Title: Help with avatar
Post by: Takun on August 17, 2007, 10:19:50 PM
Im sort of confused on how to put my own picture up for and avatar. I can get the URL if that even has anything to do with it. But can someone please point me in the right direction?

just paste the url into the "i have my own pic" box, you don't need the IMG brackets

And it needs to be either a gif. or jpg. image and should be 100 x 75 pixels.

And it has to be 100 x 100.

And even until you get the hang of it, you could just use one of the avatar TDC has, that's what I did.

Ok thanks I'll try that.

*Ok, well now I did that and a little picture of an red X inside of a white box is showing up where the pic would be. Is it showing up on your computors or is it messed up?*

Does the file name end with .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif? Or is it a viewing thing?

For example, if it's from photobucket, and you put this:

http://s143.photobucket.com/albums/r153/faceless_nothing/avatars/loveless/?action=view&current=009.png

instead of this:

http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r153/faceless_nothing/avatars/loveless/009.png

You would get this:

instead of this:

Yes, make sure you're looking at the address of the picture itself and not the page it's on.

Ok I think I know what I did wrong. Is it working now?

No, it isn't.

Make sure that it has an http:// prefix, or it won't work.

Yeah I did that already. I already realized the issue. I checked the picture and it's over 100x100. I tried altering it but when I do that I cant get the URL. It's ok, Ive given up on the pic.

Well, once you get it down to 100x100, you can upload it to Photobucket/ImageShack/et al..

Or, you could upload it onto photobucket, then click the 'avatar size' or whatever button, and it'll automatically scale it down to 100x100 or less... :P

that is what I used to do, well, with the ones that weren't 100 by 100, but I usually go with the ones that are 100 by 100.

I usually upload my image on Imageshack, and edit the code it gives me in Word.
