Title: Emo's at your schoool
Post by: saria.. on May 06, 2007, 06:38:29 AM
There are not many emo's at my school. But most  of them  are such posers.... Though some of my friends are true emos but they don't slit their wrists.... ::) 8)

I hate the term emo. With a burning passion. It's a stereotype, you know. Ohh, they wera black. They must be emo. Yeah, no, not really. Maybe they just like the color black. If you classify anybody as emo it's just as bad as being racist to a black man or woman.

No it's not, because it's a choice. Your race and gender, obviously, are not. You can't seriously tell me that people who whine all the time about how much their life sucks while billions of people in this world are suffering much worse than them don't annoy you?

I don't believe in stereotypes. /: I mean, I know they exist, I just think it's kind of rude to shove everyone who wears black and cries into one group, people who wear pink and do... bad things in middle school into another...

I like emo boy hair, though. xD The stereotypical kind with hair in front of one eye. xD

Totally! <3

But yeah my friend died her hair black and likes emo type music. Everyone immediately started calling her a goth/emo, and she got so annoyed. Everyone thinks she slits her wrists just because she wears loadsa wristbands and bracelets.

A few people in my class ask me if I am an emo because I like to wear eyeliner and constantly have my ipod in my ears and most people can hear the thrashhing guitars through them. I just looked at them and said "No", and they were like, "alright then".

I've never seen you dress emo.

Anyways....I'm debating sending this to the chatboard.  On one hand it has a possibility of discussion, on the other hand, it might not.  I'll see where it goes.

A lot of girls at my school commonly refer to me as: Emo-dude. I guess its cuz my hair does do the one eye thing, and I often have emo thoughts and drawings.

Not all emo's cut their wrists, obviously, when people say that it annoys me as well...

wrist cutting as a stereotype is just plain annoying.

Stereotypes period are annoying....I think we actually had a topic about this before....People don't even see me as a person anymore it seems....I'm more like a walking textbook.
Title: Re:Emo's at your schoool
Post by: darkphantomime on May 07, 2007, 02:58:07 PM
I would be the one that made that topic...

Some people are really sick up in the head, with real problems and issues in their lives, but a lot of them are simply posers. That hair over the eye thing doesn't really make any sense. Do you even have an idea of what type of image you're trying to project? What personality you want others to see of yourself?

It's because they cut their wrists with kiddy-scissors. Or just streak pinkish eyeliner on their arms and take photos to put up on Myspace, where they sort of meld into the "scene" microculture.

QuoteGuide to Fake Wrist Cutting:
Step 1: Get a mechanical pencil. Fill it with graphite.
Step 2: Place said pencil on wrist, bring pencil towards you.
Step 3: Repeat step 2 several times.
Step 4: Rub off pencil marks. If you rub too hard, go back to step 2.
Viola! Seemingly cut wrists.

I actually used that to make a Triforce on my hand once.
If you aren't going by stereo types, maybe my textbook was right... *suicide*

People say that anybody is emo if they arent obnoxious or talking all the time. If they're quiet and maybe dont talk, then they're "emo". At least, thats how it is characterized at my school. Once again, it pisses me off.

At my school everyone TRIES to be emo because it's cool...people with awesome lives talk about how bad it sucks, they have it so good...

Mmm there are quite a few of what me and my friendilucks call "Happy Emos" at our school.
But nearly all of them are nice. Let them wear, say and think what they want I say!
Now chavs on the other hand, they are just plain arrogant, well the majority anyway. Argh..

I can't stand emo posers. They are like rich and happy, never experienced anything tragic, or anything at all. And then they talk about cutting themselves and stuff. Its retarted. You know why emos cut themselves? When there is such pain inside that it seems as if its suffocating you, you try to drown it out with real physical pain. Either way, its dumb. The girls I hang with know who they are, and the emo posers are despised amoung the real people who might have a reason to be kinda jacked up.

What annoys me most is the stereotypes that people have for an emo. Today, for example, i was bored in Russian and outlined the veins on my left and right arms with pen. I mean, sure, this is weird, but some kid saw it and said "so you're emo now?"

How does that characterize being emo? I just dont understand. It pisses me off....

HEEHEE! I like to write and draw stuff on myself... weird designs and patterns on my hands and wrists! Though a lot of people think it's... inappropriate.

I hate it too, MasterKey! I was REALLY bored in my classes so I got to work on this big mural on my hand. It went from my fingertips to my wrists;
I think I was asked 30 times: "Are you an emo?"
Title: Re:Emo's at your schoool
Post by: Bboy94 on May 10, 2007, 07:28:56 PM
I traced the Triforce on my hand once, and every time I got bored during class I traced it again. It lasted a good three days. :-* But I was asked so many times if I was emo. And one time if I was satanic.  :P

Satanic? For being emo? That doesn't make much sense.
I don't worship the devil (well, kind of), but I don't really believe in god that much. I'm Agnostic. My friend is an emo, and she doesn't cut herself. As for me, I'm goth.

I hate whiners. But that doesn't mean I hate emos. There are a lot of different types of emos. Some just dig the look (not my style except for the black, but I do think it looks quite nice sometimes) and part of the subculture.

Just because a lot of annoying people think it's cool to be emo, doesn't make being an emo bad. I know some emos (know more goths though) and none of them are annoying or anything. In fact, I'm more pissed off by people's reactions on them. Emos can look quite cool, but every non-emo seems to have to stare at them for as long as possibly like they are from outer space or something. How about accepting some people are not like you?

No, satanic for having a Triforce on my hand.  ::)
I am agnostic. I sometimes think of a single god, sometimes of no god, and sometimes of Farore

Nope, that's actually the pentagram, which could be mistaken for a triforce with all the triangles. A pentagram looks like a star within a pentagon.

Hm... this turned to a matter of religion, I think. xD Which is funny, the emo stereotype has nothing to do with religion, that I know of.

There's like... two emo kids at my school. We're all going through the phase of being gangsta'. Except me and those emos, of course.

......no, I don't think they wish they were black.....white people who want to be black are called wiggas. They usually try to talk with slang and do actions that are often associated with black people.

XD They annoy me to death, very much so. They act like they grew up in the ghettos, and... well, I wasn't aware we HAD ghettos here. It's also slightly amusing that the few black kids at our school don't act "gangsta" at all.

It's the media and their stereotypes that make people see them this way...funny....while they throw fits about having to read Huck Finn because they say it's racist, they are letting the media convince them that all blacks wear bling and talk gangsta talk.....

I practically live in a ghetto... Well, a county that's basically one big ghetto. See, this county is about 50% black, poverty is pretty big and so is the crime rate, even though it's only a population of over 25000.

Bah, it's troubling just to use the bathroom because people will always be hanging around in there and smoking or just talking... and I REALLY don't wanna get in a fight with them...

I can't say I know what it's like to live like that, but my heart goes out to you.

And this is a reason why "wiggas" annoy me... they have this idea living in the ghetto is cool. It's not cool. It's scary and a tough, tough time.

Such things really aren't that weird. It simply means that you have no label, that you follow no stereotyped following.

Conformity... people make hypocrites of themselves when they claim that a certain group is nonconforming. It is the individual, not the group that is truly nonconformitive.
