Title: top 10 favorite games
Post by: MatthewThief on July 18, 2007, 01:00:41 PM
this is always fun to do because my favorite games always change  :) . i'll post mine but i have to think about all of them first..

10.) Ocarina of Time - This was the first Zelda game I won  :)

9.) Legend of Zelda - First Zelda game I played.. but NES broke and I couldn't finish it. We got it on GBA and then I won it.

8.) Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance - Not the best FE game but it was pretty good.

7.) Soul Calibur III - There both cool but SCIII has better graphics and Siegfried is good in it ^_^ .

6.) Final Fantasy VII- Dirge of Ceribus - Is a cool game, Vincents cool so.. Interesting plot too.

5.) Oracle of Seasons - This was a cool game. I really liked the Subrosian's, their cute.

4.) Fire Emblem 6 : Fuuin no Tsurugi - This is a jappanese only FE for GBA. My Mom bought it for me, had it imported and I looked at the translation online. Its a really good game.

3.) Final Fantasy V - My favorite characters were Galuf and Gilgamesh  :( . Plus Neo- Exdeath was so creepy looking  :o .

2.) Final Fantasy X - Interesting game with a really intense plot. Plus Tidus is in it ^_^ .

1.) Fire Emblem 7 : Blazing Sword - My most favorite game, FE7. Such a interesting plot. I have won it like 0 times and I still haven't got bored with it.

Most definatley. I only got the first one on my birthday in May, because it seems kinda wierd, a lawyer video game. But its awesome, its witty and funny, and very suprising. You can generally tell who the murderer was (it's always murder cases) but there are such plot twists you start doubting yourself until there is an even bigger plot twist, only to start doubting yourself again later. I would give it an 8/10. Because the detective parts can get tiring, and because a couple of times you coul see a clearer contradiction than the one the game wants. There should be some good reason the judge sees no contradiction instead of just saying that you're wrong. But yeah, its really worth the money. I thought I might regret getting the game despite the reviews, but it is a great game.

no order:

God of War 2
Devil May Cry 3
Metal Gear Solid 3
Guitar Hero 2
FFVII
Lunar Silver Star Stories(or legend, same game)
Twilight Princess
Metroid Prime 2: echoes
Fire Emblem: Path Of Radiance
Timesplitters 3: Future Perfect
Title: Re:top 10 favorite games

I discovered that Lunar Legend was translated by a different company (ubi soft) than the original Lunar (Working Designs)... SO the original had a LOT of ahem... liberties in the dialogue and a LOT of pop culture references.

Hmm... in no particular order:

1. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
2. Kirby and the Crystal Shards
3. Metroid Prime
4. Super Smash Bros.
5. Super Smash Bros. Melee
6. Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2
7. Soul Calibur 2
8. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
9. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
10: Mario Cart: Double Dash

I have too many games to list, so I'll leave you all with that.

Game #1: Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Platform(s): Nintendo 64
Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask was a game that frustrated me when I was younger. I couldn't grasp the concept of time travel, and it annoyed me that every time the third night would roll around, the moon would crash, and destroy all humanity in a lunar holocaust....
But as I grew older, I discarded my N64, and bought a GameCube. It wasn't until then that I bought the Legend of Zelda Collectors edition. I played Majora's Mask, and instantly fell in love with it. The magical world it drops you in captivated me, and took me places I didn't think I could go. Ikana Castle was definitely my favorite place. The Garo spoke of Ikana's bloody past, and it had dead things everywhere. Definitely cool! The use of the masks was great, and I love being a Zora. The Goron roll pwns all, and Deku link just sucks XD

Game #2: Kirby and the Crystal Shards
Platform(s): Nintendo 64
This was perhaps the first Kirby game that I actually liked. A classic side scroller that also used it's 3D ware perfectly in line with it. Mixing and matching abilities was great! I could become a Thunder Boomerang wielding puff ball with no remorse! It was great game, and I'm thinking about renting it again, considering I found my N64 recently

Game #3: Metroid Prime
Platform(s): Nintendo GameCube
The best thing about Metroid Prime, is that it was the first Metroid game I ever played. (accepts abuse). I know, I know, crazy. But when I played it, I loved it. Another great thing about it, is that I got to experience it with my friend Sam, who gets so pissed when he loses that he'll go on a rampage down the street. lol! That was the greatest! And the game had stunning graphics, and the system really utilized everything it was capable of in this game. It was like a futuristic Zelda to me, which was just begging to be played.

Game #4:Super Smash Bros.
Platform(s): Nintendo 64
Super Smash Bros. was GREAT! It was the first fighting game that I ever played, and I still find myself playing it again and again.

Game #5: Super Smash Bros. Melee
Platform(s): Nintendo GameCube
Now THIS was an incredible sequel. Not only did it nearly triple the first's character selection, but it tripled up on levels as well! The play modes were great, and my favorite characters were: Marth, Fox, Falco, and Link.   (I can only expect more out of brawl) :)

Game #6: Naruto Clash of Ninja 2
Platform(s): Nintendo GameCube (Sony PS2 ?)
This game also tripled in character selection and levels! Not only did it include a nearly endless string of game play modes, but it also brought forth a farther storyline, one which carried us all the way to the climactic "Gaara VS Naruto fight!"

Game #7: Soul Calibur 2
Platform(s): Nintendo GameCube/Sony playstation2/ Microsoft Xbox
Soul Calibur offered a unique character for each of its featured systems. GameCube = Link
Playstation = Old dude from Tekken
X Box = Spawn
This is a long and challenging game, offering Weapon Master as its main mode. Each section offers a new shop with new weapons to buy, as you make your way across the map journeying to destroy Soul Edge, the evil blade that drives men mad.

Game #8: Fire Emblem Path of Radiance
Platform(s): GameCube
I regret renting this game. I should have bought it. It was an incredible game with gorgeous cinematics, and offered the classic style of tactical fighting that Fire Emblem is so well known for. I really do regret not buying this game. Journey as Ike through a vast land, collecting soldiers on your way.

Game #9: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Platform: Nintendo 64
A classic. A masterpiece. An adventure. Nothing short of an incredible spectacle of gaming. This is what started it for me. The first Zelda game I ever played, and loved it to no end. Still do. This opened up new worlds of gaming for me, and ever since I played Zelda the first time, I never stoped.

Game #10: Mario Cart: Double Dash
Platform(s) Nintendo GameCube
Last, but certainly not least, Mario Cart Double dash raced its way to my top 10. This, much like Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, is a game I regret not buying. I loved the partner feature, and it brought a new level of racing to the table.

3.Phantasy Star Online

In no particular order:

1. Jump! Ultimate Stars Not being able to read Japanese sucks but it's still a great game and 300 + characters is always a bonus.
2. Ocarina Of Time I love it so much, it's my favourite Zelda game.
3. Animal Crossing: Wild World A nice escape from reality!
4. Fable: The Lost Chapters It's awesome, but however many times I play through it I have never been evil.
5. Black and White I couldn't be evil in this either, I'm such a wimp.
6. Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft I loved all of the first 4 games, but this was my favourite, The Desert Eagle = Love!
7. Harvest Moon: FOMT So cute, I got bored after 5 years though.
8. Tomb Raider II: Starring Lara Croft Yeah my second favourite TR game, but they're all so great. The opening cinematic with the monks scared the hell outa me when I first played it at the tender age of about 6.
9. Naruto: Shinobi Retsuden Yeah, again negotiating japanese menus is a pain and the character selection is small, but it's addicting!
10. Dance Stage: Euromix For the PS1! I lost the disc though, so now my dancing is restricted to ferries. Great game anyway, uber fun with friends!

In no particular order, since they are all great.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
The Legend of Zelda: The Adventure of Link
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (am guiding my younger sister through it now.)
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Both SSBs.
Mario RPGs
Skies of Arcadia (Legends) (I want a prequel!)
Phantasy Star Online (eps 1-3)
(Both) Golden Sun(s)
Grim Fandango
(Both) Syberia(s)
Broken Sword series
Monkey Island series
Lost in Blue
Metroid Prime & Fusion
Project Rub
Wario Ware series
Another Code: Two Memories
Runaway
Gabriel Knight 3 (I haven't been able to get my hands on the other two yet)
RAMA (the game responsible for some very important parts of my personality)
LBA & LBA 2
Blade Runner
Ninja Gaiden

* Okay, so I can't actually add Tingle RPG to the list yet, but I think I'm really gonna like this game, so....

10 Banjo-Kazooie
Good humor and all characters talk.
9Banjo-Tooie
Everything from the 1st comes back, but everything better, except the myster of what happened to Banjos sister.
8 Siege of Avavlon.
Big world, with excellent story and tons of weapons and spells to kill monsters with.
7Age of Mythologly: The Titons.
Really good RTS, with excellent hiding places.
6Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
Many memorable scenes, really hard final boss, but the ending has people coming back from the dead and deep space.
5Baten Kaitos Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean
Some really great characters, imaginitive world, very well done ending.
4Zelda Twilight Princess
Not the best Zelda, but still very good, main drawbacks  are the inclusion of Ganon, and Link seems very unimportant.
3Tales of Symphonia
I love everything about this game, except a couple characters. One of the best stories ever.
2Zelda Majora's Mask
My fav Zelda, it did everything right, and had a rally cool gameover.
1 Baten Kaitos Origins.
Has a truly moving soundtrack, and every character has something memorable about them, and the acting is superb.

This list is gonna change when I get to play Final Fantasy X and the .hack//G.U. trilogy.

Speaking of .hack// G.U., I love that game series as well, though I've only played half of the first one. u_u And Trauma Center. <3

Trauma Center! I love that game! One of the best DS games ever, I think, and the best I've ever played.  It gets really difficult, but you feel such a sense of accomplishment when you get past a difficult operation! It's definitely in my top ten.

Unless you're talking about the Wii version, of course, which I haven't played, but it's still probably awesome.

Anyways, I'd need to think about it, but I'll try to assemble a top ten list of my favorite games.

I've played both, but I'm currently playing the Wii version. I felt terrible putting that artificial valve in that little girl's heart... it just really gets to you, I guess, Trauma Center... you operate on your friends, little kids... and GUILT is just a great enemy. It's so unique and... I'm rambling, I'm sorry. u_u

Yeah, it's really tough sometimes, isn't it? I know it's only a game, but it really draws you into it. It gets so intense at times, and sometimes I get really mad at myself if I mess up. But I suppose that's the mark of a good game...

My friend once got so mad at a game, that he ripped the disc out of his PS2 through it out of the window and smashed the controller on the floor so it splintered into pieces. ^__^

I've kept £30 aside so that when PH comes out I can definitely get it, I cant wait for that game.

Yeah, I've felt like snapping my NES controller in half because Zelda was really getting me hacked off. Stupid Darknuts! However, I've suppressed the urge to do so, because I love my NES too much to do something like that. Besides, I'm not sure how much replacement controllers cost.

I don't get angry at games, really... though I was frustrated at the dumb GUILT strains in Trauma Center. D: Friggin' Triti... it's not hard to figure out the pattern, just irritating when they respawn at the incorrect time.

Oh, and that one time in Paper Mario two... with the final boss... took a few tries but I killed her. (the first time I unfortunately said "yes, I'll join your army!" and then it was an immediate game over.)

Oh, man, don't even get me started on Triti! That stupid thing has caused me so much anger... When it looks like I've got it defeated, it respawns and either my time runs out, or the patient's vitals drop! It almost makes me want to scream. That's when I turn off my DS and go do something else.
Title: Re:top 10 favorite games

Ugh, I know! I mean, you only encounter it a few times in the game, but... it's so frustrating!

I mean, yes, you make sure any two thorns aren't supposed to be connected, but... gah! One thorn ALWAYS respawns AS I pick up the membrane, so they spawn another membrane.. u_u and then there's the times when there's only two left, so you pick out all the thorns, then you move one membrane, then bam! One thorn respawns and there's five more membranes...

Triti is the only reason I want to destroy Delphi... I mean, I get what they're getting at, people live too long and stuff, but... they deserve to be shut down just for creating Triti. :(

... And for the whole "let's transplant a kidney... with respawning tumors! 8D" thing. Ugh. -shudders-

Top Five Favourite Games and Reasons:

5. Paper Mario

I loved the original the most... I liked the star power idea, and the ability to play as Peach. I simple adored baking that cake for Gourmet Guy, and the entire ToyBox level and Yoshi's Island. Kooper was my favourite partner, he was just so awesome!

4. Silent Hill I

This game was short, but creepy as hell. ^^ the way everything just sort of... fell together made me feel good inside, I don't know why. It kept me rather... edgy throughout the entire game, which doesn't take that long to beat; 45 minutes to an hour. The enemies not dropping out of nowhere was a welcome relief; though I hated when they'd slowly show up. "What's that? -stares- ...OH CRAP"

3. Yoshi's Island

This game was pretty cute... and I loved the graphics, which are pretty good to this day. The final boss was.... unexpected. Rather, I knew who it would be, not really what would happen. The sequel... sucked, sadly. u_u;

2. Trauma Center: Second Opinion

Well, if you can't tell, this game just brings me into it so much... I feel bad for operating on little 7 year old girl, her heart keeps stopping... and the enemy is unique... though sometimes their strains of GUILT can be frustrating. (see Triti)

1. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Ah, MM... I adore this game. It's short, but I don't see any character flaws in the NPCs. They're so.. realistic, for lack of a better term. They hide and cower in fear on the third day, and the stress between them slowly builds up. There's also well-placed humour in it, like the scene with Mikau and the ghost of the dancer.

4. Yoshi's Island
5.  Pokemon Crystal

... I still don't like picking more than 5, really, though. And most of them stayed the same, I just switched the order. I left Trauma Center out this time, because... I don't know, I just don't like it as much anymore.

Here are my favorites, in no particular order:

Lunacy (Saturn)
Tomb Raider (Saturn)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GameCube)
NiGHTS Into Dreams... (Saturn)
Jet Grind Radio (Dreamcast)
Sega Rally Championship (Saturn)
Ratchet and Clank (PS2)
Portal (PC)
Panzer Dragoon (Saturn)
Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox)

Lots of Saturn games, yes, but maybe this will shed some light on why I love that system so much.

Great game anyway, uber fun with friends!

haha I was a bit weird, I shall change my list, in no order:

-Tomb Raider I-IV

-Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness and Anniversary

-Jump! Ultimate Stars

-The Legend of Zelda: OoT + MM

-Fable: The Lost Chapters

-The Sims 1 + 2

-Spyro I + III

-Super Mario 64 + Galaxy

-Pokemon Crystal + Pearl

-Black & White
