Just who has or is the minish cap? Is it the cap that Vaati stole or is it Ezlo? On the back of the box it says that link "finds" a hat that allwos him to "shrink". Based off of this one would think that Ezlo is the minish cap, is this true?
Yes, Ezlo is the Minish Cap. I can't remember what the cap Vaati stole was called.
What? I thought the hat that Vaati stole was the Minish Cap. :-X
It is quite confusing, huh? I just called the hat Vaati stole "the wish-granting cap"
Yeah, tell me about it. :P
It would be nice if there were a canon clarification on what hat is called what. :P
Yeah, especially since Ezlo is a hat and he's a Minish, and the hat that Vaati stole was made by a Minish (Ezlo) So both of them could be called the Minish Cap. I even asked Ezlo, but last time I check, Jack hadn't answered any of the Ask Ezlo questions.
The Minish Cap was the name of Vaati's cap, actually.
yes, they say it a few times in the game.
Hard to remember, but yes, they did say so, such as Ezlo's small speach to Zelda when she put Vaati's Cap on to wish everything back to normal.
Hmm, good point. :-\ But did he REALLY call it that?
Yeah, Ezlo, the maker, did.
Just wondering, where in the game did he say that? I've nearly beat the game and I don't remember him saying that. Was it at the end?
I just started playing through MC again, and yes, the Minish Cap is the cap that Vaati stole. Ezlo is just Ezlo...
On the START screen, it says, "The Lgend of Zelda: The Minish Cap" and Ezlo is sitting on top of the 'C' in "cap" I believe, I know this doesn't prove much, but wouldn't it be that Ezlo is the Minish Cap if his picture is on the logo?
OMG, just stop arguing! You never actually use the MInish Cap. Just pay attention...Plus, Ezlo is transformed into a cap, so that might also clear things up.
At zelda.com they have a little promo of the Minish Cap in the right corner and it states: "using the power of a "special hat" , Link is able to shrink and explore the world of the Minish. Since Link never touches the hat Vaati has when he shrinks throughout the entire game, then just what is the Minish Cap. I say it's Ezlo though.
O.K. Vaati, the Minish Cap is worn by Vaati. he stole it from Ezlo. Ezlois the talking hat that you where. SPOILER At the end, Zelda pus on the Minish Cap, and she wishes all the damamge undone. Then it unravels. it says this after yo beat the 2nd boss and are going to hyrule castle.
So why did they make that statement on the box. I mean the King of Hyrule was called the King of Red Lions, but he's still a boat. I say that Ezlo was destined to become a hat, and serve a young new hero, ala, Link.

Then the sword going through the Z in the LTTP title is the Link to the Past, the one in OOT the Ocarina of Time, and King of the Red Lions picture on TWW title is The Wind Waker.
The King of the Red Lions is the King of Hyrule, so it's backwards: the boat is him. That zelda.com stuff isn't proof, Horsehead, but rather just reading the box.
Also, I've just realized that there wasn't a quote at the end saying it was the Minish Cap. If someone can, please go back through the game to when you leave Hyrule Castle after getting the Four Sword upgraded so you can split in two. I think that the quote is there.
I found the quote. It states: "My name is Ezlo, master of Minish lore and sorcery. The Mage's Cap was my creation. But it's limitless power has caused nothing but trouble for your kind." So what does this mean? Either Ezlo is the Minish Cap or Nintendo screwed up their own title. Plus in every other Zelda game, when there's an "item" in the title ala, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, the Wind Waker etc. Link will either use that item or spend half if not the entire game looking for it. In Minish Cap, Link knows nothing about Vaati's Cap having magical powers until Ezlo sheds a little light on his past.

We weren't arguing. At least I wasn't. I just wanted to make sure. ::)
Horsehead, it was NEVER capitalized, which gives the quote a different meaning. He just said that the mage's cap was made by him, this was a PRONOUN, not the actual name.
I guess we'll never know, then, huh?
I think Ezlo is the Minish Cap because this is what I saw on Zelda .com, which is the officiall website. "Using the power of a special hat called the Minish Cap, Link can shrink and explore the magical world of the Minish -- tiny people who live just beneath his feet!" And here's the link to prove it. http://zelda.com/universe/
I think that's what's written on the box, actually. There's actually no proof which is which, so we'll never know.
Ezlo is not the Minish Cap.
Vaati has the Minish Cap.
In the cut scene showing Vaati using the Minish Cap to turn Ezlo into a cap, its say nothing about Ezlo being the Minish Cap.
Also,
the caption from the box is as follows,
"Use the magic of the cap to shrink and explore the world of the Minish lying hidden beneath your feet!"
The description for Ezlo is as follows,
"A mysterious creature tha Link meets during his adventure. He chatters away noisily at Link. He can be quite fussy, but he does seem to know what he's talking about."
The description for and shrinking/growing is as follows,
"Climb onto a portal to have Ezlo shrink you...."
Never in there does it mention that Link actually uses the cap itself, but only its power and magic. Ezlo created the Minish Cap, so obviously he has the power.
The box simply implies that for spoiler reasons. Technically Ezlo is a minish cap, but all minish wear caps :p

I know it was written in the box, so what? Zelda.com is an official website, so I'd think it would be pretty reliable.
Yes, you can rely on it to copy the box perfectly. It still doesn't prove anything.
Yes, if another site put the box up in a corner (legally, to add) then what you're saying means this is proof, so if a non-Zelda site itself does this then it's complete proof.
Actually, I think it was just a link to another page on that site. I'm pretty sure.
I'll go check.
Yep, it was only a link, and that was just a general description of the game. And Vaati has a magic cap too, so this 'proof' is disbanded.
only four words ezlo is the minish cap
Thank you for showing how incredibly intelligent and persuasive you are and posting such a long, thought out response with all your reasons. Since you explained, I value your opinion and don't completely disregard it.

Actually, that's five words.

I don't think that was nessisary, Kate. Shikaboose was just saying that you can't jump to conclusions and say that Ezlo is the Minish Cap without having some backup reasons. No one will believe you. But I do agree that Ezlo is the Minish Cap because, personally, I think he plays a bigger role than the hat that Vaati wears.

Quotei knew that i'm not that stupid ,i was annoyed at that point ,right so leave of
That was off-topic and rude.
Vaati was being very polite.
Back on topic, Ezlo made the Minish Cap. He is not the Minish Cap.
SPOILERS!!!
At the end, Ezlo tells Zleda to try on
the Minish Cap. If he's not a hat anymore, than what did Zelda try on?
END OF SPOILERS!!
Thank you, Violinist. :)
Good point...maybe there's a twist, and Ezlo and Vaati's hat are both the Minish Cap? It's a slim possibility, but it's still a possibility. :-\

Leave of? What's that mean? Anyways, that's nothing to get angry at her for, that was just rude.
I suppose they could both be true. The actual Minish Cap by name and the Minish Cap (Ezlo) by nature...
Which would make it an even better reason to call the game "the Minish Cap".
It would have been easier to call the game 'The Minish Caps'. We wouldn't have to worry about which is which. :-*
But then again, they like to throw in those little mind bogglers, so they can be both, but they put "Cap" as a singular noun to confuse us.
But what also makes me think that Ezlo is the Minish Cap is because on the start screen when you start the game, it has "Minish Cap" below "Legend of Zelda" and on the 'C' there's a silhouette of Ezlo sitting on it.
It's a little different in this picture, though. But how Ezlo's just sitting there on the screen kind of screams out "Look at me! I'm the Minish Cap!" (http://www.siliconera.com/gba/zeldaminishcap/041105s1.jpg)
