Well i was just thinking about what i would like in the next zelda game that there going to make .Well in OoT they did night and day but no weather changing so i was thinking it would be nice if nintendo would put weather in the zelda games and also .......... well i've ran out of ideas so what would you like to see in the next zelda game
This should probably be moved to the Zelda board.
I believe they already did weather effects (to a somewhat limited degree) with Oracle of Seasons... and we also had some bouts of rain in all of the 3-d titles, sometimes random, sometimes controlled.
Probably the thing they should do next is create dream or hallucinatory sequences, somewhat akin to Sanity's Requiem. It'd be a bit freaky though, but it; would do a lot to affect the atmosphere in game.
hmm, neah. I respect Silicon Knights for that idea. I think anyone else doing, would feel as a huge rip-off. I like the dreamthings that have already appeared in TLOZ-games (That dreammachine in TMC and LA completely), but it shouldn't be much different from that.
And the weather already did change in TWW.
I would like the GOOD past zelda games like OoT, to beremade with TP grapics, It would only take a year or two, they would'nt speand alot of time pondering over mistakes, the storylines already there. :P
And again, I disagree. I have something against remakes. I don't mind ports or ports deluxe, but most remakes only annoy me. OOT has gotten MORE than enough attention and it will be available for everyone till the end of times. I think there's not one TLOZ-game that deserves less attention than OOT. TLOZ franchise is not OOT.
My problem with remakes is that they place a game back in the spotlights which had more than enough attention and is being loved "despite" outdated graphics (imo, if you care about graphics beyond the point of things being recognizable, you are very shallow). If any game deserves a remake, it's a game that wasn't what it was supposed to be or never got the attention it deserved.
I'd actually like to see a 3D remake of LoZ, and the in-game artwork should be based on the official artwork. And AoL, I think, falls under the category of underrated games, so I think a 3D remake of that game could be justified.
I have two ideas for how that could be done. The first is kind of like a mix between SCII, SSBM and ToS. When you travel the Overworld (or a town) it somewhat resembles ToS.
Then, when you enter a dungeon/Overworld battle, it becomes more like the dungeon stage on Adventure Mode in SSBM. And boss battles could be like SCII.
The other idea, which is my favourite by far, is a real-time 3D remake. There's no EXP Points or stats. The dungeons are your average puzzle-filled Zelda dungeons. Like with my idea of a 3D remake of LoZ, the in-game artwork should be based on the official artwork.
Link should start in Impa's cottage, waking from a strange dream. Link discovers the Triforce mark on his left hand, and then you, as the player, have to talk to Impa.
There's a short cut-scene, and then you follow after Impa to North Castle (which you can fully explore). Once you reach the 'door that cannot be opened', there's another cut-scene where you see the Sleeping Princess, Impa tells you the legend of the Sleeping Princess (flashback time!), and Link reads the scroll she gives him.
Then you start your journey to bring the six crystals to the palaces, to eventually break the barrier protecting the Great Temple.
there all cool ideas
first off, I would just like to say that windwaker had weather. and my idea...what about doing a crossover king of effect, like with the oracle series?I enjoyed the parallel storylines...It would also be nice if they included like a house for Link.I mean one that you can use besides to keep a cow that defied the laws of physics to get up there. I think it's about time they came up with new ideas for shields as well.
I would actually like to go through Links various stages to adulthood. And I also like your idea, Jackal.
yey it would be better if you can see link growing up becuse days and days pass by and link does'nt get a day older whitch bugs me
Yeah, when you're on an adventure for, say, 2 months, maybe 3, you should really age a lot. ::)
I think they should have a bladder bar underneath the magic bar. You go for over a year playing sometimes, and he never once goes to the bathroom...never eats either. Not saying it should be necessary, just a little fun feature they could add, and you get benefits if he is in good condition, snd his abilities grow as he gets older. Just make it a bit more realistic. He could also act different with a full bladder, like he start dancing or shaking his legs when he stands still, or his stomach growls when he gets hungry.
yey your right i would like link to be like a real person bye goping to bed and having a drink and feeding his horse because he has never fed epona
I would like to see Link use a scythe instead of a sword. And at some point in the game, you could attach an element to it, like fire or ice. At another point in the game, you can increase the power of this elemental damage. You can also add a bane or two. For example, I would add a bane to undead creatures, and that bane would let me to extra damage to anything that's undead. And you would have to pay a lot of rupees to get all of this applied to your scythe for two reasons. One, it would take a master smith to apply the elemental and/or bane. Two, it's really easy to get a lot of rupees in the game, and most everything in the game is cheap, and spending some rupees on something expensive but worth it would be nice. However, the addition of an elemental power and a bane is optional, but it would be freaking sweat to have, and could make the game a little bit easier.
thats a good idea ;D
Hmm, I don't know about the weapon switch (allthough it might be interesting), but the bane/elemental idea might be good.
What I mean is, I do not wish to see another freaking game that uses fire/red/power beats plants/green/insanity beats water/blue/wisdom beats fire/red/power. I've seen that enough. The triangle thing and everything surrounding it (pokemon types are a nice example) are done and frankly, I think it's quite childish it still gets used so often. I won't like it if TLOZ would suddenly use that. However, a balanced system of attaching could work.
They could use the Sage Medaillons for it. Though they were probably never meant to have any real power (you could equip them in the Beta version though), I always thought it was odd they really didn't do anything. But with such a system, the sentence " adds his power to yours" isn't pointless anymore. But it should be well-balanced, no element should be stronger than another.
On the weapon switch, think about it. Swords and bows don't have to be the only weapon Link can use. We know there are spears and scythes in Hyrule; it's just that Link never used them. And why not? What's stopping Link from using them? The scythe doesn't have to be his primary weapon, or the weapon he needs to defeat whoever, but I don't see why he should be limited to just a sword. I'd also like to see a few more spells. There are plenty of magical items, but actual spells would be nice.
i want link to see link going to school becuase when he was a little kid all he did was hand around in the place he lived never went to school did'nt get an education
In OoT. In TMC, it's been stated in the game that Link went to school with Princess Zelda.
In the next new Zelda game, I'd really like to see a return of the Light Arrows. They were cool (but not as cool as the Fire Arrows).
If any arrows should return, it are the Silver Arrows.
How about all the arrows, plus a few more with more elementals attached to them. Or maybe poison arrows. Or some other kind of crazy effect.
Quotei want link to see link going to school becuase when he was a little kid all he did was hand around in the place he lived never went to school did'nt get an education
I know there are schools in the game, but I oppose that idea because it would be way too modern. If Link is a peasant he shouldn't be able to get an education (unless he decides to become a priest).
I want to see a more in-depth presentation of Hylian lore and legends. Even stuff that doesn't have any connection to the main storyline.
EDIT: I also want to see more originality in future Zelda games. Take the elements, for example. In TMC the elements are Earth, Water, Fire and Wind. However, Hyrule is not in our world, so why not add more elements? Like, a lot more. I'll mention the elements in the fantasy world I'm creating, as an example:
QuoteFamily of Téarino
Earth
Wood
Water
Ice
Fire
Poison
Lightning
Wind
Mana
Family of Derthrúaka
Life
Death
Illusion
Spirit
Time
Family of Aégorva
Heat
Cold
Light
Darkness
Shadow
Twilight
Not only are there a lot more, but I've also divided them into families (something I've never seen being used before). That's the level of originality I want to see.
Dude, no metal in your element list? Or Space (if you include Time, you gotta include Space).
Anyway, I'd like to see that as well. Especially because it can easily connect to the Sages. And I just really would like to know what there function is (or that of their Temples). Both seem to be a little pointless actually.
I would actually like to see Ganondorf use that sword that he swings around in SSBM. I have not seen that even in a video of TP.
What I'd like to see is different models for everyone! They did it once in TWW and that's it. All Humans and Hylians get a (more or less) different model so you can see who's who. But all members of any other race get the same model, except for the important ones. Right, that makes sense. Every Zora, Goron, Kokiri, Zuna etc. looks exactly the same, except for their leaders or the occasional other person who has a slightly bigger role. At least get a male and a female model. OOT's Gerudo had a fair amount of different models (still ridiculous compared to Hylians). If I remember correctly, they had 5 models, not counting Ganondorf, Koume, Kotake and Twinrova. Why not do that for all races? Because this is just stupid.

but (SPOILERS) there was that part in Tp, I saw it in IGN, where Link was like falling and there were thousands of pictures of a pupilless Ilia all around. Does this not qualify?
in the next zelda game i would like to see links mum and dad
Well, Link is usually an orphan in all the games...Oot,MM... In ALttP and MC he lived with master smith though.
well you have a piont but we never get to see what his parents look like because we get to see zelda's dad in WW and we only get to see out of links family his sister and master smith (like you said) and his granny in WW .
Apart from that in the next zelda game i would like new weapons different dungeons like some in the sky like the one in Minish Cap and lots of other things as well
I doubt that was her dad. The flood doesn't seem like something that happened recently, so he and Zelda are probably generations apart. It's likely though that the woman on the picture in Tetra's room was her mom. It should also be noted that the artwork of TAOL features Zelda's brother and father.
Link's family members featured untill now are his uncle in ALTTP, his grandmother and sister in TWW and his grandfather in TMC.
Now if I may be a bit clear for this point, some of the elemental variations are a bit... Tedious... Most of the games that incorporate elements, you only really use them a few times, so a complex system would make things too difficult. THe thing about magic systems is that it has to be kept siimple in order to prove ingenious to the puzzles in the games. That's why there's only a handful, you can't really rely 100% on magic, that's why there are a whole bunch of tools you can use, which proves everything quite elegantly...
And the food/bathroom/school ideas are also a downer... This is a fantasy game people, NOT a virtual sim. We use these games to have fun, not to go by with mindless chores. Which would kinda ruin zelda for what zelda signifies...
Now that I'm coming to think of it, a scythe may be a good idea, although having things element aligned would prove a bit unnecessary, considering we already have other things... and if we have all of this stuff, only a handful of stuff would get used, so some of the stuff would prove to be a very sad waste...
The two key things that have defined Zelda are the puzzles and use of ALL of your items to solve them, and the fantasy themes.
Once we stray from those themes, it stops being zelda or fun.

Some of the stuff proves to be a waste even if elemental tactics are left out. In OoT, for instance, you only use the Mirror Shield's reflecting properties in the Spirit Temple (and maybe the Spirit Barrier), but nowhere else. I'm not so sure that Deku Nuts come into a lot of handy either, except for a fair few instances.
If the elemental systems make the game too difficult, I don't really care. Personally, I would love a little battle challenges to Zelda, since after playing the games over and over again, you would think that enemies were becoming too easy.
Well, like I already said, the elemental idea can be good if done properly. Complex doesn't mean unusable. Anyway, the only reason it sounds interesting to me is because it might give the Sages some purpose. After 5 TLOZs featuring Sages, I still have no clue what their purpose is and what decides who gets to be the next Sage. Apart from opening portals (with the help of certain objects!), I haven't seen the six-and-one Sages ever do anything. And if the other 2(?) are necessary for the Master Sword to keep its power, then wouldn't leaving their Temples be a very bad idea if it's the Master Sword's power that keeps Ganondorf at the bottom of the ocean?
i would like to be more of a human
Perhaps the ONLY game that I've seen that works with elemental properties with magic and a variety of weapons done properly is Secret of Mana. I mean we have like 6 or was it 8? elemental spirits, it's amazing, but it takes a true level of ingenuity in order to come up with this and REALLY make use of it. Secret of Mana was an adventure RPG in the style of zelda. Truly unique and fun to play with. But note, this would be fairly tricky...
And to the comment about deku nuts... you have no idea how I've seen deku nuts been used, to stun bosses that I wouldn't have thought would be stunned by it, making things go faster, they are useful, granted if you experiment using them.

Oh, boo hoo if the game is a tad bit difficult. If you can't take the challenge, then don't play the game.

I highly doubt magic is simple. Why do you think Intelligence is often applied to magical strength while Power is attached to physical strength?

Who said it had to be a virtual sim? Even though it is fantasy, some aspects of reality would be nice. We wouldn't necessarily have to eat food, go to the bathroom, or watch Link go to school, but it would be nice to see such things as restaurants, bathrooms, and schools to make Hyrule seem more like a real place.

In A Link to the Past, I don't use the Cane of Bryna, so it's really a waste for me to go get it. But it may not be a waste for other people to get because they use it often. Actually, the Cane of Bryna isn't even needed to beat ALttP, as well as other items (such as the boomerang), making them unnecessary. So we shouldn't have them in there? Even though I love using the boomerang, especially in tall grass?
Also, some people might have a preference. Some people like using Fire Arrows. Some people like using the Fire Rod. Why not put both of them in the game and satisfy both groups? I prefer magic over melee weapons, but other people prefer melee weapons over magic. Why not satisfy us both by having a lot of magic and melee weapons to choose from? Sure, it might make the game a bit complex, but again, if you can't handle it, don't play it; no one's forcing you to.

And if they didn't/aren't, wasn't it said that the next Zelda game for the Wii would redefine Zelda as we know it now? Futhermore, hadn't Zelda's theme in the past been somewhat light-hearted? And isn't TP the darkest Zelda game to be released so far? So is TP not a Zelda game?
Dang, you need to write articles. This isn't a joke or a snipe, I'm serious....what you say is true as well. Zelda is constantly changing, but when it changes, it delivers. Like with WW, just because they make it cel-shaded, everyone said it just wasn't a Zelda game and they wouldn't play it. I happened to enjoy it very much, I feel it was one of their best works.

1. He wasn't alking about those places being in the game (in which case he would be too late anyway). He was talking about Link using them. There's a funny reference in TP that that probably will never happen anyway.
2. True, but eventually we all get pulled to TLOZ. It doesn't matter which aspects of it manage to do that to each individual. There's something about the entire thing, something we all aknowledge exists, that is TLOZ.
3. Okay, since pretty much every item Link ever had could be used as a weapon in some way. I think a scythe is a good idea. I mean, I LOVE the ball and chain from TP and I often use bombs to get rid of my enemies. Would be funny if the AI gets changed in such a way that enemies back off if you're holding a bomb above your head. Allows you some room to escape if you need to. And it would be great if you could use the rods/canes/wands for melee combat too. You know, nice secundary function, especially if you've run out of magic. I say: more weapons/magic for everyone. And if that's too much, I just want to see magic return to the 3d games.
4. You played TP yet? LA and MM are darker, MUCH darker. TP reminds me of ALTTP. Wacky items everywhere and a story similar to ALTTP's. And no, OOT did not redefine TLOZ. At least, not the way he meant. You're talking about controls and gameplay. He's talking about the essence of the game qua genre. The basic idea of TLOZ as an action adventure has never been changed, except for some funny minigames. Read what he said again, and ask yourself: Have those elements (puzzles, fantasy theme, items) ever changed? How would you feel about it if they changed and TLOZ becomes a Starfox clone or something?

Well, I always happen to have all my bottles filled with milk and have him continously drink it every half hour, so he gets strong bones.so he sorta eats...
What I mean by 'complex' magic systems is that for the developer they have to come up with many ways to use the magic effectively, and this is no less true of zelda's extensive creativity with magic and puzzles. If we have all of these systems, it'd be difficult to fully develop them completely and to the level of quality we've seen in previous zelda games. And having oodles of magic just seems a bit... tedious, like having all these pieces of heart or all of these masks... while it is a very fun thing to mess around with, we should let the developers go with their decisions to have a true understanding of how the game is made. It's not that the magic system would be too complex for any gamer to grasp, just the contrary, any gamer can go with any system, but in some games, the magic system is more of a hindrance than a help. Anyone here ever played Final Fantasy VIII? While the game itself did sell a lot, there were MANY MANY complaints that the magic system was too messed up, too easy to take advantage of, and above all, too time consuming. You'll understand what I mean if you've actually played the game and understand the complaints.
I think it would be a bad idea if the zelda games evolved to the point where the game revolves more around magic systems than around fantasy and storytelling.
My point is that in many RPG's I've played, you have literally over a hundred different spells, but a lot of the time, you only really use a small margin of the spells. So in my opinion, it's sad to see that some spells like curse, blind, or poison are scantily used effectively. It's really falling on the developers use of these spells, sometimes outside of the norm that can make some systems truly fun instead of tedious 'collect-em-all' craze.
The thing about magic is that magic cannot act as a deus ex machina plot device, that it wouldn't really present anything. An example: Naruto's overuse of 'powers' of characters to subsequently dodge or use some element in the fight that makes it too ahh, cheaty... what I'm trying to say is, that it defeats the drama, it gets to the point where building up these chains of traps and counter traps just gets silly and the only reason they end up getting used is as a point that allows person a to survive person B without even really trying or without any real view of personality development. I find that effect VERY cheap.
Mind, I am not bashing Naruto, or Yu-gi-oh's insane use of just making up new cards to meet the situation. I am just sick of the fact that the drama is used so cheaply, and it cheats the audience out of a true perception of the conflict.
hmm, I played Final Fantasy VII, and I love it. Yes, perfecting the magic is time-consuming, but it's kind of a side quest. You don't need it to beat the game, but it helps, and you get a sense of completion to get the master spells, just like with pieces of heart in Zelda. What if there were a few spells, such as the three in OoT, I thought they were great.
A system with only a handful of spells is much better and easier to manage than an all out RPG system that focuses 100% on combat.
I mean, we should have spells that are actually useful for doing some things within the game. If you've played zelda II, you know exactly what I mean, at least, somewhat. Mind, the way I see it is that spells should serve a functional purpose, instead of being completely elemental based.
I would like harder bosses, including mini bosses, like in kingdom hearts, those guys are hard, and I would like a life bar for your enemy's, to tell you how much more you have to go till he is dead. Those would be helpful. :D
Like the Hero's Charm from TWW?

Although, I think Nintendo said something along the lines of they're not going to show Link's love life because they would like that to be up to the fans. Someone will probably correct me on that. Someone like LadyNintendo or Evilslayer.

Has it been said? :D
Firstly the difficulty needs to be about that of OoT (I was dissapointed by the easy enemies in TP)
Secondly the puzzles needs to be varied and quite hard towards the end (again TP's puzzles aren't that hard)
Thirdly, the races needed to be greatly varied (more models for the people not essential to the game storyline)
The storyline needs to be more like a legend (another thing TP was missing - it seemed the story line didn't really involve hyrule's great history - a huge dissapointment, meaning the game was really shallow and the drama seemed quite fake)
More weapons.
(soz if this seems to focus on TP too much)

I didn't want to go through all the old posts, either. Some forums are really strict about it, though.

I love you! ^^ Well, I don't have to say what I think about the number of models used for not-Hylians/Humans. I said that already. And I guess it's because of the lack of history stuff that Nintendo seems to get away with the "new" Sages, Oocca created Hylians story, etc. without really explaining it.
About the races-- I thought the Zora in TP were really awesome looking, but agreed on diversity. They all looked the same, as usual. I wish they would at least put some gender difference, maybe.
The standard model usually is good, but one look at the IndiGo-Go's and you know how different they can be. Even Oracle of Ages had at least one example of a different Zora look. I want at least a male and female model and preferably, have some more individuals among the not-Hylian/Human races that aren't leaders or sages.
QuoteFirstly the difficulty needs to be about that of OoT (I was dissapointed by the easy enemies in TP)
No offense, but OoT's difficulty was pathetic. :-* And I don't really see how TP is easier than OoT. It needs to be AT LEAST as difficult as ALttP, with a Second Quest about the level of LoZ in difficulty.
Oh, and the Second Quest should have a mirrored Hyrule (only Hyrule, not the characters and enemies) and completely different dungeons, so that the replay value increases vastly.
LttP's difficulty level was pretty nice...enough of a challenge but not frustrating. I agree, I'd like to see that quality of play again.
Evilslayer, you thought OoT was easier than TP? :-\ Huh... They always just seemed to get progressively easier and easier to me...
probably because you get better as you get older, and you are starting to learn from previous games.
If you want a REALLY hard Zelda, check out the hack for LttP called "Parallel Worlds" It's reallY REALLY hard. And everything, the graphics, the overworld, and the dungoens have been COMPLETELY changed.
QuoteEvilslayer, you thought OoT was easier than TP?
I realize that some people found OoT hard when they first played it because they were very young. I, however, was 15 so I don't remember it as a particulary difficult game back then.
But let's compare 2D to 3D. As I grew up in the 2D era I have many fond memories of games for the NES and SNES, and those games wre HARD. Even today I die a lot in SMB 3.
But games like OoT are different. They may be hard for an 8-year-old, but as people grow both in age and in skill the difficulty dicreases. The only really hard 3D Nintendo first-party game is Donkey Kong 64. But that's mostly because of some of the bosses (especially the third boss).
I started playing the old 2Ders, too, and I still have trouble with the old LoZ. Actually, I think I was better at it when I was younger, just because I had the time to sit and play it forever. Whenever I pick it back up again on a ROM, I completely suck for the first whole hour or so. Like, walking in to enemies, that kind of suck.
While OoT was indeed easy, I noticed that in Majora's Mask, there were a lot of hints/gameplay tips in the game, and it seemed to be dulled down as they went. Although nothing was easier than Wind Waker, yikes...
It also seemed they were trying to bring more people into the fanbase, instead of designing the game to be friendliest to those familiar with the series/playing style. Which, of course, there is nothing wrong with.
Okay, sorry for being off-topic. :P
I thought of this yesterday-- I want to see more interaction with the races. I want to see more to do with their customs and cultures; I want to see what they do when they aren't standing in one spot or swimming around in a circle. And I'd like to be able to participate in it in-game, to a reasonable degree. It might make the game massive, but, hey. We have the technology. And it would make for some pretty awesome sidequests. TP failed at sidequests.
