this kind of stuff in the game.
But then again, if they did, this whole section would not be here!!

Majora is the guy in the water wheel place under/in the clock on MM. That's why it's called Majora's Mask. Because the Mask belongs to the guy in the water wheel place under the clock in main clock town. (south clock town)
Majora's Mask is in fact,alive.You fight it.I think it the name Majora,comes from the ancient tribe that it used to belong to.The guy that collects the masks tells you how he went to great lenghths to get the mask.

That's the Mask Salesman, who is totally different from Majora.
I know it is not canon but the MM manga says that Majora was a dragon who lived 10 million years ago, rumour had it his armour would grant the wielder terrible power. One day a man (who looks just like fierce diety) comes and kills the dragon by making him dance for 3 days straight, upon Majoras death he carves a mask from his armour, Majora's mask.
If the man in the manga truly is fierce diety it would also explain the significance of the final battle between Link and skull kid, a recreation of the event that happened thousands of years ago, Majora vs Fierce diety.
