yeah I dont have a wii but my cousin got one...we were wondering how we would get the wi-fi connection thing, if we have to go buy an add on or something.
Well if you have high speed internet and a wireless router then you need nothing. If you have high speend internet, you can get a router for pretty cheap or buy the Wi-Fi USB adaptor for about 30 bucks (can get a wireless router for the same price). If you have dial-up...well your out of luck.
okay, high speed he has. so what is this wireless router? they may have one somewhere...I don't suppose we could use the wireless internet on the laptop I'm using, could we?
Well if your using Internet on a wireless labtop then he must have a router. the router would be somewhere next to the main computer where the Internet is plugged into.
I see...so this little Sandisk cartridge in the side of the laptop would be where the internet is being routed to? SO can we stick that in the wii somewhere?
No the cartridge on the side on your labtop is how your labtop recieves the wireless internet, the Wii already has it built in. Nothing needs to be added as long as there is a wireless router (or a Wi-Fi USB adaptor) all you have to do is turn on the Wii and go to the control panel to test the connection to make sure it works.
how do we test it, the sync button?
No, sync button is just for the Wiimotes. To test your internet connection, from the main screen go to the lower left hand button that says Wii and click it, then click the right button that says "Wii Settings". Then click over to the next page and click "Internet" and then "Connection Settings". Then click on a one of the connections and click "Wireless Connection" (since Wired Connection is not available yet). After that click "Search for and Access Point" (if your using a Wi-Fi USB then click "Nintendo Wi-FI USB Connector). Then it will ask you to choose which access point to use and if you want to save settings.
So...
1. Wii menu click Wii icon at lower left corner
2. Click Wii Settings
3. On 2nd page click Internet
4. Click Connection Settings
5. Click Wireless Connection
6. Click Search for an Access Point
7. Choose Access Point and Save
:-Xoo...k....ill just go to that area and click a bunch.
I edited my post to simplify it more.
yes...simple good... :-\I think I get it now.
Easiest way to check if it worked is to either go in the Internet Channel or on the Shop Channel, if they work then you are connected to the internet on your Wii 24/7...unless you unplug the thing.
yeah, Scott(my cousin) pretty much just wants the shop channel so he can buy the old metroid games and such.
Well he'll have to wait a while as no Metriod game has been released on the VC yet.
ah. what have they released?

Pin? Did he set the Parental Controls?
yes. he said it was his birthday and his cousins birthday, but its not working for any combination...and he cant remember the answer to his question either
I never knew any of this :-[ I thought it woul;d be tougher than that! And here, I was about to buy another controller, so that people other than I may enjoy it. ;D What a joke! Now I just have to find one of those USB adapter things you were talking about, and hook it up! And I do have highspeed. So it should be easy. Also, this is convo posting, now that i have posted, thoust may continue. :)

You can find one of those USB adapters at pretty much any gaming store or website. But you might want to even look at a Wireless Router, I found one on sale and was cheaper then USB. It is a little more setup but I think it might be more reliable then the USB adapter but I am not sure.

Hmm well you better tell him to call up or e-mail Nintendo then
heh, we tried to call them, but it wasn't their hours...shame on them for not having a guy manning the phone at 1:30 in the morning...
BTW I would also like to know TDCs position on exchanging Wii/DS Friend Codes on here. I know Nintendo's website forbids it (dumb move on their part...but so was the Friend Code system) but thank goodness other sites allow it and I was wondering if TDC allows Friend Codes to be shared?
I think we do, we allow sharing runescape and naruto arena names and such...
Ok Bgrugby. I dont think jack would mind... Still though, I wonder why Nintendo wouldnt allow it... sexual preditors? I dont know. Go ahead and make a topic. If it causes any problems, I take full responcibilty for it.
Ok thanks ZV, and yeah I think Nintendo is scared of sexual preditors and other things yet Sony and XBox have no problems with it and I have never heard of a kid kidnapped playing Halo.
Anyways I created the thread in the Chatroom forum so if you have a Wii or Wi-Fi DS games go there and post.
kk, I will see if my cousin will put his there...
I'm gettin Wii internet soon, but first i need the money for it.
you dont need to buy internet for teh wii if you already have high speed or wireless in your house.

You should post your Wii number in the Wii Number/DS FC thread and exchange some Miis.
What is Miis?
A Mii is a personalized character that you can create! If you use Wii Sports, which comes with the System, you'll be able to use the Mii's you've created! And if you have the internet thing, you can play against other people! Tennis, and boxing are my favorites! And what does Desert Colossus look like from a TV screen?
oh, thanks zv, I bet it looks like a bigger version then a computer screen would.
Well, what i meant by that, is that when i was using AOL the whole layout was different from when I use Internet Explorer, or Mozilla Firefox. I windered if the layout was altered, maybe i should have been more clear. :)
Oh, when I used firefox, which sucked, the layout looked pretty much the same as it does on internet explorer.
I think you can probably get put on a waiting list...via Amazon or something.

No, I need money for the wireless router. Then i can get the Internet capabilites up in my room. The computer is in the basement, while my room is upstairs. So i need some extra stuff.
Oh, maybe i should have mentioned that too. My computer isnt in my room. My room in across the hall. ??? Does that mean extra expences?

No a wireless router (or even Nintendo's Wi-Fi USB adapter) will allow internet connection to any computer, Wii, or DS in any room in your house.
hee hee, I love makin :'(g miis, I got on my cousins and made Team 7...except for Kakashi because you can't have gray hair
