Zelda
Mario
Yoshi
Pokemon

Here are games that don't seem like they'd be Nintendo games:

Nintendogs
Starfox
Samus
Game and Watch
Kirby
Ice Climbers
Earthbound
F-Zero

Um, okay, but the series Samus Aran is in is called Metroid.

this makes no sense. Just because the games aren't major franchises like those three (Mario and Yoshi I count as the same) doesn't mean they don't seem like Nintendo games. No sense at all. Especially when Nintendogs has Nintendo in the title. Please explain how these don't seem like Nintendo games?

Also, Nintendo doesn't make the games, other companies make them for the Nintendo consoles.

That list makes no sense at all. What basis does a game have to be to be "considered" a Nintendo game? Why is Pokemon considered a Nintendo game when they did not even create it but Metroid (have no idea why you called it Samus) was one of the first games in Nintendo?  Or a game like Nintendog which has the word Nintendo in it or a game like Earthbound with the main character named Ness, an anagram for Nintendo, are not considered Nintendo games?

Good point, Shikamaru.  After all, aren't the Pokémon games developed by a company called Game Freak?

I believe some are made by Hudson...Snap was I think. The handhelds were made by gamefreak, yes. I remember that logo, because on the red and blue games you could change the color style of the screen during the logo if you input the right code. I always made it jello-ish.

Shik you were wrong on one part though, Nintendo does make some games like Mario, Zelda, and Metroid to name a few. Yes some third parties get involved once in a while like Capcom with handheld Zelda games. But that is the big argument against Nintendo, they make great 1st party games but cannot get 3rd party games which is the only thing Xbox and PS3 get.

I'm not saying Nintendo makes no games I'm just saying that most games aren't made by the console companies themselves.

Yeah that is true but with Nintendo 90% of the big seller games are made by Nintendo itself. Which is why its hard to attract 3rd party companies to make games for Nintendo. Luckily they got Square-Enix back so that should help but they need alot more 3rd party companies to come over if they want to succeed.

hopefully having the Dragonquest games coming out for both DS and Wii will help...unfortunately they haven't stated whether either of those games will be released in America...

What report have you read? They are both coming to America, that was stated from the beginning. As well as the FFXII game for the DS

Nippon Ichi Software could make the Disgaea series for Nintendo consoles.  I know I would buy them.

hmm Game Informer lied to me...are we talking about the same games though? Which ones are you talking about?

Game Informer is the one who said that both games and the FFXII game for DS will be released in America. You must have misread the article. Not to mention Nintendo Power said the same thing.

Which issue was this in? Maybe I read it in an earlier issue and skipped in the later one where they said it was coming...

It was about 2 issues ago. But tell me, why would Game Informer report something like that if it WASN'T coming to America. Obviously you read it wrong as even Nintendo Power is saying the same thing.

I will go get it, but they were discussing how losing Square Enix was a big blow to Sony and gain for Nintendo. Then they mentioned they were releasing games for the Wii and DS, but no release dates were set for America as of yet.

Is that your basis? Release dates? You do release that America doesn't get games made in Japan until much later. There is a !@#@-load of translation they have to do and it is completely normal for a SE game to come out many months in America compared to Japan. If both Game Informer and Nintendo Power talked about the games...they are coming to America eventually.

I never said they weren't coming, I said that there was no release date for them.

Hahaha I meant to put Nintendogs in the first list. I just think these games are wierd that they're Nintendo games... I always though they weren't ('Cept Nintendogs, Zelda, and Mario. And Yoshi.)

Title: Re:Haha!
Post by: DW on February 19, 2007, 10:06:44 PM
yet you haven't heard of those games being for a Nintendo system? especially metroid and earthbound?
Title: Re:Haha!

This is still getting off the point even though MCR claimed to play "lodsa games" I want to know MCR's basis for their craptastic list?

Starfox - created by Miyamoto

Earthbound - Created by a second party company of nintendo (APE) along with Hal Laboratories

Metroid - created by the late great Gunpei Yoko

Nintendogs - created by Miyamoto

Kirby - Developed by HAL laboratories (also made mario party and other party titles, second party of Nintendo)

F-Zero - developed by nintendo EAD (a first party development sector of nintendo)

Ice Climbers - I'm pretty sure Miyamoto was also behind this
Edit: actually made by Kazuaki Morita, who was a main programmer for Super Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda.

Game and Watch - created way way before the original game boy as the FIRST series of portable games, by Gunpei Yoko)

Well, it seems weird because of what we would traditionally associate (to a limited degree) what nintendo makes.

I guess another reason is because a lot of these series aren't well known if you're young.

But these games have the epitomous quirky flavor that nintendo is so well known for.

I got a game and watch game and it was really fun. and I think even the young ones should still know Metroid, it is still very large...
