With the end of the school year fast approaching, I'd like to start a topic about academic accomplishments, if you will...
My GPA is 4.571...
eh... here are my grades. :-*
Math: 76
Biology: 79
P.E.: 100
Spanish: 54
English: 98
Art: 77
World Geography: 79
I think I either have a 4.0 or very close at the moment....I may have a B+ in Computers instead of an A since I haven't turned in every assignment...she has a really screwed up way of doing it, she gives a bunch of assignments at one time and immediately counts them so you pretty much start off with an F, then you work on those until a due date, then you get another batch. So at quarter we had just gotten the first batch and like everyone got a D and got in trouble with their parents...
Grade: 7
Level: 4 (Our grade level are in four groups, 1 - 4. The higher the number is, the smarter the group is)
Major Classes:
Math - B
Reading - A
History/SS - 100%
Science - Either A or B. (Test I took today might decide which)
Classes for this Nine Weeks:
Public Speaking - B
Analyzing Technology - A
Average - Somewhere in the threes.
These may not seem like much but...
AP Calculus - 88 (REALLY hard, Just ask HNS)
AP English - 94 (Lots of work in there, we've probably written at least 70 essays this year in there)
Art IV - 97 (Did like 3 paintings this past grading period)
Spanish II - 95
No, they seem real high considering your grade level and the idfficulty of those subjects.
And, dude, AP is killer >:(
I don't ever want to take an AP class
Grade: 7th
Science- 97%
Algebra (advanced math, it's not counted in our GPA)- 95%
Technology- 100%
Language Arts- Percentage unkown, but I have an A
Social Studies- 100.2%
Woodshop- Percentage unkown, but I have an A
Overall GPA- 4.0 (excluding advanced math)
Wait, 'math' is labeled Pre-Algebra for my group.
It all depends on what state you live in.
Where I come from, it works like this... in an unweighted GPA, this is how it would be calculated.
Anything 96 or above counts as 4.00
95 - 3.88
94 - 3.75
93 - 3.63
92 - 3.5
91 - 3.37/8
90 - 3.25
And so on, deducting .125 of a point with each consecutive lower grade.
This may not apply to a lot of states out there... but a weighted GPA...
If the class is honors, add 1.00 to the Grade point as listed above.
If the class is AP, add 2.00 to the Grade Point.
There are two types of GPA's. First is unweighted GPA, which is the raw average without any Honors/AP bonuses. Can go up only as high as 4.00. It is a measure of basically what your raw average grades have been in ALL classes, as if they were equal. Mine is about 3.97 something I think, but it'll probably dip to 3.93 when I graduate...
Weighted GPA's, includes Honors and AP bonuses in calculation...
It only really takes meaning when you get to high school. What you have in middle school is basically a mock GPA, and pretty much has little impact on your future. But when you get to high school... It'll be VERY important when you apply to colleges and scholarships.
My grades are a little meh when compared to some of my friends. Even though they be in AP, they get grades as high as 96-98. But Calculus has proven really troublesome for me...
But at least I'm better than about half the class, so I'm about in the middle on that one...
all a's :]
I'm not that good at school anymore, I guess... xD; I should be making straight A's, but...
Computer Science Pre-AP : 98
German I : 90
English I Pre-AP : 93
Geometry Pre-AP : 78 (Yuck, and the teacher said he expects more out of me. ;w; I know it all, he's just weird and it has to be done his way.(which is long and pointless, in my humble opinion))
Biology Pre-AP : 100
World Geography Pre-AP : 87
Art I : 100
That's what I got on my report card this last six weeks. I expect my English grade to drop dramatically with the return of my spiteful pregnant teacher. (who shall no longer be pregnant, for better or for worse)
I'm in Pre-AP classes, as long as my score is not failing, I get the same weight as an AP GPA, so... yeah. xD I'm starting to turn into a bad student, I think, my parents are really disappointed in my high school grades so far. /: (They told me to stop reading, which is hilarious, I thought that's how people got smart?)
5.0 In fact, I've never gotten lower than an A- on a report card before. And next year I'm going to a genius high school.

I tried applying to a genius high school when i was in tenth grade, The North Carolina School of Science and Math. I had a GPA of about 4.375 and an SAT score of 1300... I didn't get in and I pretty much fell apart, had a couple of nervous breakdowns...
Did I mention my best friend who had a score of 1390 got in? I haven't seen him for nearly two years... bah...
Man, I just realized how much I suck :-* :-*
How are yours graded, ZV?

I was hysterical when I didn't get in last year. All my bros. got in a grade before me.
Compared with those who posted on this thread, I know how you feel, ZV. :-*
Right now, I think my GPA is a 3.889. I'm number one in my class, though, so I'm pretty happy with that. :D
That's quite good. That's, what, all A's and a B?

Your class sounds a little... underperforming and uncompetitive then... no offense.
Actually, last semester, I got all A's and an A-. It's my 9th grade year that killed me. Stupid Business and Finance class... My grade got down to a C all because of TWO homework assignments. Otherwise, I probably would've had an A- or a B. But a C!? :-*
And none taken, JQ Pickwick. Most of the students don't give a crap about their grades or just don't give an effort to bring them up. I, on the other hand, do care. Must be my near-obsession to outperform everyone. :P
Heh... wanna know something?
My brother was Valedictorian of his class, 2002. He thought he was very smart, that he could do extremely well... But when he got to college he realized that no matter how smart you think you are, there will always be someone smarter. In college, a lot of people were in at least the top 10% of their classes, at least in the more prestigious universities.
I've given up on competition. I've gotten disillusioned at all of that ever since I failed to get into that school 2 years ago. So... I don't believe in competition anymore, it just destroys you and you fight for what? To prove who is the 'smartest'? Things won't matter if you keep going by that quality...
My brother told me these things a long time ago, but I didn't realize it until after my breakdowns in Tenth grade...
Point taken. Overcompeting DOES tend to stress you out.
I STILL wish that 9th grade was easier on me, though. That's a given.
I think there is something that is affecting how we are seeing other member's grades...it seems some of us are graded on the 5-point system and some on the 4-point system....For me, a 4.0 is the highest.
My highest is 105, we don't exactly go by a GPA.... but I'll post my grades if you want... and in each class, the highest is 100.
English 02: 96

Ha, lol, we should put that into TDC banner. :D

im in 7 grade and took an SAT and scored in the top 11 percent of seniors going to college :)
So what exactly did you make?
Best overall for me: 1950
670 - Reading
570 - Writing
710 - Math
Yeah i don't know what any of you are talking about, i don't even know what a "GPA" is. We don't even get proper grades any more, they just give a mark as to how they think you''l do compared to your predicted SAT level in Year 9. (Which they took from the Sats in year 6) And British SATS are different to Americans so I can't compare that.
Yeah that probably didn't make any sense even if you are English but I just have to say to master key
QuoteRussian 2: 100
How on Earth are you that good at Russian, 100 sounds pretty awesome, and I do Russian as like an extra curricular thing and it is SO HARD I can only speak such basic russian and I have been doing an hour a week for about 6 months! You must be vair clever.
Heehee, well, i do take it 5 days a week, everyday, so you know, it's easy to pick up on. Not to meention that we have very good Russian teachers. But, yes, Russian can be a little hard sometimes.
To TZ: Kak dela? Ya delayu ochen horosho, ee tebya? :)

Unless you bring up the fact that the SAT is just another stupid standardized test that only reflects on how good a day a student had. I mean, if you just feel cruddy on the day you take a test that big, you're probably not going to do as well as you probably would have if you felt decent. That's why I hate the MEAP test, which is a "special" test that the state of Michigan gives to certain grades. Wait, I hate it because I take too much time. But you get my point.
The college board tends to be a whore-ish monopoly when it comes to standardized testing, blah.

haha as I said I am rubbish at Russian.
The extent of my knowledge is being able to say my name, age, what brothers/sisters and pets I have, and saying where I live. As well as being able to read/write in Cyrillic (but not knowing what it means in English)
I only got odd words from that, I think Kak is "What", Ya is "I", and ee tebya is "And You?"
But the rest I don't know... ^_^
Ohh, lemme be all smart-ish and translate:
"How are you doing? I am doing very good, and you?"
I forgot what my high school GPA was. I think for college it's like two point something. But bleh. Does it really show how smart I really am? Honestly, it's mostly because I'm a bit lazy when it comes to school work.
I'm sure the college will look over that when you just happen to not get any significant degrees.
Don't doubt me. I'll pull it off somehow.
I just finished my Winter semester with a 3.84. I am doing better in college than I ever did in high school, because back then I ranged between 3.4 and 3.6. It is probably because I like the whole college structure better, you know... you only have to go to one class a couple times a week, as opposed to high school when I had to do the same gosh darn thing every day. Anyway, the highlight of this semester was the getting the A in the 200 level history class I accidentally signed up for (I assumed it was 100 because it was listed under First Year).
I have all A's. :) I'm pretty proud... and surprised... I'm pretty lazy... ;)
I just discovered that I got a 4.0 in my Cultural Anthropology class. Coolioolio.
Smart but lazy. Get C's
4.0. Been that way and if I went any lower I'd DIE.
Mainly cuz me dad would kill me.
