My sister and I were arguing over what it is that Vaati has on his cheeks. I say high cheekbones, and she says wrinkles. What do you guys think?

I told my sisters and my cousin that it could be a scar, and they're like "Then it would make him look like a wimp because he can't fight back" >.< Bull! They just do it to annoy me.  :-*

That's exactly what I thought.  Either that or I think it's a scar.  But in the manga for The Minish Cap he has the mark under both eyes.  

That's why I now think they're just marks that he put on himself. I guess it is physically possible, but I don't know why Vaati would have two semetrical scars on both cheeks. (shrugs)

It's make-up

I think its make up. It just flows with his character.

Okay. I'm going with the theory of makeup. I even made a poll on Quizilla on this same topic and it's been sitting for about a year-ish. It's makeup.  The other Minish kids would never play games with him as a child, and when he was in high school, he joined the drama department.

Then, a few years after college, his girlfriend left him-- for another girl.  He's been goth ever since.

But in all seriousness, I'm now convinced that it's make-up. ;)

They could be bags under his eyes from not getting enough sleep.

They're more on his cheeks, well there's always the possibility of being a super insomniac.  ;D

Oh I just noticed this: that the markings off the fan art that Vaati posted reminds me of deity link's face tatoo things. I doubt that they are related but its a thought.  :D
