What do you think the next Zelda game will be based on?
Based on? TP2, I guess.
But Ganon raelly, truly died in that one, so who would be the villain?
As I've probably said before, "To Ganon, death is just a minor inconvenience akin to a head cold."
TLoZ = Died
ALttP = Died
OoA/S = Died
TWW = Died
TP = Died
Never stopped him before. (http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p55/Commodore_Axilon/Forum%20Crap/linkwink.gif)
But seriously, the direct sequels (AoL, LA, MM, FSA, PH) don't feature the same villains as the games before them, so if there were to be a sequel to TP, Ganon probably wouldn't be in it.
Wait, do we even know who will be featured in Phantom Hourglass? Of course, it's assumed that it's not Ganon, but we don't know for sure...
Yeah, we do. It's already come out in Japan, you know.
Spoilers: It's some plant monster thing that steals life force...like a metroid or something. It's crazy, I know.

I meant like OoT-TP sequal or LttP-OoT sequal not a OoT-MM, or a LttP-LA.
Also, Ganon frikkin combusted in LttP.
Are you serious Commodore? That seems a little odd, but it probably won't stop me from playing.
I am hella serious, yo. 100%.
Well, I'm kinda hoping that it's based off of the Four Sword catagory such as MC, FS, and FSA.
There's different catagories I have for each game:
NES Catagory - LoZ, AoL
Links Catagory - ALttP, LA
Ocarina Catagory - OoT, MM, TP
Wind Catagory - WW, PH
Oracle Catagory - OoA, OoS
Four Sword Catagory - MC, FS, FSA
I know, I'm a geek like that. ;) But who knows? They might just make the new game have a whole different story meaning that it won't be a sequel to or resemble any of the past games.
TP has about as much to do with OoT as TWW does, if you ask me. 8)
The thing is, there hasn't been enough time for TP to get a proper sequel like the other games, so I'm about 75% sure that's what the next game is gonna be.
I heard that the new Wii Zelda is supposed to be in WW style, but... I don't know, it's probably still in development stages.
... Does anyone else think it's weird how Zelda games seem to be coming out a bit more often than usual? I mean, there's only a year between Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass.
As for what the next game's about... I don't know, but I'm sure that several things in the game will have swirls... like Greengills in TP and just about everything in WW/TMC/FS/A.
To Commodore, How does it have to do with WW? The graphics are totally, totally different.
And the reason why I say TP belongs in the Ocarina catagory is because the adult Links look so much alike and the graphics are a little different that OoT, but not that much.
WW was cell-shaded and PH looks kind of like that too, TP, OoT, and MM used 3-D, and the Oracle, NES, Links, and Four Sword catagory had sprites.
I assumed you were going by story, plot, and character similarities. My apologies.

Just rumors.
Because TP was delayed for so long.

Now that they can have portable 3Ds thats not gonna happen. Because the 3Ds always do so much better. Which people don't seem to realize is the last quality(for Zelda anyway) 2D game were the Oracles. And they weren't as good as LttP or LA.

Apparently you never played MC.
Otherewise your right. If you look at the sales charts, its the 3D games that hold the bulk of the sales. Plus, now that they can make portable 3Ds, a 2D would be an enormous step backward.
In all fairness, and out of curiosity, don't the 3-D versions have more sales because they're more constantly advertised? I mean, I don't ever remember seeing a TV advertisement for TMC or FSA...
I saw an advertisement for ALttP/FS around the time it came out. That was just once. Around the time PH came out, I saw the commercial for it like two, three, or four times. So I do believe it's a plausible theory, MagmarFire.
Then again, I have never seen TP advertised, so it's a shaky theory. Perhaps it just depends on what channel you watch/magazine you read.
I have only seen TP on those Wii commercials. But not lately, though...
I see PH commercials a lot... I think it's about style, too. A lot of people say they don't want to play WW or PH due to style, you know. /:
I dunno, I still want a 2-D game.
I think it's crap, not playing a game because of the art style.
Oh well, more copies for the rest of us. :P
Then again, I suppose some people just don't like bright things. Personally, WW gets to me after a while, I'm not used to bright games... but I still love the game. (and dark games are worse... you can't see where you're going.)
Alright, I'ma change the subject here because someone's brought my attention to something big related to this topic. I decided to post here as opposed to creating a new topic entirely. Stop me if someone's posted this link already somewhere.
So, http://zelda2008.com/
What is it? What does it say? Let's spend hours translating it!
Or... we can read this: "Experience the Challenge of Endless Adventure".
Yes, I translated it already (apparently I'm the first one to do so? Maybe not, but I didn't want to spend time searching all over the internets and decided to take matters into my own hands), and that's what it says, based on Kasuto's alphabet. What does it mean? Is it legit?
Well, I personally don't know, eh? Maybe it's a hint at a real Zelda Online, or some kind of massive RPG version of Zelda? Whatever it is, looks interesting, no?
EDIT:: I'm going to go ahead and post this on the main page with a link to this topic, this is worth it! ;D
EDIT 2:: So here's something else, the description when you look at page info says "Who will restore the dreams if not you?" Eh? Eh? A sequel to Link's Awakening? I can only hope so. :P
EDIT 3:: 'Nother update, this one is weird. So it turns out that "Experience the Challenge of Endless Adventure" can be found on the back of the original Zelda's box. See this link (http://www.mobygames.com/game/nes/legend-of-zelda/adblurbs) for some proof. What's this mean? Is it a remake of the original, a fan game perhaps? Maybe just a tribute to the original? Hmm...
Also, it says 'Where all roads meet' as the title of the page...
I think the idea of a Zelda online would be completely awesome. With Wii capabilities, it would certainly be possible... I love the idea! :D
I don't know you, but the code doesn't seem like something a guy from an important company would write. Of course, that doesn't mean anything but still...
On the other side, could it actually be a LoZ movie?
Although a 3D remake of the original doesn't sound that bad ::)
I would love it...Wouldn't it be awesome if he sprung it on us with no warning? It would be the ultimate present.

I heard there actually will be a LoZ movie coming out. It'll come out only on DVD, it won't be released into theatres because it's not a Hollywood movie or anything. But it looks like a high quality movie (it's with real people), so it's probably an independent film. I think it's called The Legend of Zelda: Hero of Time.

Uh-oh! I guess that mean's I'm Gannon Banned! (http://www.gannon-banned.com)
Back ontopic...
Both seem fake to me. The movie certainly is (that is, it's not linked to Nintendo) and that site just doesn't look anything like Nintendo would make. Also, it's way too early (not even the slightest hint something is in the making) and I can't find a Japanese version of that site, so I say it's fake.
Ya it is probably Fake.
In the literal sense, the movie is, indeed, real. :P
But it isn't an official movie (it's being made by BMB Finishes), as you guys are saying. That much is true. However, if it were released on DVD, there's hardly a snowball's chance that Nintendo would let them get away with it. In fact, I think they might've demanded that the production of the movie be cancelled due to the fear of them making a profit from it...
Ahm, guys, the image in the page just changed, look at it!
Ganon has died a million times but that never kept him from coming back (I think we have covered that by now). But something I would truly like to see is Majora, not Majora's Mask, but Majora himself. If he can defeat the Fierce Deity, he has got to be a pretty cool bad guy.
I heardthat in Japan, they coming up with this new kind of game system. Th best I ca describe it as a virtual reality helmet that doesn't go over your eyes. It reads your brain waves and say, if you were thinking of making the character swing his sword, or walk, the character will actually do it. I doubt the next Zelda game will be like thatb or if Nintendo will even make a game system like that, but who knows? It would be pretty cool. :D

Well, Miyamoto did say that TP would be the last Zelda game of its kind, so...
Hmm...well, they already made a sequel to Wind Waker, Four Swords/Adventure is kinda the sequel to Minish Cap, and Majora's Mask is the sequel to Ocarina of Time...Are ALttP and LA or LoZ and AoL linked as far as timelines go?
I think it would be cool if they made a whole different-looking Zelda game. One that hasn't been used before. ;)
I don't know what you guys are talking about text, but some very professional looking art is now on the site. It looks mysterious. An old desk with a candle and a book sitting on it. The style... perhaps it is a remake of LoZ or LA or a sequal to LA.
I can't keep myself from thinking of a fangame that has to do with dreams though.... Probably the most professional fangame I've ever seen.

Im hoping for a sequel to TP, because i dont know about anyone else, but i really loved Zant, i want him to come back. Same with Majora's Mask, if they make TP2 - Zant meets the Majora's Mask, ill be the happiest person on the planet. :D
Now Nintendo have to make the greatest game.
Guys, we have seen titles like Ocarina of Time, A link to the Past, Majora's Mask, The original Zelda which totally invented the adventure type of games. Then we have seen Wind Waker, Minish cap, Four Swords, we have tasted what the Wii Zelda can be!!! (In other words: AWSOME)
To be onest, I can't think what are those Nintendo guys making right now. But there's a list what they HAVE to do and probably will:
1. Modern graphics~ Even with cartoon style it would be great, but I don't think they will do that.
2. Gameplay~ The idea with the wolf was good, but Majora's Mask masks ;) where pretty awsome and they need to do something with the gameplay as Link too.
3. Story~ For Gods sake the formula Get 3 stones then Mastersword then a few more temples and kill Ganon was good, but this time could you please do something else! And a new villain would be good. And a new land to save. And I want the Ocarina! :( ;)
4. Gigantic map and a few new temples and challenging bosses
In other words, give us again the feel of OoT without being OoT ;) ;D

Allow me to rephrase what I said, then: Don't the console versions
other than the GameBoy versions have more sales because the former are more constantly advertised, yada yada yada?
I've seen, like, two commercials for Four Sword and FSA for the U.S. But I've only seen one for Minish Cap that was for the U.S. ad it was mainly focusing on the GBA. The person was playing Minish Cap, but at the end it had "who are you?" thing at the end. Thus making it officially a GBA ad.
But back to the topic.
To be a game really special, it has to innovate. I'm tired of seing in Zelda games the same story told in a different way. They have to make something that will brake the ice~ like Super Mario Galaxy. ;)
To be fair, Super Mario Galaxy did the same thing with its story like what you say it does in Zelda games. You start off with an invitation from Peach, Mario goes to her castle, Bowser abducts her, Mario collects Power Stars, he defeats Bowser, everyone's happy.
However, I will admit that Rosalina's backstory is very interesting and really gives you more to think about storywise.
Yeah, but Mario is Mario: its a game that is purpose its to not have a deep story. Nintendo tried the deep story thing in Sunshine. And what happend? FAILURE Mario is made for platforming, Zelda is a different story. Thats why Mario ruled just beacause of its gameplay, because thats only what we need. Zelda needs gameplay and story. And they better give it to me. :-[
Why does Zelda need a deep storyline if Mario doesn't? And exactly what do you mean by better gameplay?
Also, I liked Sunshine...
Well, hello, Mario is for kids. There is no arguing here, because I don't think angry mushrooms that want just to hit you fit in the serius storyline like Zeldas. I liked Sunshine too: darn, belive it or not, I buyed the Gamecube only because of that game ;) Mario isn't a game that needs a very deep story, but a story for kids, like a cartoon or a kids book or something like that. Did you get me?
By better gameplay I mean: challenging dungeons, new items, huge map, and I mean really huge. Also, SMG was a true next gen game. Everything was in its place and done brilliantly. I expect to see that in the next Zelda too.
Well, heres a couple things I got to say.
1) Im gunna start collecting ALL the Zelda games. Cuz If there is a possibility of Zelda ending then the games prices will skyrocket. And I love Zelda too much to just let it die in my life.
2) I think it would be a bad move to make the next Zelda a wii only game. Because Wii is very expensive now. I think they should stick with the duel compatibility, like with TP it was for the Wii and Gamecube.
3) I reeeeaaaaaly want a TP sequel. Because I think Zant is alive. At the end of TP when you stab kill Ganon, he has this dazed look in his eyes. But then you see a image of Zant suddenly snapping his neck to the side and then you see Ganon get wide eyed and die. So I figured that in some way, shape, or form, Zant is alive.
4) I also loved the game play of TP. I still play it all time. Its just so fun. It has this realistic feel to it that just makes me want to play it even though I beat it. I just like to uncover more and more secrets in the game and stuff like that.
------------------------
On a separate note. I think that Nintendo is leaning towards the wind fish again. Because....
SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the end of PH Oshus turns into a whale!!! I know hes called the Ocean King or whatever but he even flies! And not just that but he talks about going back to his own land! Maybe the land of dreams?
END OF SPOILERS!!!!!!!!
So yeah. There you have it, my opinion.
The Gamecube is officially dead, however, and Zant would have killed himself by snapping his neck, wouldn't he?
If anyone is going to keep on making Gamecube games, it'll be Disney Channel because they're stupid like that.
If gamecube is dead then why is it they even bothered making TP on it? I know the whole Zant thing is weird, but technically he was dead in the first place! It was just creepy, it was as if Zant killed Ganon somehow.
You realize TP was over a year ago, right? There haven't been any other games for the Gamecube since then.
TP was actually made for the GameCube, but Nintendo ported it over to the Wii, too. Besides, the Wii's not that expensive, especially when compared to something like the PS3. The Gamecube is also technologically weaker than the Wii, so any game made for both systems would have a weaker counterpart on the GameCube. The GameCube is pretty much just a last resort for developers now.
Wii expensive? Are you hearing yourself? Compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3 its like going to get milk from the shop :D.
Gamecube is DEAD. The last game for Gamecbe I believe it was Twilight princess, I heard that the last game for PS2 will come this summer and its going to be: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed which will be a must have for Wii owners (yay, Star Wars Wii :D)
And I believe that the next Zelda should be DS compatible too. Fun! :D
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR Wii?? I went to Gamestop's website and their cheapest price was almost $400!!! And Walmart is even more pricey!
My dad got ours at GameStop for... $250. Plus tax, of course. The reason Wal-Mart's price online is so high is because, for some reason, they're only offering a Wii bundle with six games; in their stores, however, you can buy just the system for $250. (If you can find one, that is.) If I were you, I'd check around at GameStops in your town. They're bound to have one before too long.

Always low prices" my bottom! :-*
Check on eBay. There are pretty low prices there I believe. :D Then again, thats off topic.
Nintendo have to work their heads off for this game. Lets hope they announce it soon(officially) >:(
Dude, eBay ALWAYS jacks up the prices, into the thousands.
I have a theory that the game developers dont even know themselves what their going to do. Sometimes I think they take the fan's ideas and move em a bit. Either way, Im going to get the next Zelda game. Ive played and beaten every Zelda game except for the oracle of ages and seasons. Im a Zelda addict.
The next Zelda will be a must have. :-*
Yes, I'll get it too. Belive it or not, I'll get it for the Wii if that's the only choice because I'm a Zelda freak like that. I know they're definately not going to put it on the GC because like someone said earlier "the GameCube is dead." I think they're either going to put it on the DS or the Wii...but someting tells me the Wii because the most recent Zelda games was on the DS and they probably are going in a pattern: Wii, DS, Wii, DS...etc. untl the next Nintendo game system comes out. TP, which was on the GC and Wii, to my opinion was one of the "higher quality graphics games" just like OoT, MM, and such. And PH was more of the "lower quality grahics games", so now what comes next in the pattern is another "higher quality graphics game".
Look at the bright side. The DS is a success for Nintendo as the GBA was. Even here, in Bulgaria, were Nintendo games are not in the market generally because of the damned Sony and theyre cr**** consoles, the GB was quite famous. I hope they deliver more Zelda games on the DS as they did with the GB. And besides, its imposible to make a brand new console Zelda with new grafics, gameplay and engine just for 2 years. :) Viva Nintendo!
Actually, I can see it being possible, but you would undoubtedly have to clock in some serious overtime.

Um, we don't want the Nintendo staff to work themselves to death.
Although working on games seems like it'd involve a lot of fun stuff.
Indeed. Just as long as you don't set nearly impossible deadlines.
I dunno, they haven't had a problem with pushing back the deadlines, right?
They never really push back deadlines. They only say they're delaying the game to increase demand.
...
Maybe?
If anything, they'd probably release it around the holidays when people are going to be buying it the most. I was actually surprised when they decided to delay the release date for TP from around Christmas 2005 to March 2006. Of course, the GC version did wind up coming out right near Christmas of that year.
