Title: Comedians, anyone?
Post by: MasterKeyX on July 16, 2007, 06:48:00 AM
Does anybody on this forum listen to soime good comedians? Or do you even listen to comedy at all? I was curious of what the Desert would have to say on this, so I started a topic about it for us to discuss comedy in general...

Begin discussion!

I like Dane Cook, he's really funny. I first hear him when my friend had some of his acts recorded on her iPod. I like the one with the Kool-Aid man. (Busts through wall) "Oh yeah!" "Oh no! You better fix that wall! My dad's going to be home in ten minutes, do you really think he's going to believe a giant pitcher a Kool-Aid came bursting through it?!" "Oh yeah!" "Oh no!" "...Oh yeah?" "No!" ;D

Yeah, I've heard Dane Cook. He's a riot! But I have also listened to an old comewdian by the name of George Carlin. He is so freakin' funny. I couldnt breathe when I was watching him on the computer a few days back.

demetri martin is pretty funny, but dane cook is overrated, i listened to his cd once, didn't even laugh at all.

Now here is a VERY short list of my personal favorites:

Demetri Martin
Bill Engvall

"What's the deal with comedians?"

Dane Cook is indeed overrated. Not funny at all. Most modern comedians are terrible. Except of course Jim Gaffigan. Jim Gaffigan r0xX0rZ mah b0xX0rZ.

"Hot Pockets!"

"Hey he's a pale fella...."

"Warning you just brought hot pockets!"

Ha, I like how he changes his voice to make it funnier than usual.

You know, they actually put a warning on Hot Pockets?  It says:

WARNING YOU JUST BOUGHT HOT POCKETS.  Hope you're heading home to a trailer.  You hillbilly, enjoy the next NASCAR event.

That guy's a jerk, I like NASCAR.

Mwah, British comedians are the best especially:

Bill Bailey
Marcus Brigstock ( Giles Webley-Hogg!)
Tony Hawks (Yeah, not the skater, the comedian)
Jimmy Carr
Simon Amstead
Phil Jupiter

My favourite comedy programmes are on Radio 4:

The News Quiz
Just A Minute
Giles Wembley Hogg
Milton Jones
I'm sorry I haven't A Clue

And on the TV:

Never Mind The Buzzcocks
Have I Got news For You
Mock The Week
Eight Out Of Ten Cats

Oh and while we're on comedy, RIP Bernard Manning, I was never a fan but still he shaped Britains comedy history.

I remember watching an old episode of Comedy Central presents, and I enjoyed some of what Dane Cook did. Not all of it, just... some. Then again, a lot of funny things last year aren't funny anymore.

I also like Carlos Mencia, Dave Chappele, and... yeah, lots. XD;

I watch Carlo Mencia sometimes.  Pretty funny guy.

I like Jeff Foxworthy.
"If your porch collapses, and more than three dogs die, you might be redneck!"

Does WKUK count as comedians? I loved the whole "Hunter against banning guns sketch" (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ARMoJ-9G68k) :P

Quote"Alright, Mr.Braunum, you are against the banning of the armor piercing Death Master. This gun can shoot through bullet proof vests, and Kevlar, the #1 cause of police fatalities last year."

"You know four years ago, it was only #7, its the fastest growing gun on the market, its amazing!"

"Frightening. Frightening Mr. Braunum, why do hunters need to be shooting through bullet proof vests?"

"........................... really?..... do I need to spell this out?... Say a bunch of punk kids go out into the woods with a bullet proof vest, and they strap it on a grizzly bear. Then what do you got? Invincible bears."

"......................."

Is that what you want? Invincible bears runnin around, raping your churches, burning you women? Help us! Someone get all these bears outta here! Stop these invincible bears! I'm sorry, we threw our special guns away!"

"Everyone knows you can smush a bear by throwing a giant boulder on it!"

"Well what if you people make giant boulders illegal, because of all the innocent people getting killed by giant boulders"

"People don't kill people with giant boulders!"

"They will if you take away their assault rifles.

"...."

I like Jeff Foxworthy too! "If you cut your grass and find your car, you might be a redneck!"
We had some Jeff Foxworthy beef jerky in our van while we were on vacation, and I couldn't stop staring at it because I WANTED SOME!!!  :D

Here's a couple more Jeff Foxworthy redneck jokes:
"You might be redneck if you gunrack has a gunrack on it!"
"If you ever get your nipple bitten off by a beaver, you might be a redneck!"

Also, TWKUK is hilarious! My favorite is this one:

I can't watch videos. Because it takes too long to load. But I remember "The best thing to know if you're ever confronted by a beaver, is 'don't poke at it with sticks'."

I like Dave Chapelle too. (spelling?)

I really like Bill Engvall. He's hilarious because he doesn't rely on a catchphrase to make his money, like Larry the Cable Guy. Don't get me wrong, Larry's funny, just not as funny as Bill. No way.

How about the short comedy skit that Craig Ferguson does at night? I find it to be somewhat amusing, at times...

I like Brian Posehn and Neil Hamburger. They're hilarious.

I don't think I can repeat any of Neil Hamburger's jokes here, though. Besides, it's not about the jokes, it's about making the audience mad and uncomfortable. I like the way he just coughs really loudly over hecklers. I wish I could have seen him opening for Tenacious D this year (also I wish I could have seen Tenacious D).

Who Neil Hamburger? I've never actually heard of him.
