I just "aquired 190$, but I can't decide what to get. I could wait a little while longer to get the Wii, or buy a PS2 and .hack games, and Tales, FFX/XII, and KH1/2. But Wii has the better TP, and has motion stuff, and will get lots of innovative titles. I don't know what to do!  :'(
Also, how much does a gamecube sell for? A good condition one.

Personally, I'd roll a d20 to decide.  There are great titles that on both systems that I would want to get, so if I had money to either get a Wii or a PS2, I'd have a tough time deciding myself.

under 100 dollars for a good gamecube, isn't it? It was when we got it last year...I wouldn't get the Wii just for TP yet, I would wait for Brawl and some other good ones, one or two games isn't much to go on, especially if you already have Gamecube TP. PS2 has a lot of great games that have come out over the years, so that would be pretty good. IT all depends on whether you want to play the great games of the past or prepare yourself for the future.

i have beaten Gamecube TP, but I want to try the Wii version. Just like I want to try original LA.

I say get a Wii, brotha. It's next gen, and it has some great titles in the future, such as Super Sm ash Bros Brawl, Twilight Princess, Mario Strikers Charged... the list goes on. Get a Wii. You won't regret it.

I wonder if they'll make a Mario baseball for it, because my cousin got that for gamecube yesterday and it is really good...

I say, go for the PS2. The Wii's fairly new, right? So you can wait a bit longer to get one; you know, once it gets some worthwhile games. And, like you said, the PS2 has a bunch of great games, so unless you're holding out for the PS3 *shudders* (whose backwards compatibility sucks *ss, by the way), then I'd spring for the PS2.

I don't think 190 bucks is enough for a wii. A ps2 and some games maybe, but NOT a wii.

I highly recommend a Wii, I sold my PS2 immediately once I got my Wii as I saw no more use for it. There are some great games for it but I grew weary of the PS2 and its "same games". By which I mean almost all the big games on the PS2 are similar in philosophy, lots of blood and gore, killing, swearing, and nudity and little storyline. The PS2 will not be making any more games after this year so you might as well save up a little more (probably take a while to find a Wii anyways) and get a Wii with already a few great games, more on the way, and the fantastic (and growing) Virtual Console library.

Again I didn't miss out on anything. I rented the first God of War and took it back later that night as it was, again, nothing but the usual crud that PS2 threw out the majority of the time. However, I will say that it did have a much better storyline and concept then most of the other games for the PS2. The only game I wanted to get from the PS2 but missed out was Final Fantasy XII, however I played the demo that came with Dragon Quest and I was disappointed with the new battle system.

You're falling victim to your own criticism Dr. Rabies.  A while ago in the Battlefield topic, you told people to quit glorifying Master Chief as some kind of God.  Seems that you're praising God of War as some kind of God.  God of War is a good game, but not THE game.  I personally like many other games better, and "the best" is a matter of opinion.  What might be the best for you, might be the worst for others.

Well, I say you should get a Wii, not only because Nintendo friggin rocks, but because Nintendo is doing something that the other companies dare not do: Try new things. Nintendo keeps up with the graphics of the other systems, while being careful to be unique and fun amoung the other consoles. I highly suggest getting a Wii, because as stated before: "This is only the tip of the ice-burg".

I agree withe what ZV said. You should try a Nintendo Wii, simply because it's fresh, new, and there are millions of things that it can do.

I say the PS2. The Wii sucks. But that's just me, I don't like to hold onto grudges for very long, but I'm gonna despise the Wii as long as I live!

I would also like to see the reasons Vaati despises the Wii so much. It's the future, and Ps2 is the past, even though it's still getting games for some reason.

Even though the PS2 is that past, I'd still get one so I could play games like Wild Arms and Disgaea.  Unless the Wii is going to put those on the VC, which I somewhat doubt.

Actually there are plenty of PS3's out there collecting dust on the shelves, its just that people do not want them or cannot or will not pay the high price tag for them. Not to mention there has been some problems with PS3's breaking down and overheating...although I think those problems have been corrected for the most part.

Except for the price tag, which is probably the main reason people aren't buying it.

it's also because their CEO is an asshole. In an EGM interview, he said it was the cosumers fault because they arern't buying the PS3, and if they were super behind, peope would want them to make a comeback. Did he forget about the Gamecube? It sucked, and no one wanted it Nintendo to make an awesome comeback. Well, except for the loyalists, and a few other people.

Well I do not think the Gamecube sucked and it still sold well, but compared to the PS2 it was a failure. But alot of that had to do with limited third-party support and lack of other media (like DVD, or good Internet games).

Lets not forget Nintendo, even last gen still had one upper hand, handhelds. And today Nintendo still dominates that as well. Not to mention that even last gen, Nintendo made a profit with each console sold while the Xbox and PS2 lost money with each console. That is still true today as Nintendo makes money on each Wii and Microsoft loses money on each 360 and Sony loses ALOT more with each PS3. Of course, the games get it back and more.

Do not forget, Nintendo owns the top two selling video game properties ever, Mario and (sigh) Pokemon.

yeah, when the original DS came out my friend went to try it at Wal-Mart and the button broke :othen they announced the liter smaller version and I'm thinking 'Oh god...' but yeah like everyone I know with a DS has a broken button, usually the shoulder buttons.

That is why I stick with the original DS and not the terrible DS Lite, but lets get back to what matters.

probably becasue the Wii doesn't have many good games out like the PS2, even though it has the VC and has just came out...that's why most people don't like it...besides how people call it a 'kiddy system' because of it's graphic style so it's uncool to play it...there are a lot of reasons to hate the Wii, although really they are all bull.

No no, there has to have been something for her to say, she despises it. I do not like Sony and I owned their two pathetic systems and I have no opinion about 360 but there has to be something for Vaati to despise the Wii. It had to be something that screwed her.

I think it would be best to just PM her, she'll respond faster that way.

It's so annoying trying to help my friend beat somebody on Kingdom Hearts CoM when the shoulder buttons are broke and you can't cycle through the cards...you are lucky rabies...

The Wii isn't exaclty a fad. It's the next generation in gaming, so if you don't really like it, then you'll fall off the face of the Nintendo World.

The thing is, I don't really believe that Nintendo added anything much to TP while they delayed it. And Ninty's decision made a LOT of people quite angry over such an anticipated release. Don't believe me? Try asking on any other forum community...

Oh, no doubt it did create anger, in fact, I've seen some of that anger in other places than around here. But, despite all that, it was a business decision. NIntendo is a company, and it is around to make money. So, business wise, it was a smart idea, and it was kinda inevitable that TP would be for the Wii.

I think it was a bit of a gimmick to delay it that long for different control schemes.  I was expecting a complete difference in the two due to the extra power the Wii has over the Gamecube.  To tell the truth, I haven't really seen anything on the Wii that's graphically significant.

The developers needed more time, and in an EGM interview it was stated that it was where it needed to be around the ned of the original development time, and they were happy they got an extra year. besides, did you really want to play in gray Twilight Realm, or this one? Besides, they got rid of Midnas cel-shaded hair, the graphics improved, and the games opening as better than it had previosly appeared.

But what about side quests and the infamous dead market town? They could have added a lot more mini games that were replayable and were worth playing merely for the sake of playing...

They sorta messed up somewhat in the gameplay dept, even though the graphics dept was refined...

I only wrote what I know, not everything everyone wants to know. but i want to know what happened to the Hyrule field beta, like the old Hyrule caslte gates back in '04.

Well remember the classic Miyamoto quote, "a delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever". I do not care that TP was delayed. It may have been to make the control schemes for the Wii but then again it was the Wii version of TP that won numerous Game of the Year. While I am sure the GC people were upset, they should realize that the Wii is now what is important and what is the future, and they had to wait for the Wii to be realized otherwise no one would have bought the game for the Wii.

Plus I don't think that delaying a game's release date says anything about the system's entertainment value.

Besides, graphically, TP only has a fraction of the Wiis power (or so I've heard) because it had to be changed from a GC title to a Wii title.

i heard the Wii has the graphics power of the Xbox 1. I don't know about the rest of you, but I want a game that has better graphics than Halo 2, and I want a lot of them.

A game isn't all about graphics. So many games that I've seen that had great graphics ended up being rather boring because they didn't really have any substance.

Games should be about having fun, not about graphics.

Not to mention as before, Sony and Microsoft are losing a fair amount over their systems, so what if they are overpowered? That don't mean anything if they lose profit on it.

For example: The Red Version of Pokemon has terrible graphics. And yet, it's a better game than Halo 2 will ever be.

I don't know what "The Red Version" is. A game should always be about having fun, but graphics are a good thing to have. Like Baten Kaitos. The 1st ones movie showed it had great graphics, but they chose crappy pre-rendered backgrounds. Even when they did close-ups, you could never see their eyes. Except in Origins, when they did a really close-up of Wiseman.

I know I read or heard something like that before. It's sad, but effective. But I would still like a game with good graphics, and some decent camera control. But I've read that a lot of people buy games(or don't buy) games based on graphics. Take WW. Everyone thought we would be getting a game with realistic graphics after Spaceworld 2000, but then we got "Celda". It only sold about 5,000,000 copies.

I never siad it was bad. Anyway, I came to a decision.  8)PS2. I saw a KH2 video, and it convinced me to get it. Plus, the way the next Zelda looks, and me being a .hack lover, I have to get it soon. That, and I'm down to about 173$. I had to pay off a bet I lost. I won't lock this since the topic has changed to something entirely unrelated, and it's fun. ;D

Yes but the graphic lovers are what keep Microsoft and Sony in gaming because the majority of their games are nothing to write home about (sure once in a while they get a great or fantastic game, it took the 360 a year to make a game to compare to the Wii, and still lost most Video Game of the Year awards). But that is what alot of kids go for, they want pixalated breats and blood as it makes them feel worth something. And that is sad because kids today do not know what great games are, at least the Wii shows them what gaming in its greatest age was like but many only get the bastardized versions and have no idea what real gaming is. Now they think they need to see every detail and it needs to be online...those are the kids and people who need friends and get out of their parent's basements.

One of the 360's biggest things is the achievements. it gives the graphic addicts a chance to feel like they accomplished something by sitting in front of the screen playing beautiful yet horrible mass murder games.

Might want to edit your description there Shik because you know how pathetic our mods are (of course except Wyndisis) as they will warn you for anything as long as it does not deal with RULE 4: ABOUT NOT SPAMMING. Because you can spam as much as you want but they do not care, but any other little thing you do they will bust you on...better check your credit report too

i don't no if anyone has said this already but if u want a Ps2 why not get a Ps3 cause there better then Ps1 and Ps2 cause u can play the Ps1 and Ps2 gomes on it and u can get it chipped for pl;aying dvd's on it (thats what i did for the Ps2) ,but if i were u io would get a wii :D

because PS3s cost way too much, the limit is $175 or so, PS3s explode, there aren't many good games for it, and it really isn't that much of an improvement over the PS2 besides graphics. and the heavy graphics is what makes it have so many problems.

Wait, so you settled for a PS2?  I see... though i can't say I agree, it is your money... have fun. And Kingdom Hearts is a great game.

I don't want a PS3!!! it does cost to much, and the only real exclusives for it seem to be FFXIII, which does look awesome. And as I've stated before, I can't resist .hack. And I want to know what happened after Sign, even though you play as Kite. I will eventually get a Wii, just like when I got my Gamecube, I will be patient. Any ideas on how to sneak a PS2 into a house without anybody noticing?
