Title: Young Link or Adult Link?
Post by: Fishalicious on August 15, 2007, 01:18:03 PM
Not quite sure what other would be, but still...

So, do you like Young Link or Adult Link more? Not game specific, really.

I have to say, I personally like Young Link much better. Why? Well, as a child, I was always pretty mature for my age; I wouldn't play pirates with the other kids or play tag or anything of the sort. I would just sit on the swings and read, or sit in a tree and just look around. So, when I played the Wind Waker for the first time, I sensed that sort of playful child feeling from the game/Link. I've never been regretful of my 'lost' childhood, but it's nice to relive a childhood from someone else's point of view.

And in Ocarina of Time, I sort of related to Young Link... and in Majora's Mask, too. Adult Link, I could never relate that well too, I suppose... Young Link's adventures are also a great deal more interesting to me, as well. I mean, adventuring in a giant fish, or flipping a stone tower upside down? Living in a dream? That's loads better than a wet temple with a lame copy of yourself and a nucleus in water.

Oh, and I can't stand Adult Link's fighter stance in Super Smash Brothers Melee... it infuriates me. Plus, I'm not too fond of his speed in that game. :P (He's tall and weighed down with too much evil.)

Depends...

I like the middle, because I'm that age, and can relate to him more, like in LttP and WW. In OoT Adult Link showed no emotion, so I sort of prefered Young Link, but AL also had much better weapons. And is taller. In SSB I prefer YL, because he's faster, more agile, better spin attack, fire arrows, etc. But in TP I didn't want Link to be younger, I really liked AL then. So it all depends.

I like adult Link better. I guess I prefer the darker, more mature theme of TP to the kiddy theme of TWW. Also in Ocarina of Time, adult Link has all the better items and equipment.

Young Link, as my top three favorite (Majora's Mask, The Wind Waker, and Ocarina of Time) all involve him to some extent. So, uh...yeah. ::)

I just don't like him in that game. I like his colours a lot better than Young Link's, but he's much slower and his fighter stance... makes me angry. I'm not quite sure why.

Young Link's the star of most of my favourite Zelda games. (Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Link's Awakening, etc.)

Well, I don't really like Link all that much, more that I like Vaati. So I voted "Could Care Less". But if I were to choose, it would be kid Link. He's that kind of teddy bear cute and he seems to have more character. The adult Link is just...blah.

I couldn't care less. "Kiddy" and "mature" don't mean anything to me (except what they say about the one using those words). It's the gameplay I care about and the way the world is made believable. Whether I do that as a "kid or a semi-adult, I don't care.

I chose other. I just can't get enough of angsty Teen Link. Sure, Hyrule's in trouble and he's the only one who can save it, but why doesn't anybody care about HIS problems?

Like no one ever teaching him to speak properly when he was a kid. :)

I personally like the adult version better.
It just seems alot cooler for him to be older. OOT child link was his only kid incarnation that I particulrly liked.

Exactly. You can tell it made him rebellious, that's why he dyed his hair pink in ALttP. Fight the power!

Somewhat difficult for me myself to say, really... Young Link does give me more OoT nostalgia than his older counterpart, but Adult Link is plain awesome and worth working for in the game...

This thread is improper as it forces one to side with either the splittists, or the non-splittists.  You should be ashamed of yourself for forcing people to take sides in this matter.

Young Link is better, though.

It does? I don't really care that much about the timeline, really. It could be split or single, I don't know, it's up to the people making the timeline. There's contradictions with each, so...

But yes, young Link is better. If only because he can use Deku sticks, while adult Link can't... >_<

But adult Link can use the Master sword, Megaton hammer, Bow (+magic arrows), hookshot, tunics, boots, Epona, bombs, etc, etc.

Or a slingshot. You're never too old for a slingshot.

Proof of that is in TP. Link is like 18 or 19 in that one.
Of course, that slingshot basically sucked.

I found it kinda funny how you would shoot the slingshot at a Bokoblin, and the shot would miss, but the sound of the impact  will get the bokoblin's attention, and send him scurrying in that direction! How dumb do ya have to be?
