You know, you were the one who started the super-sized font. And it's the Chatboard, so we're allowed.

GIR is awesome!
Title: Re:To Howl, if you're reading this as a guest
Post by: darkphantomime on April 21, 2007, 03:10:12 PM
You gave Jdog a warning for the super-sized font...

Even though it WAS stretching the page...
Title: Re:To Howl, if you're reading this as a guest
Post by: Mysterious F. on April 21, 2007, 03:11:04 PM
Stretching the page is against the rules, while in the Chatboard spam isn't.
Title: Re:To Howl, if you're reading this as a guest
Post by: darkphantomime on April 21, 2007, 05:18:08 PM
And yet, for some reason, gamefreak doesn't give warnings when someone posts a link that inadverdantly stretches the page...

hmm...

Not to mention your reasoning is a little flawed...

If you're refering to me, I always use URL Links, and not everybody knows how to URL Link, hence the 'How to post in Special Ways' topic in the Announcements section.

And as long as we don't stretch the page, we can do this all we want. There's no flaw in that, actually.

So is page-stretching, apparently..
Title: Re:To Howl, if you're reading this as a guest
Post by: Mysterious F. on April 21, 2007, 05:59:53 PM
Not in the Chatboard.

Also, you already know page stretching is against the rules, so you get a warning.

*I suffer from a face fault*

Page Stretching is doing something that causes the text to stretch the page.

I still don't understand.

I guess I'll make a topic to give an example then.

Thank you, because I have never understood page-streching. Also, I didn't know it was against the rules.

If she didn't know it was against the rules, isn't you giving her a warning a little... unjustified?
Title: Re:To Howl, if you're reading this as a guest
Post by: MagmarFire on April 21, 2007, 07:43:01 PM
Well, not knowing some of the rules is really no excuse for breaking them. Eh, this is probably just a moot argument.

However, could we please put it together, people? We have, like, two topics dealing with rule enforcement already, so why don't we just take it to those topics or to PMs?
Title: Re:To Howl, if you're reading this as a guest
Post by: darkphantomime on April 21, 2007, 07:49:48 PM
I still say those warnings were unnecessary, seeing as how they were just doing what everyone else was doing.
Title: Re:To Howl, if you're reading this as a guest
Post by: MagmarFire on April 21, 2007, 07:54:46 PM
Then could you please say it in those two topics or in PMs? It'll be more organized that way.

Anyway, where were we...? ;)

Alright, I feel obligated to say something here. Anybody will tell you that I never give a warning for a first offense. I give them a verbal warning, and if they do it again, I get on their case. Lil Din here didn't know what page stretching was, therefore, a warning is not in order. If you're punished for something, you need to know what you're being punished for. Whocares, if you still feel that a warning is in order, go ahead, but I had to say something to that. You seriously should stop to think about who you're warning and why.

I agree with Zelda Veteran.  She wasn't aware what page stretching was, and she was only following suit with everyone else in this topic.  Although, JDog should use a little more discretion, I think his was just accidental.  I usually just resize or shrink something when it spams.  Page stretching is not against the rules (to my knowledge) since it can be easily remedied.  However if used in excess deliberately, I think it would be acceptable to warn for it

Right, like if its only on a page, it can be linked in a matter of seconds. However, if a member has a signature that stretches the page, action should be taken. Anyways, what stretched the page in the first page? The large font? :-\
Title: Re:To Howl, if you're reading this as a guest
Post by: Hi no Seijin on April 22, 2007, 03:54:22 PM
I don't think it's the large font.  It's probably something more like a line of a's.  Something like this "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa," but longer.
Title: Re:To Howl, if you're reading this as a guest
Post by: darkphantomime on April 22, 2007, 04:30:30 PM
It was both size and a string of continuous, unbroken letters.
Title: Re:To Howl, if you're reading this as a guest
Post by: Mysterious F. on April 24, 2007, 05:52:18 PM
You could still stretch the page without the font, I'll post an example post.

And yes, page stretching is against the rules. Although, before I even read this topic, I deleted the warning. I forgot to do it when I left, so...
Title: Re:To Howl, if you're reading this as a guest
Post by: DW on April 24, 2007, 09:30:03 PM
Yes, but in the normal font, it wouldn't have happened, there weren't enough A's. It was the bonus size that made those A's large enough.
