Title: The enemies/races you missed
Post by: LadyNintendo on January 04, 2007, 02:40:22 AM
When we were waiting for TP, we all had expectations and hopes for what races and enemies it would feature. So, what race/enemy wasn't included that you would've loved to have seen in the game?
Mine are:
Green Chu Jelly - Aw, come on! Just because this Link doesn't have magic, doesn't mean there's no room for green Chu Jellies! The world isn't about Link and TWW also featured two colours Chu Jelly Link couldn't use (that one was a lot smarter than TP's Link when it comes to Black/Purple Chu Jelly). It could even have been a nice joke if you could find Green Chu Jelly in the areas after the fourth dungeon, when you should realize there won't be any magic in the game. Like when you scoop some green jelly, it should say something like: "You got Green Jelly/Potion! It replenishes magic!.....What do you need that for?" Nintendo already made a joke about Link never getting items that don't aid him on his quest in some way, so it's not strange or something.

Boko Babas and those water Babas- Yeah, the Hebi Babas are cool and I'm happy to see the Deku Babas again, but I just have a thing for the Boko Babas. And with such a big Lake Hylia, I'd loved to see those water Babas return (anyone know their name?). Fine, but next game, I want to see a carnivorous garden dungeon featuring at least all Baba Plants from earlier games.

Miniblins and Moblins - Honestly, I'm not really bothered they aren't in the game. However, I was pleasantly surprised to hear a sound so similar to that of Miniblins (I love their sound) coming from the Oocca. Made me want to see them again. And having Moblins in the game would've at least made clear the new Bulblins are not Moblins, as some people still tend to think (way to go Nintendo, for not including their names in either the manual or game).

Random (half-)enemy race* - River Zora, Goriya, Lynel, Daira, Ghini. Call me crazy, but I had honestly hoped to see one of these return in full 3-D for once. I think it's a shame Nintendo still only roughly knows how most of them look. That goes for most of their long forgotten or 2-D only enemies. Everybody was cheering when the Darknuts returned, why not do it again?

MINIBLINS! you want miniblins to return! I tell you I hated the miniblin, their annoying sounds, the return-to-spawn-point-when-killed programming. I'm telling you, the moment I heard the miniblin sound from the Oocca I just lost it, like, well, lost it, like when Raymond from the movie "Rainman" lost it when he saw his bro near hot water. I really was like: "Miniblin swarm and kill Link. Miniblin swarm and kill Link. Miniblin swarm and kill Link. Miniblin swarm and kill Link."
I'm glad it was just the Oocca.

They were cute! And their sound was only second to that of the Koroks! I hope they'll return some day, unchanged.

I was kind of sad that I haven't seen the peahats...yes, they were tough when you first start out, but it's fun running away with a swarm chasing you...unless we will see them later, I'm only at Snowpeak

There are peahats in the game.

Hmm... what race do I miss... SHEIKIAH(SP?)!!!! Well there was one girl called Impaz... but I don't think she was a Sheikiah...

I think the water babas are bio-deku babas.

Deku Scrubs: Well... Not a complet Zelda game, without the Deku Scrubs! When they are gotten hit they just go like: "Ahhhh! I have been hit!!!" and runs around like a crazy guy (*CoughZantCough*)! Always funny!  :)

1. Isn't a Boko Baba a Deku Baba and vice versa?  I think so.  No, I know so.  They look exactly the same.

2. I would have liked to see Green Chu-Chus too.

3. I thought the enemys that followed King Bulbin(?) were minimoblins like in WW the mini version of bokoblins were miniblins.  I think the first enemy you face is a bokoblin.  They look too much like their WW counterpart.

4. I swore I saw a River Zora in the Goron Dungeon.  In the lava and in water.  I think the Goriyas, Lynel, and Dairas were just certain people that gain some of Ganon/Ganondorfs power and fused with animals or monsters.  Much like King Bulbin in TP.  He was a human/hylian that followed Ganon, so he was granted some power.  Thats why I think we will see no more of the King or of Goriyas, Lynel, or Dairas.  Ghinis are Poes.  Unless Ghinis are modeled after some Mario character which I seem to recall are.

Miniblins were those things at the beggining of the game in the Faronic Province or whatever it's called.

^ The golden does, that if you drink it, it will replenish all your hearts and make you glow with POWER!!! But only in a little time...

It can be found on a few other locations as well. the best chance for getting one is in the snow area. One of the holes under the trees near which you can catch a poe. It works as Fairy Tears.

Knil> 1. No, Boko Babas and Deku Babas are different. Their colours are different, their shape's different, their spoils are different (are have to be used differently). They are both Babas, but that's where the similarity ends.

3. No, for what I've read on the official site, Bulblins are a new race of the "Goblin" type. TP featured Bulblins (the green things usually found on boars) and Bokoblins (the purple things with sticks). Also, "blins" are part of the "Goblin species", and not a "smaller or bigger version of".

4. Okay, who told you that or is it just your theory? For as far as I know, King Bulblin has always been a Bulblin. It's his race. Same for the others. Ghinis are not Poes, though they both are ghosts. Anyway, I've heard a lot of theories about what those things in the Goron Mines were. I believe the official name right now is Toadpolis. Not river Zora.

I don't know what I was saying in that last part.  That sounds completely idiotic what I said in 3. 4.  I still think bokoblins were the first enemy you faced.  Ghinis and Poes are different, but i still think Ghinis were modeled after some other Nintendo character.  I would have like to see River Zora.  They are just Zora that got mad at humans/hylians then spat rocks at them right?  Do the people of Hyrule refer to them as humans or hylians?  It would have been cool to see Dairas, Goriyas and Lynels.

^ I think those type of Zora's, is named "Zola".
Title: Re:The enemies/races you missed
Post by: LadyNintendo on January 16, 2007, 11:44:54 PM
Considering the L and R are the same letter in Japanese and they are only called Zola in the first game (*cough*Gannon*cough*), I think we can pretty safely assume they are just called Zora as well.

I don't know what makes river Zoras different from sea Zoras. I always guessed they are simply two different races. About as different as a Hylian and a Gerudo.

there are the two zoras, the nice ones and he ones that shoot balls of fire at you. you would have to play the earlier zelda games to see the violent zoras.

River Zoras were featured in: TLOZ, ALTTP, LA (a nice one!), OOA (only game ever that featured both) and FSA.

This is a quote from OOA:
Don't think us noble sea Zoras the same as those savage,
vulgar river Zoras!

Octorocks. They were the only enemy to appear in all of the Zelda games (right?), and Nintendo blew it. I wonder why?

This is not an enemies, but how come no one has said COWS!  There are no cows in the game.  Sure the goats are cool, but cows should be in there two.

1. Deku Scrubs/Dekus in general. Mainly the scrubs were my favourite part.
2. Gerudo. It might have been nice to see them, seeing as there is a Gerudo Desert.
3. Wolfos? There were snow wolfs, but they were just agitating.
4. The bigger moblins that were in WW.

I was impressed with the Darknuts.
Title: Re:The enemies/races you missed
Post by: DW on January 30, 2007, 11:04:25 PM
i think the bigger Moblins were Bokoblins...
Title: Re:The enemies/races you missed
Post by: LadyNintendo on January 31, 2007, 03:12:48 AM
If it doesn't have the same name, it may be related, but it's not the same thing.

Moblins: been there from the start. They were huge in OOT, quite big in TWW (identical to TMC btw) and absent in TP. (all other games, not relevant right now) Ganon's soldiers and piglike in appearance (though doglike at one time). Does not appear in TP.

Bokoblins: Introduced in TWW as a smaller "Goblin" race with pig characteristics as well. It is unknown why they are called bokoblin. Though they bear some resemblence to Moblins, they most definetely are not the same race. In TP, they were redesigned to look more like a human (still less than Bulblins).
Title: Re:The enemies/races you missed
Post by: Paul on January 31, 2007, 12:35:09 PM
they were called bokoblin, because most of them wielded bokobaba sticks.
Title: Re:The enemies/races you missed
Post by: LadyNintendo on February 01, 2007, 02:51:38 AM
And why wouldn't it be the other way around? Boko, unlike Hebi (snake) and Deku (wooden figurine), doesn't mean anything. If it would refer to the Bokoblins, then at least their name would make some sense.
Title: Re:The enemies/races you missed
Post by: Paul on February 01, 2007, 07:20:13 AM
deku doesn't mean anything as far as I know... closest to what you said is dekupa-ju which means cutting up/carving. from that it's possible deku means wooden figurine, but why call a lot of items in OoT that, if there are no figurines there?
Title: Re:The enemies/races you missed
Post by: Commodore Axilon on February 01, 2007, 08:12:04 AM
What on earth are you two talking about? If deku means anything it's certainly not gonna be in Japanese. It'd be in Hylian or something.
Title: Re:The enemies/races you missed
Post by: Paul on February 01, 2007, 10:28:24 AM
Good point ;) then the same is going to count for boko, which still doesn't tell us if it comes from bokoblin or bokobaba....
I am sticking with my theory though since the sticks were also boko sticks (only deku in tWW was Deku Tree and Deku Leaf.)
Title: Re:The enemies/races you missed
Post by: Commodore Axilon on February 01, 2007, 10:34:55 AM
Maybe boko means "vicious" or "monstrous" or something like that. So a Boko Stick would be called that because it comes from a Boko Baba, not because it's inherently vicious or anything. :)

Though your theory could work too.

Octoroks: No real reasons outside of breaking tradition. That's one of my major tiffs about TP - breaking tradition. From the Teen rating to the lack of Octopi, it just didn't feel like Zelda.

Gerudo: I wanted to see them in fancy new graphics! With new, fancy clothing and such... *sigh* If only...
Title: Re:The enemies/races you missed
Post by: LadyNintendo on February 02, 2007, 12:10:58 AM
Yeah, the irony of the Octoroks' figurine in TWW is too much to bear now. Come on!, they KNEW Octoroks were the only enemies that were featured in every game. They at least could've kept that tradition.

Paul and CA> Deku means "wooden figurine". Check some random translation site if you need proof. And the name "deku" applies to pretty much everything ever called Deku-something. I think you should just interpret it as "something made of wood". Everything ever called Deku was made of wood or a plant(part).

I used http://www.freedict.com/onldict/jap.html and it came up blank with deku on exact, and gave dekupa-ju as carving, cutting up when I checked off the exact.

@johnny139,
bet you wanted to see them DoAX2 style, huh :P *kidding*

Um, Deku Toad? The mini-boss of the Lakebed Temple in TP. He most certainly wasn't plant-like.

I'm aware not every online dictionary knows this japanese word. But a lot more than just this site are capable of translating "deku". (btw, it's not figurine, but figure or doll, my mistake).

The Deku Toad indeed is the only exception. I have no clue why it is called Deku. Then again, I don't know anything about it except how to kill it.

Octoroks... they... weren't there. Those retarded toadpolis were there, instead. And... D: -whines-

I missed Deku Scrubs, Gerudo... Moblins, Miniblins. ... And Tingle. I know it's a scary thought for some, but I was dying to see Tingle in Twilight Princess graphics.

I missed Wolfos, too. And Golden Skulltula. And... green chu. But... more than green chu, electrified chu. And... miniblins. And the grotesque, terrifying Floormasters from Ocarina of Time. (I've heard there's some Wallmasters, but from what I've heard, they just aren't the same.)

I understand that, buddy-boy. I said, and I quote, "I still think he looks nothing like Tingle." The only resemblance I see is they both wear green, and my succeeding statement addressed the stupidity of that.

I'm not disagreeing he was based on Tingle, I just think they could've been a bit more obvious about it. Like, oh I don't know, make him look like Tingle!

Arrgh! Stop destroying my argument!

If they wanted to make Tingle appear in TP they should've done it where he looked like, you know, Tingle. It's not like the Tingle in MM wasn't realistic or anything, so I don't see why they wanted to make him "realistic."

And I'm not arguing this anymore. It's horribly off-topic.
