Pfft you crazy 90's kids, we 80's kids were the best we had Alf...you hear me ALF!!!

Excellent, a well thought out, informed observation...next anyone?
I don't remember much of the 90's. I actually don't remember much of 2000 either. Or 2001. Or 2002. All the way up to 2007. I'm already forgetting 2008.

I was born in 1993, but I remember my dad would play 90s music in his car, like Live...etc.

Dude, I remember when cards were band at schools in ym county. But my first card was an Articuno suprisingly. I won it at somthing. But yea the first card I traded for was a Ferow. Still have it. And battling was the best. When I was in third grade, I went to a small private school, so the entire third grade was in one class; there was about 18 of us total. During our break and lunch, the girls (minus me) were playing checkers and board games. The guys and I would battle Poke'mon cards. Amazing times. ;D
That list matched me alot....i was born in 92. Yep, I'm a 90s kid.
Perhaps my favorite thing on the list was the Goosebumps books. I used to love reading those...I read like every one in the series! :)
Oh, and Pokemon cards....those were the days, my friends.
I still do most of those things.
Ha i remember in 2nd grade having a Pikachu plastic lunchbox. :P
OMg I love the 90's.
Back when cartoon weren'tgarbage....
I LOVE POKEMON. ESPECIALLY PIKACHU.
he's so adorable. Hes the most adorable thing i ever saw , other than yoshi from "the mario games" (yoshi deserves to be nintendo's mascot not mario)
Not many people know this but there was once a racist pokemon named jynx....
I Still have a trading card of her before her skin color was changed....
Quote90's suck end of story
The 90's don't suck. 2001+ suck
In short : 90's > 2000's Anyday
*sighs*
Jynx was not racist.
ZOMG did u also no ther was a swasteka on 1 2!!!11!!1one!1!
I TOTALLY WISH I STILL HAD MY TOMAGATCHIS!
I LOVED THEM. I had like 10. My favorite was the Little Mermaid one.
I also had one of those Pikachu things, they were yellowish-goldish and could clip on your belt. I forgot there name....
I watched the episode that gave kids seizures in Japan.
did you get seizures
haha Didn't they fix the problem that gave the kids seizures before it went to america?
I think they did, or the U.S wouldnt have allowed it to air here.
By the way, I must add: THE 90s DID NOT SUCK! BEST 10 YEARS EVER, MY FRIEND!!! ;D
I miss The Adventures of Pete & Pete. And Rocko's Modern Life, which I caught glimpse of on TV not too long ago! Oh oh, and those awesome series of Batman cartoons, before Batman cartoon series started to suck.
I identify with all of those "You Know You're An 80s Kid When" lists, too, even though I was born in '87. Either my elephant-memory or my older sister is to blame for that.
...Did anybody have high-tops? Or those pump-up shoes, with the little button to press? Hee.
Ah the 90's. good times there! ;D
there was an episode of pokemon that gave kids seizures?
heh,heh...i have the Pokemon episodes from japan that 'supposedly gave seizures'...
straight from some friends from japan...(they didn't give me anything but an odd smile)
Yea it was i think one of the first few episodes of Pokemon.
And I have high-tops now, but I remember always wanting those Sketcher shoes with the 4 wheels. Thought those were the greatest.
OMG! I just watched the pokemon episode on youtube! It's a goodthing I wasnt overconfident and watched it, because my head started to hurt really bad, i started sweating, and I fell on the floor. I was afraid to look again, so i had to wait until it was over to click the red X. I waited 5 friggin minutes in fear that i would turn the corner and hurt again.
what's so bad about the episode? How did it give them seizures?
I dont even know what it was about, I only watched for like a 4 seconds. Guys, im really serious, dont force yourself to watch it if you decide to look it up. Ugghh my head still hurts :-* :-*
That episode was never released in america. It's under the ban list, yes, there are episodes of pokemon that are 'banned'. It's called "electric soldier Porygon". I watched it too, and I felt a bit dizzy, but nothing too bad. I've watched several videos with those intense flashing lights, though it generates only a mild effect with me. By the looks of it, did you really fall ZV? Fell, because you lost control? It looks like he has partial epilepsy, I recommend that he see a neurologist and get a few tests (EEG) to see if he actually has a seizure disorder.
Was Ninja Turtles on the list? That was the best show ever! The figures were really fun to play with, an I used to play with them all the time. Too bad the Ninja Turtles is retarded now like everything else.
Anyone else here ever like the Ninja Turtles? They were pretty 90s. ;D
They were actually more of an '80's Icon. But I remember all the movies, they were quite fun to watch... I remember watching the cartoon when I was quite little... heheh... my favorite was michelangelo.
They say you can only remember the 90's as a whole, if you were born in the mid to late 80's. I was born in '88...
Quote from: Shikamaru Nara on February 03, 2007, 03:44:43 PM

From what I read, specific light/color patterns in the episode input messages in the brain that cause those seizures.
Anyway, the 90s were such good years for me. Oh, I miss them... :'(
I even remember my first Pokemon card: (Hint: Look at my username). If only I had a time machine...or somehow could mess with the space-time continuum so I could go back to the 90s...
This one os for the chicks; Do you remember American Girl Dolls? Those really nice dolls that had a whole story behind them in history? Like I had Molly, and she apparently lived in the 1940's during WW2. They were pretty sweet back in the 90's, and are still going today.
And MagmarFire was right about the light-pattern thing. I read it in a past newspaper article from google. ;D

Pokemon card....oh the days i used to spend with my friends with those card...with Pokemon! Pokemon was a smash, and me and my buds used to love it so much....expecially the cards and the red and blue versions. ;D
Ha! I remember the American Girls. I never had any of the dolls, but I had a bunch of the books. I had um...the little colonial girl, the Swedish girl in the 1800's, the black girl who escaped slavery, a couple of the Victorian girl, a few of the Mexican girl a little later but I was too old, erm...I can't really remember, actually. But I loved the historical fiction stuff.

The colonial girl was Felicity
Sweedish was Kirsten
The Escaped slavery girl was Addy
The Victorian was Samantha
and the Mexican girl was Josephine (spelling?)
others includes the Native American one (can't remember name), Kit (the great depression), and Molly the one i had from WW2.

I'm too lazy to describe the bags' sizes, though. :P
Just so you all know, i really don't consider the gold ans silver originals. Half of them were spin-offs from the original 150.
The original 150, like Charmander, Pikachu, and Bulbasuar, were the best. They always wil be. :)

No; i know they arn't. I was a little upset about them too, but that was about the time I pulled away. I like the gold/silver pokemon. the ruby/saphire pokemon all together looked like desperation; look at their looks and names.
and i realize that the gold/silver pkmn were mostly spin-offs. but some were not. ;D
Am I the only person who liked Ruby/Sapphire? :(
I know this is getting off-topic, but what exactly constitutes a spin-off in your mind?

R/S rocked. Everything needs to grow, and though some of the Pokemon were stupid a lot of them were good ideas. I mean, Rayquaza rocks.
It's not like Red/Blue didn't have its share of stupid pokémon either. I mean, Snorlax? WTF was that?
And Rayquaza is the shiznit. :)
Nah, you gusy dont know the classics then! Snorlax was the bomb, hew was involved in the story and that AWESOME show. You gotta love the first guys. ;D
I'm not saying i hate Ruby/Saphire; the story line was great, and SOME of the pokemon were OK; like the torchic trio was cool. But the ones like Luvdisc? Zigazagzon? kind-of pathetic if you ask me.

And I'm not saying there weren't pathetic ones. But hey, every generation has it's low points. Ever hear of Sentret? I'd rather a Racoon (which are fairly common pests, like rats) than a... squirrel, right? I'm not even sure...
I can name a whole bunch of pokémon I thought were stupid. And yes, some of them are from Red and Blue. It's all down to opinion I guess.
Your right on that one. Just an opinion thing. But I do have to say, nothing beats the classic Pok'emon. It just seems to me that by ruby/saphire time, the pokemon and the names started getting desprate; but Rayquaza is teh bomb. Hopefully Diamond/Pearl will be better.
Have a look for yourself. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Fourth-generation_Pok%C3%A9mon)
Dude, I can't pronunce half of those..Cherrim?Cherinbo? What, we have cherry-based pokemon now?
Note that most of them still have their Japanese names.
great, so in american it will be like Pitman and stuff I bet.
Oh man, Pokemon. When I was in the sixth grade I knew them all like the back of my hand, and then the new ones came out and I gave up.
They sure are cute, though. But does anybody in the land o' Pokemon actually go...Pokemon hunting? Like, to eat them? >:3
Wasn't there a Tauros ranch in the anime? And I'm sure I saw a Magikarp on a plate somewhere too.
Magikarp was a weakiling, remember ? But when he transformed into to Gyrados, he was one of the most powerful pokemon around! ;D
And, those fourth generation pokemon look ridiculous. Pokemon is just pathetic now.
Yes, they've lost their creative touch.
How creative were the original pokémon? Most of them were just lifted from animals or fantastical creatures.
Blah, at least they weren't so bloody ugly as they are now. Probably the only pokemon that were functional in the third generation were Medichan and that psychic/steel combo that I can't remember the name of. Those were also my two faves of that generation. Sadly, not so much for the rest of the crap out there...
As for G/S/C, they extended a fair bit what originally came for RBY. The game was FUN, and had quite a bit of variety in terms of tactics of pokemon battles, what with held items and the increase of the number of moves. Espeon and Umbreon were REALLY original in their own time, as was HOUNDOOM! I really liked houndoom...
Now someone here, make a list of your opinion of the crappiest pokemon of all the generations, hmm?
Crappiest as in the least useful, or as in the stupidest?
Ugliest/stupidest/least useful.
I can't think of ugliest, but I can think of my favorites from each generation.
Red/Blue/Yellow:
Charizard
Scyther
Electabuzz
Magmar
Gold/Silver/Crystal
Umbreon
Espeon
Skarmory
Tyranitar
Ruby/Saphire/Emerald
Metagross
Aggron
Flygon
I have only one favorite: The one, the only, Squirtle. He's the man!
My Squirtle could pwn everything in its way back in the day. I wouldn't evolve that little guy. I actually needed to have a friend trade me over a Wartortle so I could will be Pokedex.
Power to the Squirtle man. Power to the Squirtle.

yeah, me too.
I guess I'm not exactly a complete 90's child then.
My favortie pokemon of all time was squirtle. I have to say I completely agree with johnny19 about squirtle. Man, my Blastoise could destory everything in its way!
But perhaps another one of my favs was Mew. He was so cute!! And he was extremely powerful.
Let's exclude legendaries from the discussion, eh? semi legendaries like Snorlax and Metagross, however can be discussed.
Hmm... CHARIZARD
OOH, VILEPLUME, one of my all time favorites, and my favorite grass type of all time.
Edit: Jesus, I must be illiterate or something.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. ::)
Anyway, Scyther was always one of my favorites. He just looked so cool, like this weird mantis-velociraptor hybrid.
Scizor was cool too. Just not as cool.
I also liked Electabuzz, he had madd electric power, like 10x more than Pikachu.
I was particularly fond of Riku (sp?), you know,Pikachu's evolve form?

Raichu.
Thankies! I remember the good pokemon episodes then they started sucking ;).......
There was such thing as a good Pokeman episode? Hehe I never got the whole Pokeman craze but then again I guess that is my age, we were all into G.I. Joe and Transformers as kids and TMNT were just starting out...they were cool, as was all of the 80s, alot more then the pathetic 90s.
You did NOT just call the 90s pathetic. The 90s were the bomb, dude the 80s were totally lame cmpared to the 90s.

Hey, unless you have lived through and remember both then you cannot make that comparison.
The 80s were better.
Except for the crappy Anti-Drug videos. Those weren't better.
And the clothes. *shudders*
ah yes, anti-drug ads...there was a spoof made of it, anti-lightsaber ad. It was funny Star Wars spoof...
Yes, but the 80's got the original Star Wars and the Indiana Jones movies.

Indiana Jones = God. This is the only forum that I don't have Indie as my avatar.
Indianin Jones did rock, this is true. I really like them all. ;)
A new one is coming out in 2008, I believe. I can't wait!
wow really? It's been a while.
Yeah how old is Indie now?
Assuming Harrison Ford is still playing? Probably around 50 or 60. Although, isn't Indiana immortal since he drank from the Holy Grail?

Yep, Harry's back.
And no, Indiana ages. Actually, in the Young Indiana Jones chronicles it shows him in the future, when he's like, 80.

No one of the stipulations to having immortality, you had to stay in the cave with the grail and not cross the seal, which Indy did and caused the cave to crumble and lose the Holy Grail.
Oh and the 80s only got 2 out of the 3 original Star Wars, the first came out in 1977.
Transformers! Hahaha, god I loved that show. I wish I could make The Noise.
Ooo, I hadn't heard about that new Indiana Jones movie! Thanks for mentioning that.
I guess I was a little vague on the Star Wars part. But I know when they came out.

Crappiest:
R/B/Y
~Bellsprout (and evolvtions)
G/S/C
~The mantaray one
~Corsilla
~kingdra
R/E/S
~most. not listing.
as for thje tarous ranch in the anime, there was.
Except we americans never got to see the Safari zone episode, because it was banned for questionable content. Turns out the warden was rather... 'trigger-happy'... And everyone knows 4kid's policy on crazy people with guns... morons catering to soccer moms...
But at least Shaman King was SOMEWHAT good. Though it seems that some thought it was crap. Not this one though, heheh.
Did anyone ever play Pokemon Stadium for the N64? I played it yesterday, that game is madddd fun!
I never had Pokemon Stadium. I did have Pokemon Snap though, and it was pretty sweet.
4Kids are anime killers.
I had both Pokemon Stadiums, they were really fun. That wouldn't be bad for the virtual console...
They canceled the Safari episode? I saw it quite a few times when I was a kid.
Did you also happen to see a guy point a gun at Ash? If you didn't, then the episode your thinking of (where ash catches a bunch of Tauros), is not the episode that you actually saw.
yes I did.
For the life of me, I cannot fathom how that is possible. 4kids was supposed to BAN that episode because of the trigger-happy safari zone warden.
Same reason why One Piece is so heavily editted.
I think maybe I saw it somewhere else...d
I remember in a later episode they actually showed all the Tauros Ash caught, at Oak's place. Some continuity editor they had, eh?
You should know by now: COntinuity in cartoons is nothing more than a myth. Same thing goes for a number of video game series, and sometimes, even Star Trek. Ash is still ten years old, even though all those adventures must have taken SEVERAL years... blah.
Well, as far as that goes, then yes there's no continuity. But certain events in the story have continuity. Since we never saw Ash catch his Tauros (All of them), their appearance in the anime is odd.
I can't believe he's only ten. I mean, to leave home and wander across the earth fighting pokemon at age ten?

Ha! More like the fact that his mom's O.K. with that.
she wasn't as far as I could tell, she was constantly nagging him
Oh. I was young O.K.!!!!!! I can be wrong sometimes too.
I also remember the 90s being the time when the great game, AlttP was released, only 5 days after my birthday. :)
Don't you mean like the day you were BORN?
NO, i was born on April 8th. AlttP came out on April 13th.
I think he was referring to the difference in your age, saying the game is just as old as you pretty much.
Lttp was released on a monday so that would mean... YOU WERE BORN ON A .... wednesday.
I was...? Cool, I was born on a wednesday! ;)
