Blank and I were talking earlier, and got on the subject of 3D classics. We loved the idea of a 3D Link to the Past, and wanted to run the idea by Nintendo. However, first, I'm going to zoom around the Zelda Community dropping polls on Zelda sites. And what better place to start, than my favorite Zelda site on the net, the Desert Colossus. So close your eyes, and picture the idea in your head. 3D Link to the past. It would be like Ocarina of Time (better graphics)! Start off waking up in bed, and you notice your uncle leaving with his sword in hand, thunder and lightining outside the window. Making your way to the majestic Hyrule Castle, and heading in the secret entrance. Fighting Ganon in the end, reliving the climactic battle in the Third dimension. Silver arrows, magic boomerang, Roc's Cape, and so many more awesome memories, along with bonus features! Please leave a vote and comments. If this gets good reviews, and all goes according to hopes and dreams, this could be the next big talk in the Nintendo HQ!
I think it would be a great idea! As long as they kept the music, I'd love it.
I'd buy it. Link to the Past is probably my favorite Zelda game.
Yeah, they would have to use orchastrated music of the original music, but it would still rock! Should link have purple hair? :-X
That was probably just a sprite glitch or something. XD
But I'm all for the idea myself. I already have a picture of a 3D Aghanim (sp?) battle in my head. I would also like new puzzles to be in it, and I want it to be about as hard as the original. Then just add a little spice, and you've got yourself an excellent remake! :D
It would probably be cool if they still added the Blade Beam attack when your Life Energy's full and you have the Master Sword. ;)
Of course! ALttP Link is a rebel! :P
It's a great idea, it would be interesting to see how they implement the Pegasus Boots in 3D...this would be the first time that item has been outside of a 2D game, but it's been in every single 2D one...
This time, they could have the bosses' name and a descriptive title at the beginning of the fight! :D
Hmm...I could have fun with some of their descriptive titles...ooh, idea for filler comic!
glad I could help :)
And we're going to drop this on a few of TDC's affiliates before taking the idea to nintendo.
I like the idea, though I haven't actually played through the game. -cough-
3-D roc's cape and pegasus boots, though? Mmm... yes.
No, better yet: MEDALLIONS!!! Just imagine the beauty of the destructive power that those would release when used! :D
I love the old Zelda games, its just the graphics that get me mad. I think I got spoiled by Twilight Princess but I love the idea! :D
I may be a little rusty, but I thought that Roc's cape wasn't in Link to the Past.
And MagmarFire, the Medallions will be freakin sweet. Especially Bombos.
I think he meant the Magic Cape, which turns the wearer invisible for a time. Silly ZV ^_^
It's a long shot idea, knowing the big N's history of accepting fan ideas like these (anyone else remember the countless Mario RPG remake petitions?). But we've agreed that it's worth the shot, no matter how miserably we fail :P
So far, feedback has been mixed at EDN's Forbidden Woods. Everyone basically thinks it's be sweet. The problem they find is that Nintendo could potentially screw it up. Either by making it too easy, by adding in cheesy elements, or maybe even by not expanding on story well enough. There's a variety of things that could go wrong. Another problem some people find is that it could take away from the glory that ALttP managed to earn on the SNES.
Course, that's just EDN. We're going to drop the same poll off at affiliates around the community, and hopefully we can get a good amount of support up...
Which is where the problem is: Pitching the idea to Nintendo. Can't very well just email ole Reggie and ask for a remake; we'd get a form response along the lines of "We'll Consider It! ^^" to which we say "Shoot..." and forget the matter. We don't want that.
But we can worry about the pitch later. For now let's just rally up the support! ;D
There you go! Thats the spirit we need! And yeah, I meant the Magic Cape, the one thats under the tombstone. Have you emailed archaic_sage yet?
I really like the idea, but there are two problems:
A) Some of the puzzles won't be able to be remade in a 3D game.
B) I doubt that Nintendo would accept this, but hopefully they will.
I suppose they could edit it a little.
We shouldn't send it in a letter like that, otherwise we will receive that form-letter thing...we need to do something....bigger...get a huge thing going on the internet so that they'll have to notice it....!!!....Got it! Videos on Youtube to rally support! YouTube is huge!
If everything else doesn't work, we could also try making a 3D version ourselves. Of course, we'd probably see a lawsuit a few weeks after the release. :-*
Like with ye olde Chrono Trigger. Now THAT'S a game they should remake in 3-D. But then again,m Square has a habit of abandoning old legendary franchises and being a Final Fantasy whore.

Of course. We've already taken this into account. One of the members at ExplodingDekunut stated that we would need different puzzles. Of course, if the puzzles were the same, it would be the EXACT same thing, providing less entertainment than it has the potential to.

Thats a wonderful idea! make a youtube video rallying support!! Do we have a good artist at the site? We could use a sketch of what aLttP would look like in a 3D perspective. He/She could draw the hearts in the top left and corner, the magic bar under it, and the number of rupees in the bottom right. Of course, you would see Link's back, but in front of him, would be a scene of dead trees, and a few of those Cyclops's. It would be a portrayel of the DarkWorld. It would be even cooler of Link had the Magic Mirror set to (C).
Now I don't think this would be a very good game if you had to use the Wii Mote. It would seem to new. I would suggest that (just like in Super Smash Bros Brawl) the GameCube controller would be compatable for the game. That would definately make it easier, in my opinion. This is a big project, that will require LOTS of pre-prepared ideas and suggestions before Nintendo will take it seriously. I wish Jack, or TML were here... They would have the wisdom of what to do to get Nintendo to take us seriously. But I think Shika has a good idea here. If we can make a good enough video, we can rally people up! nintendo will surely notice us after such an uproar in the community! ;D
Or perhaps you could have it that you have the option of either the Wiimote or the GameCube controller. You know, kind of like what they're doing with Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Another idea. Nintendo probably won't want to bother with the game if they see a lot of problems with development. So maybe in the video, we can solve the problems...
Mm... good artist? I'd like to think I'm good.
What do you think? (http://negativezerro.deviantart.com)
I'll draw it if you think I'm worthy. Sure, I never played the game, but I know how to draw magic bars, hearts, and Link. XD I'll just look up references.
The YouTube idea is great.
That would be a very good idea, Fisk. You'd be very good to draw 3-D examples of LTTP. Probably the best scenes to draw are:
Right in front of Ganon's tower in the Dark World.
Picking up or standing in front of Master Sword or going through Lost Woods.
Inside Link's House.
Kakariko Village.
Desert of Mystery.
Lake Hylia. (Light and Dark World Versions)
Pyramid of Power.
I say go for the Ganon's Tower one. The Dark World scenery added greatly to the affect. If you've played TP, just imagine a very large tower in the Twilight Realm.
We'd only have a lawsuit if we distributed it for money without Nintendo's permission. However, if we made it just for the site or in the case one of us makes it for ourself, then I don't think Nintendo can do much about it.
We could also directly state that we don't own Zelda, it is the property of Nintendo and Shigeru Miyamoto, blah blah.
It'd be like the 2-D OOT, except it's LTTP 3-D.
Mm, okay, I'll get started. It'll probably be traditional, you have no clue how much I suck at digital art. xD
I might just do all the scenes; I'll look up references on youtube & google. (yay for sites I can't stand anymore!)
And don't ask me or Dr. Rabies for programming help. The extent of our programming knowledge is writing a program asking you to enter numbers and stuff.
As for programming help... well, I'm afraid I'd be of little help, but I do know a bit of Java. I would've learned C++, but the teacher stopped short of C++. uwu
So... I have one year's worth of programming under my belt, so... yeah.
-heads off to draw-
WAIT WAIT WAIT...
Isn't this a bit ludicrous? Shouldn't we ask for help in... oh say, the OTHER parts of the fan community, like at EDN or Zelda Legends?
OMG, really. We never noticed. 8)
In case you haven't at all read the topic, JQ, we're going to try and get support from the other sites in the Zelda community.
If by asking for help, you mean programming and sketches? I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who'll volunteer for drawing sketches of it, and the more programming help, the better.
Though I don't mind if I don't have any help on the drawing part, Link's actually insanely fun to draw.
Hmm. I can actually make the videos if you guys would like. It may be a bit tedious since our camera can't record more than a few minutes at a time, but editing does wonders.
Anyways, we can call it ALttP(at3D)
A Link to the Past (and the 3rd Dimension)

How about
A Link to the Past: Re? Take the Square Enix approach. :P
lol. Ooh, how about Another Link to the Past?
How about A Link to the Past 3D. It's simple and to the point.
and extremely uncreative. Anyways...We need to come up with some problems and then ways to solve them.
Uh... Windows Movie Maker will help you out a lot, Shika. It's pretty simple to use. You don't have to use the camera... XD
I finished the concept sketches; they aren't finished, I was just hoping to put them up and see what you guys think. (The writing says: "Castle Catacombs w/Zelda," "Master Sword--Lost Woods," "Fight with generic enemy," & "Before the Adventure(at home)")
(By the way, I like the term "Another Link to the Past")
HA! In your face, Mags and Whocares!
Anyways, I know about Movie Maker. I'm saying that will help a lot, since I can only film small bits at a time.
The drawings look great...
Anyways, we need to come up with problems and questions that we will be asked about, and solutions.
Hmm... How come we haven't recruited anyone from the rest of the community?
Other people are doing that, aren't they? I'm just going to focus on this part and let Fisk focus on art and them on recruiting...
Excellent drawings, Fisk! The detail is great! I especially liked the first and third ones. :D
I may be alone on this one, but what if you had to utilize the motion sensitivity of the Wiimote to use the Boomerang, only to a greater extent than in TP? For instance, you'd get it out with B, hold down B and move the Wiimote around to aim, let go of B to lock the reticle's position on the screen, then whip the Wiimote toward it? The speed and distance of the Boomerang would vary with how quickly you flicked the Wiimote forward.
Pretty bad idea, huh? :P
I'm too confused to make any commentary :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X
That's the first time you ever used that smiley. :-[
I'll try to help any way I can. I'm not a member of any Zelda websites besides this one, but instead I'll try to tell Fisk very good scenes from the game to help with the drawings, and any other way I can help I will try my best.
JQ, you're DarkMimeGogo on other sites, aren't you? Can you try and rally support there?
I'll be replaying through LTTP so that I can get a better idea of the game.
Some of the bosses will be interesting...
The fight with the Desert Dungeon boss will have to be completely changed, there's no way that they can keep it like that for a 3D game. Same with the Hera's Tower Boss, the 6th Dark World Boss, and seventh dark world boss. And probably Ganon too.
We'll see if we can come up with ways.
Darkphantomime these days post-zeldablog. Heheheh... Not that Our little subrosia will be able to do anything.
UNLESS....
I were to write an article over there. But... I don't really feel too motivated to do so. What can I comment on? That our little group is planning for a 3-D remake? Heh... But I'd think it'd be a better idea to introduce a concept of sorts for Link to the Past, in order to garner some attention. But to do that, I'll need some help here. PM me to send me ideas on how I should approach this article.
(I've also got another article in the workings, but it's unrelated to this one... Related to that Toilet Hand from Majora's Mask, heheh...)
I have a strange feeling that post was supposed to mock us...... Look, unless you actually want to help out then I see no point of you posting here
Look on the previous page, mate. Shikamaru asked me if I went other places in the community and I'm just trying to spread the word around so we can get more talent involved.
I did read the previous page, but that post wasn't exactly very friendly, it seems you were mocking the idea....
*sighs*
It's better if we build up a huge campaign so we can get Nintendo to make it, rather than make it ourselves. They can EASILY shut us down because it's in THEIR copyright.
I'd prefer Nintendo make it. Just 'cause... well, my art's nothing compared to the official art. owo;; (from my standpoint, at least; everyone has their opinion of which art is best.)
I'll get to work on making the "screenshots" tonight. I might add more... I'm open to suggestions, PM me if you have any. (currently, I'm watching a speedrun (1:07:01) to get ideas.)
Guys, this sounds awesome... but I hate to break it to ya, it'll never happen. You see the banner in my sig? ZFGC. Its memebers try to make Zelda Fan Games(whether they actually do anything is another story) but if Nintendo would except a game idea from fans, there would have been an OoT2D a long, long time ago. Someone over there tried to make a LttP3D, yeah, that didn't work either.
Its a nice fantasy, but no matter how many fans you get, it won't happen.
How did they go about doing it though? I've never seen huge campains to make these.
:P Well go ahead and try, it'll never happen.
8)Can you please try to show at least a little support?
To be honest, I don't have the highest hopes for it, either. But I'm really just prepared for them to say no. It helps to actually rally up support and show Nintendo it wouldn't be a mistake to recreate it... it helps to try, in other words.
... Wow, I never thought I'd say that. But it's true; huge campaign > small group of people when it comes to getting things done.
Plus if we actually think it through instead of going;
"ZOMG!!1111!! Make uz a noo 3d ALTTP plz!!11!"
I plan on taking every problem presentable and solving it...which would mean a possible playthrough....gotta get Scotty some VC points...
If there is a petition, I'll type my name on it. ???
We could easily make up thousands of names then since there's no such thing as specific typing styles. A petition won't do it anyways, we can't FORCE them to make the game.
You CAN, however, rally support so they get the hint that it's a feasible and highly profitable thing to do.
And from what I remember, in the early stages of development, OoT was meant as a sort of 3-D remake to LttP. At least, that's the way it seems.
No, actually it wasn't. Thats just a rumor because of the way it ripped off LttP.
So....really, we need some possible problems with a 3D version.
Some boss battles will have to be rewritten, because it is impossible to recreate them for a 3D game.
Actually, it was supposed to be alot like LTTP. For example, the small ice cavern thing in Zora's Fountain was supposed to be the Ice Temple, and there would be an Ice Sage.
Yes, but I need specifics that I can analyze and solve.
The bosses don't necessarily have to be re-written; I do believe you said something about the desert boss being difficult to recreate in 3-D... and I may have the wrong boss, but Twinmold/Molgera seemed awfully familiar.
Hm... possible problems? I don't know... Sorry.
No, by that I meant they would have to re-write the battle so that it could be made in a 3-D game, as several bosses can't have the exact same battle strategy for a 3-D game.
I sincerly appreciate all this support. I knew I could count on TDC! Wonderful sketches Fisk, I couldn't ask for anymore than that! While you do have some good points Licky, I believe that the entire Zelda community can speak out and make it happen. I know Nintendo is a large corperation with little care for it's fan base; but money talks. In fact, it screams. If we cry out for it, then maybe, just maybe, Nintendo will take into account that this has been asked for in the past, and finally decide to experiment with the idea. All it takes in an experiment, a few screen shots, and a beta version before it will rally up all of Nintendo's faithful Zelda fans.
While I have yet to contact Archeic Sage(sp?), I will be heading back to EDN to see what became of the poll. After that, I'll head to the source. What am I talking about? You'll see. ::)
Uh oh, I'm sensing another sinister plot by ZV...will this involve a worldwide nuclear holocaust like last time? :P
Anyways, like I said, if we get everything organized and thoroughly planned instead of shouting "OMG!!! A 3D LTTP WOOD B SO KEWL!!!11!!! MAkES 1 PLZ!!11!!" We'll have a much better chance.
:P :P :P
Yeah, we don't want a noobish approach. I want to know what walls we'll hit, 5 miles before we crash into them, if you know what I mean. And no, no holocaust. (not if Nintendo behaves) :P

Like? I personally don't see any.
I need to replay it again to make sure I find every detail...that means getting Scotty a Wii Points card out of the goodness of my heart, and then forcing him to buy ALttP...
Details about the Boss Battles would be nice though.
I can't believe I only saw this topic just now... :P
Well, I did, a while back, start a topic about a 3-D AlttP in this here board, and, consiering it has always been my favorite zelda game, a 3-D release would be amazing... it has alkways been a drema of mine.
So, if I cna help in any way at all, (even though I am late) do tell.
let me help clarify:
Lanmola Boss Battle (http://youtube.com/watch?v=KTu7ZICF3Og)
Helmasaur Boss Battle (http://youtube.com/watch?v=B2alxUnZ_5g)
Trinexx Boss battle (http://youtube.com/watch?v=7q484YHVIeQ)
Arrghus Boss Battle (http://youtube.com/watch?v=MYussbp-Xd4)
Armos Knights (http://youtube.com/watch?v=yFxN3HwxWOs)
Mothula (http://youtube.com/watch?v=hcz9REuQBSU)
Moldorm Boss battle (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Udut3_tdYL8)
Kholdstare (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Dpk90nNblxg) (My bad, thanks Shika)
Agahnim fight (http://youtube.com/watch?v=8qBjV_P114A)
Blind battle (http://youtube.com/watch?v=4Z8V-GY66sE)
Ganon (http://youtube.com/watch?v=c0Z7fnw4GHQ)
God forbid (http://youtube.com/watch?v=xBqEoYAnpew)
I have gathered LttP boss battles so that we could point out what needs to be changed. While the bosses themselves should remain, we should make a few changes. Lets use the boss battle with the armos knights as our first example. Rather than just run up and hit them, we could throw a weak spot (the gem normally used for a weakspot on armos) and throw it in the back. Then, for the middle and final armos: wait until it crashes down, and hit the three weakspots on it's back. Now for our second example, lets use Blind. Rather than the hack and slash antic used on most bosses in old Zelda games, lets try this out. Run up, and swing your sword at it. It dodges out of the was by floating backwards. Swing at it until you back it into the central light and immoblize it. Thats when you strike!
You see, while the bosses themselves shouldn't be changed, they could use a tune up (like the game itself) to keep gamers interested, while still reliving their favorite LttP moments and bosses. I feel the same way about the music. It could use a tune up, but overall, it should remain the same classic theme we all know and love. Lets grab one more boss and make an example out of him. Who better than Lanmola? Lets take a look. The trio(aimlessly) pops out of the ground, and leaps around the sandy surface. Lets take lanmola from Majora's Mask for example. The back end is the weak spot, rather than the body in whole. When one of them leaps out, wait for them to burrow back into the sand, and jab at the tail while its exposed.
I hope you can all understand what I mean, because I'm being as clear as I possibly can. And as for you Pokekey... You will suffer a thousand deaths and be tormented after you die. well, better late than never I suppose! ^_^ Also, one more thing I would like to point out. I have not been able to contact Archeic Sage. My mail just won't go through. Could sombody deliver some mail for me?(http://zs.ffshrine.org/album/minish-cap/sprites/Postman.gif)
(pm me to take up the job)
Okay...so then...a list of boss battles...
Lanmola=Easily done, no real worries there
Helmasaur=No real problems here either, it will look much better in 3-D though since it can turn and be attacked from more than one direction...yeah, that should work. we could put in some short movies for when the helm is cracked..
Trinexx=Not many problems here either...this will be even more fun in 3D, and more challenging, since you'll be aiming the rod in third dimension. It would be like a FPS sort of.
Arrghus=No big worries, this will also be even better with 3D hookshot aiming.
Armos Knights=ZV's idea is great, put a few weak points in some spots and it could be a great challenge with their moving.
Mothula=This will need to be redone, we'll need to have it pulled down or have it attack somehow, because there's no way we can have it up in the air like that and hit it with normal sword strikes. Maybe hookshot it or use arrows. Or...we could have a few steps, and you can use an action command or something to leap off and tackle or knock down or stab the Boss so it comes down, then you strike it as it tries to take flight again.
Moldorm=No real problems, it can be tuned up a bit, but no big changes.
Kholdstare=ZV, you didn't post a good video for it, it's the same video as with the Moldorm. Anyways, I found a video, and it could be tuned up a bit as well, although there's no large problems.
Agahnim=Typical battle that can easily be put in 3D, we've had plenty of bosses like him. Maybe if we tuned it up, made it a bit more unique...
Blind=Once again, no real problems...
Ganon=This battle will be AMAZING in 3D. No real problems again, but WOW.
God Forbid= That can be for the more skilled players, maybe they can get a biggoron sword by beating him. :P
So feel free to watch the videos and post any ideas for improvements. I didn't think about improving them, just seeing if it could be changed to 3D.
I can get to the turtlerock dungeon fast enough, it was my first Zelda game and if I remember it I can do it fairly easily, I used to be able to get to the end of the first dungeon in 15 minutes
Puppet Ganon's third form in in Wind Waker is a Moldorm, so that's all they'd have to go by :)
And I'm glad you guys stopped the talk of making it yourself XD Honestly, there are too many fangame makers out there as it is. Rallying support for a real game is choice ^_^
Now, bear in mind that it was recently reported at TheHylia that Aonuma mentioned in an interview that he would like to make a Wind Waker game on the Wii. Whether that means remaking it for the Wii, or just mimicking its graphics and kiddy adventure style, it still brought on talk in the comments about a 3D LttP. Most of those comments were negative :-* We're not going to enjoy making a poll for this at TheHylia XD
Also, we're going to need a LOT of support.
The Desert Colossus
Exploding Deku Nut
Rauru's Return
TheHylia
Ganon's Tower
Zelda Dungeon
HTLOZ2
and many, many more. And especially...
Zentendo. That's the place to rally.
--Blank
I could try to set up a poll at a couple other forums that I'm a member of. One of them isn't that big, but the community is great; and the other one is huge. I think both would be good places to rally some support.
I'll see if I can do it right now.
I really need to get some problems though. Not just about bosses, but mechanics and items and events...all that jazz. Then I can make the video...
Blank, thank you for your support, that's great to have you with us. Yes, making it ourselves is a horrible idea, it would be slander just about...
So come on, people, recall some problems..
Mechanics... hm, the Windwaker engine is genius, I like being able to pick up enemy swords. Maybe they could elaborate on that and allow you to jump attack and spin attack with them; press a different button to drop it, perhaps the shield button, as most of them are rather large.
As for items... how exactly would the Pegasus boots work? Like, would you set them to the equipment screen similar to OOT, and press a certain button to run? Or just run much faster, having less control of acute directions?
I'm watching play-by-play speedruns, so I'll probably have better ideas later.

Yeah, they would have to use orchastrated music of the original music, but it would still rock! Should link have purple hair? :-X
Maybe just a tint...hey...maybe he's related to Vaati! :P ;D
Oh God...I'm sensing a fanfic now...
The WW engine would be a great idea, but I don't know if we'll be able to do that with this game...
So has anyone been playing through it?
The WW engine worked with TP, it would probably work with it.
I watched playthroughs, does that count? (and I'm so sorry I have yet to finish the sketches; I'm in serious lack of a brown pencil.)
Guys, remember when I said that I would go to two of the forums I'm a member of and ask about it? I got back some results...
The smaller forum was very positive with the whole thing, while the larger one was kind of mixed--some positive, some negative, few unsure. ???
What did the negative say?
For more detail, I'll just post the link to the thread (http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=38615).
I joined the forums to explain in more detail, hope that's okay..
They seem fairly pleased with it, the only people who said no was because they didn't see a need to, and thought we would mess with the story.
Yeah, it's okay; you don't really need to be an Aspie to join. There are NTs there, too. :P
Anyway, I think I'll view your reply and cross my fingers that they'll actually view that topic. After all, it was about maybe or week or two since someone posted there to bump it back up before I did today.
You know those monsters in the dark world that that block your path until you get the hammer? Could just use the Diglet modle from PKMN Battle Revolution.
I believe that would be copyright...I think they are stakes, aren't they?
Except they are alive. Also Nintendo owns Pokemon.
It just wouldn't fit, though. Pokemon in Hyrule?
Yoshi's okay, Pokermans... nope. Sorry, I can't see it... except in Super Smash Bros.
Yoshi, in Zelda? Well, there was the Yoshi Doll in LA, but that was an Easter Egg...and those posters in OoT..anyways...maybe that could be one of the extras we throw in...
That's what I was referring to. They also have Goomas, which are pretty much Goombas... and Pirahna Plants and Chain Chomps and the like, but... I just can't see a Pikachu or something. Maybe it's because Zelda and Mario go together more than Pokemon and Zelda.
They only used those in a dream, as well, which would make sense. He could dream of strange monsters.
Anyways, should we make his hair purple/pink like in the original?
I thought so too at first, but Chain Chomps are in FSA, as well.
I don't know, should you? It's not like that in the official art, is it? If it's not, then no, I would assume. Official art is more canon, in my opinion... they left off the shield/sword strap in OOT, after all.
...In the game though, he had different hair...I'm thinking we should probably keep that...
For his hair, you can probably stick to the Official Artwork ;D

EDIT: So, in other words, Link = blond. For the most part.
The only problem is that if we put the original on the same disc....hmm....What's wrong with him having pink hair though?
It's not that important, though. We'll just go with what Nintendo does.

Maybe because it's ridiculous? You seriously wouldn't mind if Link had pink hair?
As should be noted, the graphics of early SNES were somewhat limited, especially so in the color department. My guess is is that it was originally supposed to be brown, not blonde but it got went to sort of 'pinkish-purple' in order to make it look right. Remember people, the SNES can only support so many colors at one time (256 if I remember correctly).
So maybe we could compromise and give him brown then...
Why compromise when the official art already shows us what he looks like?

It just wouldn't fit, though. Pokemon in Hyrule?
I'm just saying the model would be very similar.
Yes, I suppose so. Just erase the facial features.
No, they have facial features too.
Re-make the facial features, probably.
I just can't see a dark world blockade with diglett faces.

Your question probably wasn't directed at me, but no, I wouldn't mind if Link had pink hair.
Please excuse the necro-post, but this is a serious update. Our camera broke, so we got a new one. And this one is digital. That means I can start making the videos to try and gain support.
Wait, videos? You plan to advertise the idea through video? ;)
I... will try to draw? I can record some stuff, too, I have a digicam myself. ^^;
Yes, I figured what better way to get the word out than through YouTube, you know? It seems like an easy way to introduce our ideas, like I could show screenies of Fisk's pictures or even print them off, that kinda thing.
Yes and no.
Alttp was a great game. I would like it if they made it in 3D. However, I would like it more if they made a new zelda rather than a remake.
It's not like if they did ths, they wouldn't make more Zelda.

No, but it would have them spend thier working on a game I'd already played rather than a new expirience. If they could make both a 3D Alttp and a new zelda at the same time I would be happy.
Well, I doubt they were completely finished with TP when they started working on PH.
I never did get those e-mails back, and thats why this thing never got off the ground. What more can we do? We tried appealing to the higher leaders in the Zelda community, and without some notable support, Nintendo wouldn't take us seriously.
Also, take a look at this:
The idea interests Aonuma! (http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2007/11/12/3d-link-to-the-past-interests-aonuma/1#c9734738)
ZV, with the amounts of fanmail they get, it would have to be VERY important for them to get it, and even then it would take forever. However, we've seen that he likes the idea, and maybe the best way to get their attention would be by actually getting something together, and getting actual support across teh intrawebz.
Yezz, how droll.
However, we've tried to do that already.
We'll have to get some actual drawings, and maybe even a small script for the opening scene.
I'll make some awesome cover art when someone makes the picture...
-cough-
About that...
Well, it turns out drawing sucks. It's not the whole, sketch out thing, it's just that... I have finals/midterms and I've got commission work.
Things that pay me money come before anything, I'm afraid.

You photoshop pro, you XD
Yes, I can completely understand that Fisk.
This would be cover art for the Wii now right?
Yeah, no one really makes 'Cube games anymore, so it's assumed it's for Wii.
So, what, would it have Twilight Princess mechanics, or would we use the Classic Controller/GCN Controller? There is a lot to go over, including the fact that bonus things would have to be added, or it could upset gamers. Of course, I'd be happy with just going through 3D Kakariko Village, what with the guards looking for you and everything. There would have to be a stealth system.
...spLINKer Cell, ZV?
Okay, sorry, I know that was horrible...
Anyways, I imagine it would run off the WW/TP combat engine, so that would be one way to add in extra features.
Fisk, I understand the whole picture thing. It's not vital anyways, but it would be tremendously helpful...It'll be harder to sway people without examples...Hmm...I COULD try some 3D rendering....

And I thought this was pretty cool (http://youtube.com/watch?v=94aFPuxOhbo&feature=RecentlyWatched&page=1&t=t&f=b).
It looks like it was just ripped off of Twilight Princess with a few style changes though. I couldn't help but notice the purple hair though... was it actually a sprite glitch?

Well, since the conceptual art of Link did not show purple hair, I would have to say that's a pretty safe bet.

Um... I guess... whatever. There's another topic on this board for this conundrum, let's not bring it up here.
I'd be happy to make whatever contributions I can to this project. If need arises, and someone makes enough sprites, I can program a decent game. :D

I MEANED FOR TEH DEMOZORS!!oneoneone!
Tacheon, could you actually do it in 3D?
If someone made the textures, yeah.
Alright, so what would these textures involve exactly? Give me an idea, and I may be able to pull it off.
Scenery, sprites for characters, enemies, weapons, etc.
Guys, if you want, I could see if I can promote this at some Zelda fan game sites. Though if you want a reaction at the very least you should get some art done.

Weapons would be easiest. I'm not the best with faces. Although I have made a guy before..

Aren't you guys lucky you have a ZV? I specialize in faces!! ;D
I can do bodies in a different style (I draw both Anime and Punk).
Can you draw TP-style though? And how can he make animations with drawings and not models?

That shouldn't matter. This is aLttP, not Twilight Princess. Gamers aren't looking for something new when they get A Link to the Past. They're looking for something new, but with a good "old" touch to it. Can you understand what I mean by that? Nostalgia doesn't come in new packages.
edit: Here's one of my punk drawings:
That's a sweet drawing, but the point is that I can't make a game, even a crappy one, with a drawing. It has to be a 3D computerized model. :P

Holy cow! That's a freaking awesome drawing! ZV, I'm impressed!
Say, Tacheon...I've watched this one YouTube video about this guy showing a recreation of various KHII actions on some kind of 3D program. I'm not sure what he said the program was called, but can you think of any program that can do that?

Which is what I was telling him. What kinds of files can you open? What programs do you have?
I think what you all need is a very, very stiff drink. That and a very strong dose of reality.
There's a lot that's not happening here and... wow. So many things we're at a loss to understand in how all that stuff is you know, created.

What program do I have to get to make you a 3D model?
I don't know if it would work, but you could try AutoCAD. Have you taken CAD classes, ZV?
Nothing's really gonna work because obviously none of you are programmers. There iss a LOT in the making of a game and... well, just look at what Bboy said some pages ago about these projects never getting off the ground.

How do you know I'm not a programmer, Mike?
And I've got CAD and know how to use it.

Its that kind of negativity that will drag us down. If you've got no ideas to bring to the table or no motivation for us, please don't post here. We don't want to be discouraged out of this. We can make the idea of a remake more and more animated. If we can make a good enough demo with good enough puzzles and characters, I think Nintendo might give this idea a second glance.
I drew a LttP style Link, complete with shield and sword, but I can't take a good enough picture of it with my cell phone. It would look real pixelated, and you won't be able to see much. I'll try taking a picture of the top half, a picture of the bottom half, and photoshoping them together (maybe cleaning it up in the process). If this idea works out, I can probably have a decent image up tonight.
Here's a 3D model I made months ago of a guy with sword and shield:
Of course it's not Link because I didn't make him to look like that, but he could be the starting point I guess, I need to tweak it of course. So I'll get to work on it in lunches and stuff, and then send the 3D model version to you, alright?
Huh. What did you use to make that, Shika?
I used Rhino. Been doing it for half a year or so. It's pretty fun stuff.
ALttP in 3D would be awesome! I would probably be for the Wii.
No, we were hoping it would be a crossover hit for the 360. :P
