i think that vaati fell into a huge bucket of grape juice when he was quite young. it turned his skin purple and he was taunted because of it, so that is why he turned evil.
oh, yeah.
Mabye the game designers thought that would affect his personality.

Realistically (as a Zelda game can get!), perhaps he merely couldn't change his skin color (I recall him being a purple Minish, but I could be wrong), or such skin colors actually do exist in Zelda games: In Oracle of Ages, Veran is green and nobody made much of a fuss about it (then again, there was a lot else to make a fuss about it). And he really liked having purple skin.
of course, kids love scary purple things. Examples? Grimace from McDonalds, and Barney.
And whatever was on that building in The Minish Cap.
I though Veran had a light blue skin.

Veran's skin is just one of those blue-green colors that doesn't belong on either side of the color fence. But it's a decidedly different shade than a Hylian or a Gerudo.

Every year, 4,000,000 minish die from choaking themselves to look cool. Its not too late however. Get rid of all the rope and stuff that can be used for choaking. Vaati is purple because my sister told me to order Nintendo to make Vaati purple. Which is rather strange, because my sister doesn't even play video games. Why would she want a Zelda villian to be purple? Hmmm. This calls for some investigation. Too bad she tries to avoid me. Something about me always talking about fantasy. ::)

I think the reason why Vaati is purple is because that's how he was born. Just like some people are born with dark skin while others are born with light. But the fact that it's purple, is quite strange. It could be he's some kind of exotic race of Minish.
And JQ, the purple came out already. I'm dying my hair black next.

I have blond hair, but every winter it turns brown, and when it gets blond again its a little bit less. 8) I'm looking less and less blond every year.

Nah, I don't think it's that. When it shows the flashback of when Vaati and Ezlo were Minish, Vaati had purple hair and skin, and red eyes. Of course, you said he was "destined" but I don't really believe it was his destiny to be evil. but, then again, he might have started to turn that color once he started to become entranced into the dark hearts of the humans. But, personally, I don't believe anybody has a destiny. Whatever happens, happens because you made it happen.

Yes, he does have his share of groupies (me being one of them). But...I don't see how that has to do with with him being purple...

Now really, JQ, why would they be posting a topic about me in the section of the forums that's all about the Zelda characters. And I simply dyed my hair because it's my favorite color (because Vaati got me to like it), whoever said I was trying to copy him? :P

My theory of Vaati:
His parents were killed/died somehow and Ezlo was, like, his godfather so he went to live with him after they died.
My theory of Vaati (fanfiction style...so sue me):
His mother has purple hair, purple skin, blue eyes and his father has brown hair like a lot of the Minish, red eyes, and normal Minish-colored skin.
