Title: One of my "greatest" creations!
Post by: MagmarFire on June 05, 2007, 07:42:08 PM
I'm going to use ZV's advertising approaches and post here. Like he said, not as many people visit the Links section. :P

Anyway, for those of you who are RPG fans (you know who you are!), I've been working on a computer RPG for the past couple months, and I have a demo of it up. If you want to play it, you can upload the disk file here (http://www.mediafire.com/?1exvwnjxy1m); however, you're going to have to unzip the file to get the folders out. If you don't have unzipping software, you can download a free version here (http://www.download.com/7-Zip/3000-2250_4-10634921.html?tag=lst-0-1).

To unzip the folder, right-click it, go to 7-Zip, and then Extract Here. The files in the folder should pop up on the desktop (if you're going to upload the game itself, I recommend saving it on your desktop). Then click on the icon that looks like an orange gear, and you're ready to go!

If it works for you, tell me what you think! :)

Hmm, I'm not so sure that many people have 7-zip, so here's the link to download the install thingy.

http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

You want the one at the top.

Well, I included a free download for 7-Zip in the first post, but I guess your link is more noticeable. Thanks. :)

I started to download it, but... then my computer threw a virus scanning fit and stopped downloading everything at once.

... And it said it unplugged the internet. ... still here, though. XD

7-zip uses an entirely different compressing algorithm. It has a much tighter compression ratio than either RAR or ZIP. You should get 7-zip just for the sake of variety anyway.

Which were you downloading, 7-Zip or the demo?

And your antivirus software must have some nerve to sever an Internet connection. XD

Aw.  Sad face.

Anywho, is this the demo you showed me, or does it include the next part, MagmarFire?

Role-playing games. Zelda is a simple example of this kind of game.

............Rocket Propelled Grenade.

MagmarFire, why would you create something like that? ;)

I think I told you at the Hyrulian Phoenix, but I'll say it again for the rest of the members here. ;)

It is, indeed, the demo I showed you, but I updated it by attempting to fix the glitches on there, such as the glitch where you enter Mardin's house after exiting it and you can't move. I fixed that glitch, and I attempted to fix the trasformation glitches as well. I haven't tested it to see if it was fixed, but it wouldn't really affect gameplay if I fixed it or not.

I also added a bonus feature to the demo. When you go inside the Tree House in Bosa Village, use ENTER on one of the green plants on the ground, and you'll get a set of choices as to whether you want to go to the secret area or not. Say "yes," and you'll be teleported to the area. Here, you'll be able to fight a special boss I added in, as well as use a secret character. 75% of the time, it'll be a character that has a wider extent of magic, while 25% of the time, another character will appear.

The boss, however, is nigh-on impossible to beat. In a possible update of the demo, I need to see if I can fix that and add a consolation prize. In fact, I think I will in a future demo version. I'll also see if I can add more to it. ;)

You mean it stopped downloading? Sometimes that happens when I upload a file, so I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened when you download files. The only solution I have for that would be to try again, but you guys are probably already sick of trying, aren't you? :P

Or did you mean something else?
