Option 7: Ezlo

Option 8: Midna

Come on, choose.
I'm going with the King on this one. With Midna a close second, and Tatl rounding out third. And Kaepora Gaebora wasn't really a sidekick, neither was Epona.
I'd only qualify Midna, Ezlo, Tatl, Navi and KoRL as sidekicks.
And I like Tatl the most.
I'm going with Midna, because she is one of my favorite Zelda characters, but Ezlo's a close second.
I admit, Kaepora Gaebora and the OoS/A options were just fill-ins, not really sidekicks, but if you say the King of Red Lions is a sidekick, then you have to say Epona is a sidekick.
Not really. Epons is more of an item. you use her, but she never mentors you whatsoever. The King gives you advice and yells at you. Sidekick.
I really like Ezlo, not sure why, just probably cause of he was the funniest of the sidekicks.

OK, I give you that, but you can also use the KoRL as an item. Don't get me wrong, I like the KoRL.
For me, it's Midna, then Tatl.
I'd have to say Midna and Tatl are tied for my favorites.

Ezlo is an item as well.
The difference between Epona and the KoRL is that the KoRL guides you through the entire adventure, telling you where to go next. Also, Link can talk with him whenever he wants.
You could say he's a mix between a sidekick and some form of transportation (which isn't limited to Epona), but most sidekicks have non-sidekick functions as well that in other games were something seperate. Like the Gnat Hat to become small in FS and the Deku Leaf in TWW (Ezlo in TMC), Navi and Tatl had all the info one in TWW and TMC only gets by collecting figurines. And Midna had a Hookshot-like function. Just because Epona is alive and has a function similar to a sidekick, doesn't mean she is a sidekick.

You can talk to Epona whenever you want to in TP.

Now you're just being ridiculous.
All she says is you have to turn back into a Hylian. That's not really helpful (guides have helpful info) at all.
Time for Mr. Webster to speak up.
*clears throat*
A sidekick is a person closely associated with another as subordinate or partner.
Epona could very well be considered Link's partner; therefore, it's possible to consider Epona as Link's sidekick. Giving Link advice isn't really a criterion for being Link's sidekick. After all, anyone can give Link advice, but not be closely associated with him as a partner.

You have to be a wolf.
I pick Midna, she has grown on me since I got TP. And shes not annoying, like Navi, or a little mean, like Tatl.

Touché. I hadn't thought of that.

Not mean and annoying? Midna? From Twilight Princess? From The Legend of Zelda? We are thinking of the same person right? The one who even admitted she was using Link? The one who never bothers to make a gentle landing and belittles Link on multiple occasions?
HnS: I don't think a horse qualifies as a person. Now, TP shows there's animals have a consciouness (ugh) so Epona might be considered a person in that sense. However, giving Link advice (advice, info etc) and staying with him almost the entire adventure is a decent way of describing Link's sidekicks. You can't call people who give him some advice at some parts in the game sidekicks and you can't call a a horse, nothing more than a way or transportation, a sidekick either. You can't call the Batmobile Batman's sidekick, can you?
If the Batmobile was sapient, yes. Yes I would.
LadyNintendo, some people do get attached enough to their pets to consider them people. I also said that it's possible to consider Epona as a sidekick. I was in no way making a definite ruling that Epona was a sidekick. I was just pointing out that people could call Epona a sidekick if they wanted to.

I agree with you and at the same time disagree with you. Epona is essential in only a two parts in two games, but so are items in every game. Granted you could finally speak to Epona in TP but the advice she gives you is...well not advice. Epona is your transportation to make things quicker, a sidekick bails you out of tough situations, or tells you were to go next, or informs you of a weak spot in a enemy. Epona does not do any of that.
She could be considered a sidekick because it is Link's horse but that is all she is...Link's horse. Its like LadyNintendo said, Epona basically does the same thing the Batmobile does, but do you consider it a sidekick...no! Robin is the sidekick (and probably more but lets not get into that). Epona is a horse and that is all.
Ok, I might be a little biased towards Epona, since I love animals, but you can do all those things with her. I admit her advice isn't the best, but she still stands by Link through tough times.

:POkay Professor, didn't need to hear that....
anyways, Epons isn't even always Link's horse. In MC she was Malon's the whole game.

Well yeah, but towards the end of the game she becomes much more friendly and helpful...trust me, she does change.
*sigh* Will you all just let me be weird and say Epona is a sidekick if I want to? I'm going with Webster's definition of a sidekick since it's the most general definition, what with not giving a job description and all. All that I'm saying is that it's possible to consider Epona, and even Link's weapons, as sidekicks. I'm not saying you have to think like that also. If you want to exclude Epona from the list of sidekicks, fine. Then don't vote for her. Just let other people vote for her if they want to and don't comment on it like "Epona is not a sidekick" is a definite thing, because it's not.

So does Tatl, and a lot quicker than Midna. Not to mention she was never mean in a big way, like Midna.

You're not really defending the Epona-is (could be considered)-a-sidekick case this way. ;) Anyway, this wasn't about Epona in the first place. It was about the definition of a sidekick. And with you saying even weapons count as sidekicks, voting is getting a little hard.

Hehe sorry my friend, but couldn't help myself when Batman and Robin are mentioned ;D
In MC the horse is probably not Epona, but just a horse that looks like her. Someone earlier in this topic started to talk about how certain sidekicks have special abilities, that's why HnS said sidekicks could be considered sidekicks.

Sidekicks being sidekicks...sounds logical. :)
Anyway, the horse IS Epona. How about trying to fuse Kinstones with her? You'll see.

Aye, I understand, just like I can't resist a good crack at Michael Jackson...I made some good ones today talking to my Uncle. Wanna hear?
anyways, yes the horse is Epona, just another case of recycling.
In another topic, this topic is for sidekicks. Or you can PM the people that wanna hear the joke...
Midna and Kaepora Gaebora were tied... but Kaepora isn't really a sidekick. xD;
1. Midna + Kaepora
2. Tatl
3. Ezlo
I like sidekicks who yell at me and use me as a pawn. 8D
