Well, yeah. They are tough. I haven't gotten through L.1 of AOL, and I've only reached L.4 of LOZ after about since the beginning of March. These are tough, very tough.
They aren't that difficult. A few tips for TAOL:
Get the free 50 exp points in the forest north of the first village
Get the Shield Spell from the first village. You can even get the Jump Spell first by entering the cave in the desert. Even though you can't see anything, it's not hard to get it. Watch the floor carefully, so you can see if there's anything crawling around.
Get the heart container south of the first dungeon.
For every dungeon, I would recommend visiting it twice. One time for the item, one time for boss. Don't waste energy you'll need for the boss on getting the item, because you'll need everything (life, magic) you can keep before reaching him.
Don't finish teh first dungeon too quickly. There's a great training area there. Around where the fairy is located are not so tough, yet worthwhile enemies. Use the fairy to restore your life and when you've defeated them all, just leave the dungeon and reenter it. It's really easy to get your first levelups here.
Also, on the path over Mt. Kasuto (not the Path of Fire), when you get that far, don't just run. Those Dairas will definitely hit you then. It will take some time, but if you concentrate on avoiding the rocks you will lose less health than you do if you just run through it.
Well, if you're wondering why I'm far more skilled at LOZ, it's because I'm good with the gameboy.
Plus, this topic is about whether or not you think these two games are the toughest, not if these are far too tough, but I'll allow that.
the games are tough
With the most likely exception of TP, these are probably the toughest.
I just finally managed to beat LoZ the other day.

Actually, Twilight Princess has been fairly easy. I've only been stuck about twice. It's the awesomeness of it that makes it great (if you can imagine what i meen).
Yeah, Twilight hasn't really been that tough. But these games are from a time when it was extremely hard to "beat" a video game.
Hmm,yeah the first two games are tough. I'm playing them on the collector's edition thing
LoZ is moderately difficult, but I gave up pretty quickly on AoL.
Unlike TP, which isn't really difficult at all, unless you have very few heart containers, naturally.
the thing about AoL is that it isn't like any other Zelda game, it was originally meant to be a different game, but it was abandoned and Zelda picked it up.
Oh, I didn't know that about AoL, but that makes sense.
Nor me.
Anyway, Twilight Princess is very easy (except the Lakebed Temple, and this is just from guessing, I've only just started it and am already puzzled, in the room with the staircase. Don't help me in this topic.),
As I have said before there hasn't been a tough or hard Zelda games since AoL. OoT Master Quest was not even as tough in my opinion as the first two games. First time I played through all the games after AoL I was able to get through all the games without dying once. Of course the games after the NES games focused more on puzzles then actual difficulty which is fine because all the games are great.
you sure you want no help? I was stuck there for a while. and it could be repayment for your birthday gift. :-*
No, I'll just use the TP walkthrough.
you aren't a true Zelda fan if you use walkthroughs >:(
then again, you are an idiot if you don't....at least in my case, I spend twenty minutes figuring out the stupidest things. :-*
In zelda puzzles the first piece is always the most dificult one to find, but when you see that candellight is fire the meal has already been cooked.

Absolutely untrue. That is JUST like saying that if you ask questions, then you aren't a genius. Even Albert Einstein asked questions! Do we not consider him a genius? Heck, if it weren't for the fact that he asked questions, he probably wouldn't have made his theory on relativity in the universe.
Here's a quote from
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire (sp?):
QuoteThere's nothing wrong with getting a little bit of help, Will. People open doors for me. It doesn't make you any less of a man to walk through them.

I don't use walkthroughs untill I'm REALLY stuck..
anyways those games are pretty tough yes.. I beat LoZ a couple days ago and I'm getting like halfways in AoL now :)
AoL is the hardest though.. but once u get to know the game a little bit... its not that hard anymore :)
I usually memorize everything after playing the game once or twice, (three times for the hard ones) and I use walkthroughs for Water themed Gamecube dungeons, (I bet you can tell why) but I can figure out all but the toughest things. (I'm an idiot at TP, and gave up on the NES Games)
both loz and aol are impossible!!! >:( >:(
I beet four of the nine LOZ dungeons, but the toughnest and amount of time it took to complete them made me lose interest. I can't beat AOL's first dungeon.
Impossable! i need a good walkthrough... ::)
what problem's are you having on AoL's first dungeon?
Yeah really if you cannot beat AoL's first dungeon then you are either too young or too reliant on walkthroughs.
cue the old man music
Back in my day, we were lucky to get a map of Hyrule for the original Legend of Zelda, not to mention stumbling upon a map for the second quest. For AoL, if we had problems, the only thing we could do was call a friend and if they didn't know we would call the Nintendo Power Hotline and be charged 99 cents a minute for hints. We found our own way around, which made beating the game more satisfactory. Yes, we didn't get the grand show that games give today with endings, all we got was a Game Over, but it was more rewarding knowing you did it on your own. Today, people rely too much on the Internet and Strategy Guides and, if anything, that is what is killing gaming.
End Rant
I wholeheartedly agree, I try to never use walkthroughs or cheats, except for after I've beat the game and want to mess around and find cool stuff or get 100%.
yeah walkthroughs are not a good option unless you have been in the same part for like a year but I prefer to ask a friend how he could solve a puzzle, when I was younger I used some walkthroughs but now I think that the sense of the game is to beat it by myslef.
My Grandma uses walkthroughs for EVERYTHING. I mean she literally follows it, doesn't take a step unless it tells her to.
my friend does that. :) i only really use a walkthrough when i'm stuck, and i'll only use it for parts of the dungeon.
I only use one in really, REALLY hard dungeons and when I'm stuck. Eagles Tower falls under the first one easily.
Twilight Princess is quite easy. I only stayed about twice as much. This is it for life, it makes a great, if you can imagine yourself meen ....
