Some people get confused about how to pronounce the names of the Zelda characters, like one person thought Ganondorf was pronounced "Gann-dorf" and that Saria was "Sar-uh". This is what I think:
Navi (Na-vee)
Anju (An-jew)
Deku (Dee-koo)
Vaati (Vah-tee)
Nabooru (Nuh-boo-roo)
Mikau (My-kow)
Malon (Mahl-un)
Saria (Sar-ee-uh)
Ganondorf (Gann-un-dorf)
These are just some of the names.
Heh, I think Mikou actually is more like mai(soft, but still ee) COO
hmm...
some people think Deku is pronounced Daycoo. heh, but I personally pronounce it Deecoo.
i say deekoo too. I know a kid that said dehkoo, but that cant be right.
It's interesting how people pronounce certain things. :-\
I think this topic merits a trip to the General Zelda Forum.
i agree, but what does it matter, i aint a mod.
Generally, I use Latin pronunciation when I pronounce new words, mostly because I took three years of Latin. So I would say Mikau something like me-cow, and I make the g hard in Gerudo. Also, I pronounce the j in Majora as a juh sound, but Ice from Ice's Zelda Central pronounces the j like an h. It all depends on the person talking.
I pronounce names that are clearly the original japanese names the way I think/know the japanese pronounce them. Anju's "u" is not an "ew" sound, but more like a "uh". Same goes for Deku and Nabooru.
