I noticed a fstrange thing, one of the sages has the icon of the bombos medal on his clothes...

That's actually the symbol for the Forest Sage.

yeah, they are the sages for every temple in OoT, except one was killed I think.

I thought it was water, too; but I think I later figured that it was another sage. If I play through it one more time, I might find out.
