Post by: Vaati on September 06, 2007, 03:37:48 PM
Have you noticed what it said on the one Minish's shirt, it says "Umi Qlo"...What does Umi Qlo mean anyway? I Googled it but I just got a bunch of chicken scratch. (http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u161/Miss_Hayls/FunkyMinish-1.jpg)

If I told you that, I'd have to erase your memory, send you to Vietnam, and shave off all of your hair.

I'm thinking maybe it's an abbreviation for something... maybe a Japanese phrase. Or, for that matter, a Minish phrase.

Umi means water.  Qlo means Qlo.

It's obviously Waterqlo, fool.

Japanese.

Or ocean, or sea, or something like that.

I know this is off the subject, but I have to point out that I found that incredibly amusing. But back on the subject, I didn't know that Umi meant "water." Perhaps that's a clue...

Minish is inverted Japanese; in other words, gibberish.

For example, the symbols for "Gufuu" are Gu and Fuu. So in Minish, it would be FuuGu.

Oh, and keep in mind the manga-ka is Japanese, so they probably don't know English all that well. Thus, they most likely just write the only English letters they knew, so...

Then again, Japan loves the English alphabet, so...

Really? I think our alphabet is boring, on the other hand, I'm not Japanese.  ;)
