Ever notice how a lot of stuff that happens in Zelda has happened in a Disney movie? Like in OoT, when Link pulls out the Master Sword is like the Sword in the Stone; Link looks kinda like Peter Pan, and Navi/Tatl looks like Tinkerbell; and when Vaati steals Ezlo's magic cap is like the Sorcerer's Apprentice when Mickey Mouse puts on the sorcerer's hat without permission.
I don't think it's so much a Disney thing as much as it is a fairy tale/fantasy thing. Both the Legend of Zelda and some of the best Disney movies have common fairy tale/fantasy themes- a mystic sword, fairies, and mystical helms (in Greek myth, Hades possesses a helm that allows you to turn invisible). I think it's a common source material.
Although I must say, when I went as Link for Halloween, I got mistaken for Peter Pan most of the evening. Should've drawn a Triforce on my hand.
I did that also, this year, last year, and the year before. People thought I was Peter Pan, or Robin Hood, or a pirate. Only one person knew I was supposed to be Link.
I agree with Eralk Fang.
Both are simply based on the same material. The Master Sword is a lot like Excalibur. And it really wasn't Disney who came up with that story.
Link's outfit is really standard. If you'd have to come up with a farmer/peasant outfit for a fantasy-medieval boy, how different will it be from Link's or Peter Pan's outfit?
Same for the others.
There's also that thing about the Sorcerer's Apprentice.
Don't ask me to count the number of times a fantasy story starts with a magician's apprentice stealing/"borrowing"/touching something that belongs to his/her master that he/she isn't supposed to. ;)
Of the three examples you pointed out, that reduces it down to one example, and I don't think that would be enough to say that Nintendo is copying from Disney.
I would also like to point out that Peter Pan is not Disney's creation either. Peter Pan was originally written by J.M. Barrie.
I don't think he was accusing them of copying anything, merely observing the similarties. ;D Which we have seen are simply due to using similar source material.
This is almost as bad as comparing Twilight Princess to Star Wars.
Everybody's go-to space opera and Twilight Princess? How you do even begin to compare the two (excluding the Hero's Journey, of course)?
Vaati has a point. they do have things in common, just like Star Wars. It all depends on what you are like and how you look at things. I could probably find something in Zelda similar to a Barney episode if I wanted. Vaati isn't saying it IS disney, she is just noticing similarities. Unlike the people who accused Zelda of copying Legend...

That's exactly what I was trying to point out. And, I'm a "she", not a "he".
yes, I know you are a girl, I just make typos...a lot. and I also don't always remember who I'm talking about either. I have short-term memory for names in a way.
Your saying Legend of Zelda can compare with Disney just because of a few similatities? :P This is just insulting. Thats like saying Kenny G can compare with Metalica just becuase they're both musicians.
I'm not saying that Zelda is like disney because they're both fantasies. I'm just saying that it's so coinsidential that they just so happen to have the same little mini plots. ::)
just how Alpha saw similarities in Zant and Darth Vader, so can we move along and stop getting after Vaati?
HEY! That was Jario, not me. ;D
You can find similarities anywhere if you look hard enough. Heck, I'll bet we could find some way to explain how the Zelda games are modeled after Monty Python skits if we tried.
Oh. Whatever, you're the only one who still writes the TIPs, which I do like to read, but you're ahead of me now so I can't cuz I don't want to have the fun spoiled :'(
and I bet we could relate it to the Holy Grail...
