Title: The "Did You Know?" of Majora's Mask.
Post by: Mysterious F. on June 22, 2007, 02:24:07 PM
Majora's Mask is full of secrets, surprises, and many interesting scenes. There are so many, in fact, that you might not know them all. Here, let's list all of the unknown parts of Majora's Mask that are still interesting:

DYK? Anju's Grandmother was once a teacher, and the teacher of the Mayor of Clock Town.

DYK? Anju's mother apparently dislikes Kafei, and she believes that Kafei is hiding with Cremia.

DYK? Anju's farther and her granny's son, Tortus, ran away from Anju's Mother much like Kafei supposedly did.

DYK? If you have the Room Key in the Stock Pot Inn, go into the room the key opens at 9-10 PM of the secnod day and use Tatl to check the hole in the wall and hear a very interesting conversation.

DYK? Kafei was once a member of the bombers.

DYK? As a child, Kafei was apparently a friend of the Curiostiy Shop Owner.

DYK? One of the capreners has a crush on Anju and hates Kafei for that very reason.

DYK? The Head Carpenter (Mutoh) does believe the moon will fall.

DYK? Everyone in Clock Town knows about the Kafei search, and about half of the remaining citizens know something about his case.

DYK? Time doesn't flow inside the Clock Tower.

DYK? Dogs hate Deku scrubs and will attack them. The at first growl at Gorons, but when you get too close the cower in fear. Dogs will also follow a Zora at first sight.

DYK? In Ikana Canyon, if you go into the river and go west, you'll find a cave where you can fight the mini-bosses again, if you have enough heart containers that is.

DYK? The Gorman Troupe act for the Carnival of Time was cancelled.

DYK? Sakon the Thief is the only normal human who Link can kill in the entire series.

DYK? If you don't rescue the Old Lady from the Bomb Shop from Sakon on the First Night, then on the Last Night the Curiosity Shop will sell the Stolen Bomb Bags.

DYK? The only Zora who doesn't think Zora Link is Mikau is the Indi-go-Gos' manager, Toto.

DYK? It is highly possible the=at Deku Link is the reincarnation of the Deku Butler's dead son. At the beginning of the game, the dead tree thing you find in the tunnel to the Clock Tower is in fact the Deku Butler's Son. During the end credits, the Deku Butler is seen crying in front of his dead son's remains.

DYK? Kafei is the first character the player can control besidess Link EVER. The only other characters are Medli, Makar, Tower of the God Statues, Seagulls, and the famous and cute animal the Cucco.

Kafie and the Cucco aren't the only ones. In WW you can control Medli, Makar a various statues with the command melody.

Dogs also don't growl at Zoras and then cower in fear when you get close.  The dog only does that when Link is a Goron.

You can also control seagulls. (Zelda games enjoy controlling birds/bird people.)

And... well, if you play the game a lot, you can figure this stuff out.

DYK? If you go into Clock Town's training hut thing after Midnight of the Final Day, then you will find the owner has left. If you climb on top of the really large step thing and cut the wood with Japanese letters, then you'll see him cowering next to some boxes.

It was never really needed though.

You only needed it 2 times. Once when opening the figurine gallary and once when getting the triforce chart from Star Belt Appeggio. I just used the bow both times.

First off, that's not true.

Second off, this is an MM thread.  If you want to start a "The "Did You Know?" of OoT." thread, then be my guest, but let's stay on-topic.

DYK:  If you return to Snowhead (Snowpeak, whatever) after you defeat Goht in that same cycle, then you will see the Big Goron, who gives you a very heartfelt apology.

DYK:  It is possible to have link dance in time with the Rosa sisters.

DYK:  You cannot clearly discern the nature of the Great Bay Temple's exterior.  Ever.  The most likely thing it resembles is a giant pike.

DYK:  The Fierce Deity can be used in parts of Ikana and Termina Field, but not without exploiting major glitches in the game.  Learn2Youtube.

DYK:  The music for the Zant fights in Twilight Princess was inspired (or something) by the fight music for Majora's Incarnation.

DYK:  Technically, according to Timeline Theoretists everywhere, Majora's Mask doesn't fit into the Zelda continuum, and therefore doesn't exist.  It it speculated to be merely a journey into Link's mind, a psychedelic trip if you will.

But, they're not sure which timeline it should go into.  Look at the timeline section on ZU, there's a lot of debate about it there.

It would have to be the child, wouldn't it? The adult one has him doing something until he becomes an adult, it pretty much describes a seven year period...

Did you know that if you go to the Stock Pot Inn as Zora Link, you can climb up to the top shelf behind the counter?  You can then jump on top of the counter from there.

Also, if you ram into a wall where a cow statue is, the heads will move.

DYK you can fool Igos into thinking you're Keeta by wearing the captain's hat?
DYK you can make both of Igos' henchmen march by using the Circus Leader Mask?
DYK the only place that seems to be unaffected by your constant time shifting is the bank?
This I think lots people know, but you can make the Redeads dance by wearing any mask representing an undead monster?

For your first one, only for a little while, but it's still funny.  For the second one, the Circus Leader's Mask?  Or do you mean the Bremen Mask?  Because I definitely know it works with the Bremen Mask, having just recently learned the Elegy of Emptiness.  And for the dancing Redeads, Garo's Mask and Kamaro's Mask as well?  They're both kind of dead.

Five words:  Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

I had a "Did you know" moment the other day, but my Internet wasn't working again, and I forgot to write it down, so I forgot what my latest discovery was.  Sad face. :'(

EDIT:  Huzzah!  I remembered what I was going to say!

Did you know you can see the constellations the Big Dipper and Orion at night?  However, as far as I can tell, the Big Dipper doesn't help you find north.

EDIT 2:  If you wear the Bunny Hood as you play the Postman's game, the timer remains on the screen (note that this doesn't necessarily make the mini-game any easier to play).

Are you sure of that? If you don't have it on, the timer seems to show hundredths of a second, whereas the bunny hood seems to increase the tolerance to only tenths of a second. Or is it the other way around?

Actually, I'm not sure if that changes how the game looks at your response, but...it's possible that it might.

It's been a long while since I've played it without the Bunny Hood on, so I don't know about that.  It could also be that my timing just sucks. :P

Did you know that you can make Sakon explode by shooting him when he steals the bomb bag?

Also, the Postman's minigame is easier in half-time than at normal time.

ALSO, Goht runs slightly slower in half-time.

Did you know Jappas (of the Indigo-Gos) is playing the Underworld theme from the first Zelda game when you enter his room?

Did you know that-

1. The bird flying around the Clock Town walls will drop rupees if you play a little music for it?

2. You can see Kafei's face early in the game? If you walk out of the clock tower on the Dawn of the First day, he will be walking out to get his mail. Slow down time, and then walk up the stairs and get right in his way. He'll walk into you, and begin pushing you back, and you can see right through his mask.

I wanted to say thank you earlier, but I didn't think it would be wise to waste a single post on it.

I hope you don't take that the wrong way. ;)

Anywho, when you play the Elegy of Emptiness as a Goron, the resulting statue has a large scar on the Goron's stomach.  Perhaps it's from a wound Darmani got a long time before Link came to Termina?  Or perhaps it's more recent?  Even for a Goron, it's hard to imagine someone surviving a cut that big in a setting like Hyrule/Termina.
Title: Re:The "Did You Know?" of Majora's Mask.

I'm pretty sure Darmani's ghost also had that scar.

Mikau's 'empty soldier' also has a lot of tattoos that are not present on Link.

They are probably in the form of the being that used to be the mask (the Deku Butler's son, Darmani, and Mikau) rather than Link's form while wearing the masks. Darmani probably got the scar while dying (it might be a wound, instead). Mikau had a lot of tattoos when you saved him.

Did you know that the guitar you play in Zora form in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is actually a real guitar? It was or is made by Jackson Guitars, but good luck finding one. According to what I've read, there's only 7 in the world. Here's a picture, just in case you forgot what it looked like (This is the real guitar, not the one from the game):

...they actually made those guitars specifically for a contest for Majora's Mask.  It was one of those 'special offers' scraps of paper that you get inside the N64 box.

Also, there was a competition to get a Nintendo sanctioned mask-- either the Zora's, Goron's, Deku, or Majora's Mask.

I would've wanted Majora's Mask, personally.

Well, a lot of the ones are just pillars, but if you really want to Freudify the game they can be perverted into phalli.

Here-- there are a lot of phallic references in Nintendo games.  Take this overhead shot in Banjo Tooie:
